In this video I tell you my story on why I became a Mason. Freemasonry is important to me, and I have several people in my life who, by their normal habit, caused me to choose to join the Freemasons.

Just entered my E.A. degree. I love your videos, I have seen many. I am going to watch your story and information from start to finish. Thank you Brother.
Hello JP, and thank you :) I need to focus my thoughts a bit more on this channel and determine a schedule for videos. Until then, thank you for watching.
I wish to join in but I have no fee that can make me being initiated
Help me brotherhood
Hi Jared, stoked to have my proper Interview In a couple of months.. Ready to start being the best i can! Many thanks for your explanations and annocdotes.. I have found them very informal and honest.
Thank you very much. Good luck with your petition!
My dad was a Freemason, he never asked me to join, he said he knew if I was interested I'd ask him, I never did and now he's not with us. I think because of the secrecy issues Freemasonry has received a bad deal from many and I fully understand this, any person or group that keeps 'secrets' will be ridiculed in some way, it's human nature to be sceptical about anyone or anything if they don't give answers to simple questions. So really any bad press that Freemasonry receives is in fact quite fair, Freemasonry has to accept this and take all the sh*t. I think the main issue is that most of us have heard of the secret handshakes, the ceremonies, the dressing up, the initiations etc and until someone actually tells people why and how then it will continue to receive the bad press, the conspiracies and the ridicule...it simply goes with the territory. I'm at a stage of life where I am interested in Freemasonry, inquisitive maybe or maybe I feel the need to improve myself, and also an eagerness to learn things that maybe life cannot teach me. I now look at things in a different way and just feel that trying someone thing out is always worth it, like any new venture or change in life we can all try and if it suits stay with it and if it doesn't at least we can say we tried and learned. You win some and/or you learn some. As long as you are not hurting anyone and you have genuine love then anything goes in this life
Over generalizations are, generally (see what I did there?), dangerous. However, I think most Freemason's attitude toward the conspiracies and ridicule is "Meh, whatever". We don't strive to be loved by everybody. We just do good work and move along. If someone thinks we are bad, that's their business, not ours and we won't burden ourselves with trying to argue with them about it.
Masons CANNOT invite others to join...Candidates have to come "of their own free will and accord"
Fair point but the reason for the secrecy is much misunderstood. To be a Mason is having a fraternal bond. That is created by knowledge of Freemasonry from participating and going through the degrees. If it was common knowledge it would be rather pointless. Much like answers to exam papers being handed out to everyone who demands them because they’re secret!! It would make studying pointless. What’s genuinely sinister is the disgusting lies people make up just because they’re told, sorry no, we will not tell you what happens in a lodge meeting!
Thank you for sharing Jared. Your posts have seemed very honest and true. I am a defense contractor overseas at the moment but I have contacted a lodge back home in Florida to express my interest in becoming a part of this brotherhood. I look forward to your future posts.
I keep myself quite busy with my other channel, ua-cam.com/users/jandjacres, but I hope to provide you with more videos on this channel as well. Travel safe and hope you are able to find a lodge close to home.
Just a quick question, I’ve recently turned 18 and im in Ireland, I’ve never liked mainstream society and people a lot of them are close minded in the system (at least where I live), I don’t get on too great with my family (in the sense that I can’t be my true self around them) and have a small number of friends, I’ve grown up without a father figure in my life and the Free masons seems like a place I should join (from my perspective at least) and I don’t really care about all the conspiracy theories online, what do you think should I join?
It isn't for me to say if you should join or not. The choice to petition the lodge is up to you, alone, and the decision to accept you or not is up to that local lodge alone.
What is a Mason ok thank you for the reply, sorry I’m still in the habit of seeking validation on certain topics
You may be too young still. 21 is the minimum age usually. Although it may be different in Ireland. It sounds like you are genuinely interested and that alone is enough to get you accepted in most lodges. Just send an email or make a phone call to the Grand Lodge of your area. They will be very happy to answer your questions. You will probably be invited to meet for an informal interview over a drink if you wish to take it further.
Johnny Draco oh a copy and paste expert! Well done. You learned how to watch junk UA-cam videos created by other morons. You should must be so proud of yourself.
Thank you for sharing Brother. I have watched a few of your videos now and I liked them all, I too have embarked on the journey and having been initiated hope to be raised to the next degree.
Before I asked to join I too had heard and read a lot of misinformation on Freemasonry some of it I am sure based loosely on truth but never really insightful enough to be able to make an informed decision on.
Before joining I knew a few Master Masons, some even worked for me when I was a Supervisor. Since joining I have met even more and the one thing I can say for sure about every Brother I’ve met is that they strive to become better versions of themselves each day and in doing so hope to make their little piece of the world a better place.
Brother, I appreciate your patronage, but more importantly I appreciate that you did not stop looking into Freemasonry after your first Internet search - it can be very misleading, as you have noted.
I hope you progress through the degrees at a rate that allows you to appreciate their deeper meanings.
Thank you for watching :D
I'm glad I found your channel.
I just became an E.A. on 6-6-22 . My lodge is the Orient lodge #15 in Thomaston Maine.
I've watched a few of your videos and like how you present your content.
Thank you . I would like to talk more with you if you don't mind. It's nice to meet other brothers from other states.
Thank you! Best Free Mason video I've come across! I'm a past IOJD and there are many Masons in my family. 32nd Degree & 33rd Degree.
Thank you - I hope you look up some of my newer (an at least in my opinion MUCH better) videos as well, including a remake of this one :-)
I have a rare arthritis called ankylosing Spondilytis. I had a job that paid very well. I have to take care of my house, my wife and my daughter. If I could pay my dues, I would do my best to be a mason.
Sorry to hear about your debilitation. I hope something brings you relief, soon.
@@WhatisaMason I realized that saying I can't be a Freemason was no way to become a Mason. I'm not broke by any means. I'm going for it this week. Thank you for your information and your answer to why I was saying that I can't join. I realized that I couldn't with the attitude I had. I'm going for it and hope to call you brother soon. Thank you for your information. Hope you have a good one.
I needed that. Hope to call you brother soon.
Your settings are such that I cannot reply to your comment directly James Acton
Well, I can see you two are getting along great. To answer the original question James, I do not know of any lodge that bans members of the LDS Church. The lodges in Utah are full of and led by Mormons.
Kevin, clearly Masonry is not for you, as a Mason would not attack another persons religion, whether they believed in it themselves or not. The man is seeking God through is own means and that would be enough for a Mason.
James, I was previously a First Councilor in our Bishopric. I chose to leave the LDS Church, but hold no animosity towards the Church or its members. Despite my change in beliefs I believe that there are more moral people in the LDS Church than any other organized religion.
That said, if you have been to the Temple, James, I believe if you join the Fraternity that you will understand how much Masonry influenced Mormonism. To many, that strengthens their faith. To others it calls question into what Joseph Smith received by revelation and what he just picked up and then formed into a religion or religious practice.
Either way, the LDS Church does good humanitarian work and tries to lead people toward God. You could equally question this history of any and all Churches. Heck, anyone who has put any research into the Holy Bible knows that it was not written by those who the various books it contains are named for. That doesn't mean that we cannot draw moral lessons and ways of living from the Bible that make us better men and lead us closer to God.
Do you know Armenian Masons?
No, I do not believe I know any Armenian Masons. Then again, I do not believe I know any Armenians.
What is a Mason It is my understanding that Joseph Smith restored the original Masonic symbolisms and rituals to their original and celestial form. There are some similarities between temple ordinances and masonic rituals, but there are also huge differences. Freemasonry really doesn't broach the subject of eternal marriage which is exclusively an LDS belief as one example.
Think of it this way, if Freemasonry is truly as old as we believe, stretching back to king Solomons temple era, would it not be reasonable to assume the architects and masons of the temple itself were in fact acquainted with the ordinances and rituals that occurred inside of ancient temples? Grips and signs and things of that nature I am specifically speaking of. Would it not also be reasonable to assumeme these ancient temple ordinances blended with ancient masonic teachings and over time have branched into what we now call Freemasonry keeping in mind these temple grips and signs have been altered and distorted through apostasy and tradition by the masons from king Solomons days down to present time, though perhaps not intentionally, and thus the discrepancy but similarity between LDS temple ordinances and Freemason ritual?
Joseph was in fact a Freemason as you well know, but concluding he stole masonic ideology, symbolism and rituals from Freemasonry seems absurd to me. I say this because Smith was already receiving revelation regarding temples and its ordinances and what ordinances they were to be long before his introduction to Freemasonry. He was receiving revelation of this nature in the mid to late 1830's and was initiated in the early 1840's. Obviously Freemasonry was something that interested him because 1) his family and a large portion of his friends were masons themselves, and 2) its similarity to what he had already been receiving in revelation. It is not a surprise that he wanted to join the craft with that in mind. He was curious and wanted to learn more and why it is so similar to what he was being taught--the reason being that it was once the same thing.
To summarize, Freemasonry seems to be derived from ancient temple signs and grips etc. But has been corrupted, apostatized, and distorted thought the generations and tradition.
I mean no offense, simply sharing my thoughts on the matter and perhaps made you see the situation in a different way.
Thanks for your videos.
+What is a Mason What is the degree thing about, ,I read the three most common are 1st degree 2nd degree 3rd degree and that anything above that is rare very rare. How hard or what is the inniation process of a 33 degree mason?
+What is a Mason
Do you have to be smart or intelligent to join the masons?
wow amazing story. I. was recently initiated into a local lodge. my story is almost like fate. while volunteering for a cowboys game I ran into to a really nice gentlemanwhile waiting for the group I signed up to volunteer the event. we talked and just like you hew figured I was a mason. after about an hour of conversation I joked about not knowing anyone I was volunteering with since I found the ad on mutt companies website. long story I decided to work the event with him and his group of men and women. who all turned out to be masons and eastern stars. He just so happened to be thewm.
it def feels good to dwell...
I have questions..... do you have time to entertain said questions? I understand the restrictions I will only ask of you the things that have been allowed to the public, however I do not feel as though simply watching a "UA-cam video" satisfies my inquiries...
Sure you can! Either on here, or though my contact form here: whatisamason.org/contact
Please note: You left this comment on one of the very early videos - there are over 100 other newer, better, videos that might address your Q's.
I am going to be the first freemason in my family soon, I was a boy scout and my assistant scoutmaster is a mason and I took an interest in it and I got a petition last month but im trying to get enough money for my initiation fee, my dad used to not like freemasons but I did research on it and explained it to him and he expressed an interest in joining as well and so did my brother, I want to be a master mason so I can raise both of them how cool would that be, or my dad raising me and my brother to the degree of a master mason...
That's great, and I am glad your family is, at a minimum, not opposing your own desires. However, something to note: raising a person is hard. It takes a LOT of learning and practice. Sure, being a MM gives you the rank necessary to be allowed to raise a man, but it isn't as if you'll be able to do it soon after you yourself are raised. Many people spend years preparing to do so. I'd recommend talking to your lodge - they can clarify what aspects of their degree you would be able to assist with if you were made a MM first.
Do people have to pay for a petition form?
That is the custom in some lodges, but not all of them.
How do you rise through the ranks?
Attend often, learn, teach.
Can you be a pastor of a church and still be a mason?
Absolutely.
I became a Mason similar to the store I just listen too at my late 30s and I'm 77 now. ...great to listen to a factual life story from somebody else. ....thanks for sharing. ..... Greetings from South Africa. ...🌴🌴🐯🐒🌴🌴
Greetings Brother, thank you for being a part of my channel and commenting on the videos.
Found your channel today, joined today, boom! Thanks for all the great insights, peace be with you.
tell me what do you know of astro-theology if you can tell me
Sure you want that answer ?
My story is very similar to yours brother. The only difference being I am now in the process of joining here in Las Vegas, NV. I just passed the investigation today and the voting will take place at the next meeting. I know almost everyone at this lodge though and am expecting a confirmation. I'm looking forward to being a part of the craft and would like to say thank you for your videos, I found them very informative.
Thank you for watching. I hope all went well!
I wanna be a part of it , how to join ?

I enjoy your content. Very helpful in different parts of my research
Thanks!
if it is the right thing to do why not sharing everything ?
Does that mean I can have your bank account number? No?
Nearly the same thing happened to me Brother. Infact I get raised to the Subline Degree Of Master Mason tomorrow night in Unity Lodge 95, Memphis, TN. Greetings !
I have been wanring to be a mason for years and year. Ita easy enough to join just been unsure because I don't want it to take time away from my family 😒
Wonder if jared is still ba freemason?
I see this channel has not been putting out new stuff
Hey whats going on Jared, i have came a ecross a few freemason in my life time, and i have educated my self aBout it. But, i have not had the moment to actually hear, a freemason express the reason why....you really, really became one....
You were one of the vary chosen ones, congratulations.
I understand that in some countries it may feel like an elite group - but really the vast majority of people who ask to get in, get in, here in the USA.
you still didn't tell me nothing
This is a fairly old video, please feel free to catch up with the new videos!
Becoming a brick isn't good for you.
Read the bible .
philliPhillips most of us do...
Here's a question I ask… what would you do if you found out that your preacher was a Freemason? A church that you been attending for a very long time ... Would you stop attending? Would you try And preach to the preacher? Or would you try and find out why he had The perspective that he had?
please include that you need to have faith first to become a free mason. maybe that will help cut down on some of the bad publicity that ignorant people seem to repeat so much. (meaning someone who has no clue to what they are saying but only repeating hear say - and its ludicrous.)
That is a good and valid point. Thank you.
WTF IS A FREE MASON OH BUNCH OF LUCIFERIANS THAT GET TOGETHER WORSHIP THE DEVIL AND HAVE SAUSAGE PARTIES AT THE LODGE WILL YOU STILL LIKE TO JOIN NO THANK YOU
thanks for posting. Alot of misinformation on YT.
Thank you for watching!
do masons believe in god , the creator of everything? & do they go to Heaven not hell fire ?
Yes, we believe in God, a creator of everything. We teach moral lessons in hopes that a man will arrive in heaven, but we do not preach salvation through Freemasonry - we leave salvation to the Church, whichever one you opt to follow.
A man must have a belief in some sort of benevolent Supreme Being" A soon as that belief is established no more religious discussion is entered in to
can you be agnostic and still become a freemason
Perhaps.
You must believe in a divine power.
What is your name?
I said it in the video. My name is Jared Stanley.
If I am supposed to understand this, I do not.
hopes ? so is there no garentee? & does it matter your religion?
Freemasonry makes no guarantee. We'll give you the tools and lessons for you to make yourself a better person, but if you do so - well, we can't make you - you know?
It does not matter what your religion is, so long as you proclaim a belief in God, be that Christian (or any denomination there of), Jewish, Muslim, whatever.
Kinda like a one World religion at the end of the day , I guess ?Ultimately A god ?
Can you teach me about the red and blue pillars please
I'm not sure what you mean about the red and blue pillars. Can you give me anything else to go off of?
Boaz ;)
That video was... well... People see what they want to see and with a world as big and varied as our it's easy to make something look connected, or to randomly throw up geometric shapes on anything, really.
As for Boaz and the pillars - yeah, that's easy - read the bible: www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/1-Kings-Chapter-7/ - But I've never seen them colored red and blue, which is where you lost me in the first place.
its why i sent it to you ... i want to learn the truth about them..... was wondering if you could shed some light ..... i wasnt saying i was right on any account ...... just sharing is all...... another reason why i am joining the lodge...... i want to be a student ...... a brother...... enlightend with truth or my truth..... please and thank you again for what you do
you see i used to (still am) full of shit and difinsformation about MANY things..... i am Open minded and have never been set on anything except i know its my destiny to join and i have always felt like i belonged............ it would mean so much to me if you could teach me something .... not looking for secrets just looking for truth
I'm in Denver we got to talk if you choose to do so thanks be blessed
I used to live around Denver - in Aurora, Thornton and Castle Rock. Shoot me an email: jandjacresms@gmail.com
But you for instance, you did not join for not having benefits.
Sure I did. I was curious and several men who I knew to be good, honest and fair were members, so I wanted to be as well.
Greetings!
+What is a Mason. There was a time when a Mason would never come out and tell the public he is a Mason. Why are you and others coming out now? I'm just curious.
Name when that time was? Unless you pick when there was large anti-masonic groups who would harm a Freemason, then I can't think of when you are speaking of. It was never a secret.
What is a Mason 1960s. Back then, you couldn't go into a library and read the Quran unless you told them you were a Muslim or a Mason.
George Washington, and many others, stood in full Masonic regalia to lay and dedicate the cornerstone of the United States Capitol building. That was in 1793. That is one example of why I was asking when it was ever "secret" to be a Freemason.
What is a mason
Thanks for sharing.
+What is a Mason can you please email me billymirander@gmail.com so you and I can take it from there
its funny, i met so many that are openly masons. most of my friend that arent, have relatives that are. eithee theres a lot of masons or its in my bloodline. and i might add that my great grandpa was one in a very high degree that was never much discussed
Planning to join them?
What is a Mason iv considered it yes. mostly for the fact i can make somw connections and help out my community :)
so-why did you joined? your friends did not have your back before you joined? what kind of friends are those? oh -wait a sec-Freemasons! some of my friends and i live live together in the same building on the same floor but in separate units -we look out for each other 24/7 - any of us can live our doors wide open all day and not worry about being robbed -or if somebody causing trouble for either one of us (happened before) just bang on the wall or yell and anyone who heard it would be there for the rescue! needless to say that none of us is a mason openly or secretly-we are just very good friends
Perhaps I didn't articulate myself well (which is very possible). I didn't join because my non-freemason friends weren't good friends. I joined because I noticed several of my friends ARE freemasons and I wanted to learn more about an organization that such good people decided to affiliate themselves with.
fair enough-i hope you are not disappointed
Clearly not :-) I've decided to make videos about it all, after all :-)
Great way to talk to people about freemasonry, brother.
a mason is a name my name is mason
can you join as an atheist?
+Themrfreebody stupidchanges No you have to believe in a Supreme Being, and it has been that way since 1717
No.
What is a Mason The Landmarks in a Regular [Masonic] Body is that your have to be a Man of mature age,[21 years in most] No Criminal record and profess the belief in a supreme being. and they are immovable and have been like that since 1717
How can you make sure that I really believe in a Supreme Being and not just faking it to be able to join? ;J
Megan Shenanigan To be a Freemason in a Regular Masonic Body the rules are you must be a man of mature age, no criminal record and profess the belief in a supreme being
so it's a numbers game
is it a religion?
No
@@WhatisaMason does the Bible allow what you do, have you read the Bible, do masons enter the kingdom of God?
I have personally read the Holy Bible, yes. Freemasonry requires the use of a "Volume of Sacred Law". Some lodges let the lodge pick which book that is, other lodges have multiple books, and some are required to use the Holy Bible. As for who enters the Kingdom of God - that is up to Him alone.
I just want to know for a fact do I have to sell my soul
+Terry Blue wtf? it's just an organization of people not some fairytale flying angels with horns....
Idk
Are you a conspiracy theorist>>?
No
There is no selling of soul in the brotherhood... It's not like their gonna force you to do stupid things..
2022, FC here on my wat to MM.
I hope you MM went well. :)
I really enjoy your videos Bro :)
What does it mean to be a master Mason? Can I girl become a Mason? If not, then why?
There are 3 degrees in Freemasonry; Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason. Simply put, being a Master Mason means that person has attained all 3 degrees. Of course there is more to it than that.
Women can become Freemasons in certain jurisdictions. In others they cannot. As for the why on the areas where they cannot, I believe it would come down to men choosing to start a fraternity, which, by definition, consists of men. There are several masonic-based organizations for women, such as the Order of the Eastern Star, or Rainbow Girls for younger ladies.
Centuries of study and wisdom have gone in to Masonic practices, which are designed to make good men better. Being a fraternity (all men) we can't possibly understand how to make a good woman better, and we are wise enough not to try.
LOL - I needed a good chuckle, thank you.
Do you before in God?
I do.
Profane would never understand Bro. Travel well
Thanks!
