My father was a 3rd degree master mason and I have always been proud of that fact. He was a very generous man and helped anyone in need all his life, his father was also a mason. My dad was buried with full masonic rites.

I've noticed that the "Grande Orient de France" used four letters in their square and compass. Considering that operative masonry started in France, speculative masonry likely started there also, despite the fact ex-pats from Scotland were living in France at the time. My guess is that when speculative masonry took off in England, they simply dropped all letters but the G. It has taken on many meanings since then and its true origins would somehow lend more credibility to France than England so we can't have that now can we? Here here.

A few points if I may.
The word is compassES...not compass. The former are used by Masons... the latter used by navigators.
Grande Orient is not recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England, as the principal requirement for Regularity is not adhered to, a belief in a supreme being. Therefore, it cannot be considered as practicing Freemasonry. This is what caused the schism between itself and the UGLE back in the 19th century.
There is no evidence to suggest that speculative Masonry started in France. Nobody knows for sure where, or when, Freemasonry started.
The letter G is not used inside the familiar Masonic sign of the square and compasses. It is, however always displayed inside the Lodge room. There is no definitive meaning of the letter G. It is open to the interpretation of the individual Mason. It might stand for God, Gnosis, Geometry or even Gobstopper!
Of course, there is a French Grand Lodge which IS in amity with the UGLE and here is their website.

***Fact 5 @ about 5:00, the information is not accurate. The information seems to be a blend of details spanning the ancient masons (those who were craftsmen in stone, wood, metal, et cetera) to what are now Freemasons (membership not restricted to a tradecraft).
Current Freemasonry: long period of training
Most U.S. Lodges, training is learning the etiquette and memorizing a story (which combines history and one’s own experience) and being able to recite that. There is much philosophical meaning behind it which is different for each person.
The length of time for one to pass from one degree to the next varies by locale and governing Grand Lodge. At my lodge, each member is given one year to advance to the next degree (COVID did result in exceptions), however, I understand that in Australia it totals 7 years from first day to being made a Master Mason.
Ancient Masonry: long period of training
This is the time when Masonry was that of craftsmen, so yeah, it takes years to decades to perfect a craft and move upward in that craft. In any skill-craft, math is a huge part, stone masons especially had to understand architecture as they were contracted to build the great buildings of much of the world until about the 1600’s, I think.

Its is with little doubt that the craft masons of ancient time would incorporate membership to certain persons of affluence (i.e., a noble) for benefit (early form of capitalism?). There is scattered evidence to suggest as such. Today, no, that does not exist. Sure, I may have a lodge Brother who’s a good mechanic, but I would NEVER solicit his service except as a full paying customer. If he sucks, I aint goin back. I’ll still accept him as a Brother, might even tell him his sucks as a mechanic, but I will never use a Brother for a hook up, no true Freemason would.
Does it happen? Yes. Bad eggs do slip by as they do in any place; however, today’s Freemason has no place for that sort of thing, we seek higher, more noble aspiration.

In the original lodges (referred at the time as guilds (word varies by language)), as was common in much of the world at the time, crafts (wood, metal, stone, clergy, et cetera) were only done by men with some but few exceptions. Women, regardless of were in the world, were managers of the home. Thus, by natural evolution of those craft guilds, which were essentially unions for a skill set, men were a predominate factor and as such remain in the greater body of freemasonry.
England Freemasonry (today time) has seemed to embrace women’s Lodges in much the same way the greater U.S. Lodges reconciled and accepted Prince Hall Lodges. Honestly, I expect the U.S. Lodges to start recognizing and accepting women’s lodges eventually.
There are, in the U.S., appendant bodies which are for: all persons regardless of age and gender, women, men, male children, or female children. The U.S. Freemason regular lodge is male only in 99.9999999999992% of all lodges.
The appendant organizations are not Freemason groups, yes there is an affiliation to some degree, in some cases very minor (e.g., motor cycle clubs). Just because you are in Order of the Eastern Star does not mean you are a Freemason. Just because you are in Jobs Daughters, or DeMolay does not mean you are a Freemason.
If you are a Shriner, a Royal Arch, a Scottish Rite, then you are a Freemason.

The initial onset of the Catholic Church declaring against Freemasonry, in short as history explains, mostly out of political reasons; recall that the Catholic church was, arguably up until the early 20th century, very influential in most affairs of state regardless of the Nation. This is what led to the demise of the Knights Templar, France owed money and didn’t want to pay, so in congress with the Catholic Church of the time, Knights Templars were labeled as heretics; the move to round them up was Oct 13, 1307…a Friday…see where that went?
Now the Catholic has a much more understandable reason to continue not sanctioning Freemasonry; to the Catholic faith, if that doctrine is not accepted as the one AND ONLY true and correct, then it is not such and damnation is the reward. Since Freemasonry accepts any who believe in something greater than themselves, it’s blasphemous. The Catholic Church, instead, decided to institute their own thing, Knights of Columbus.
Honestly, it’s the same thing as Freemasonry, kind of like Cool-Aid as each variety contains water, sugar, coloring, and taste…the taste is what differs. Knights of Columbus vs Freemasonry are the same; ritual, purpose, structure, lessons, fellowship, charity…., I could go on forever. The primary difference is the script followed and belief requirements. Knights of Columbus accept ONLY Catholics, Freemasonry accepts all regardless of in whom you place your trust in times of imminent of perilous danger (some exceptions apply i.e., the devil; Devil worshipers are not permitted) but Freemasons will accept Catholics…yeah, there are Catholic Freemasons…the Catholic church likely I not aware.

We don't have OES here in England and I don't know much about them, but I DO know that to be a member, you must be related to a male Mason who has attained the Third Degree. There is no speculation about the “G,” If you understand numerology you would notice that “G” is the 7th letter of the English alphabet. The bible gives God’s number as being 7. 777 is a representation of a “godly” trinity. Also the King James bible is the bible Freemasons are given after the 3rd degree. King James was a man who believed in the “Divine Right of Kings.” Which was k-boshed after the “Three Kingdoms Wars,’ (aka: British Civil War). The British were actually the first to remove God from country, and look what happened after that.
America did the same thing, as we are privy to that these days. No one cares about the pledge of Allegiance, and national anthem any more, except a Freemason. You are aware that not everyone believes in the Christian God, yes? We are perfectly free to worship as we see fit. I am Christian but I have friends of different faiths. I am more interested that we have freedom of religion than government officials mouthing religious platitudes whilst acting anything but Christian. I love living in a country where I may believe as I see fit. I don't need an established state church/religion.
And for the record, the right of people not to recite the pledge was guaranteed by the Supreme Court of the United States in the 1940s. Saying the Pledge does not indicate whether or not a person is loyal to our country or not--though those of some religions do not recite it because their religion does not permit them to pledge allegiance to any entity besides God.

Léo Taxil (1854-1907) claimed that Freemasonry is associated with worshipping Lucifer. In what is known as the Taxil hoax, he alleged that leading Freemason Albert Pike had addressed "[t]he 23 Supreme Confederated Councils of the world" (an invention of Taxil), instructing them that Lucifer was God, and was in opposition to the evil god Adonai. You're MOSTLY right- but there is a part that is often left out. IN medieval times- travel was very restricted unless accompanied by knights.. and various others. Travel from one area to anther was controlled by the various countries and it made it difficult for getting skilled masons to the appropriate areas as they did not possess "royal" papers and acknowledgement for travel. (before passports ever thought about). The masons were give a status for FREE travel as long as they were traveling for WORK-- on assigned projects...and the handshake saved time on inspecting each section of travelers and proving they wERE indeed masons of various levels.. THis was BEFORE the "secret" crap was ever added.. The square is to regulate our lives and actions according to the Masonic line and rule. The CompassES (not compass!) remind us to limit our passions and prejudices and to keep us within due bounds with all mankind. Combined together they are a powerful reminder of how we should act in life to be well squared and rounded human beings.
The G does not stand for anything in particular and it is left up to the individual mason to decide it's meaning.
Freemasonry is not just for men.

I just found out that my dad was a Mason my mom told me that he is like a pretty high Masons like he is/was pretty important. But my mom said that it's probably dangerous to be part of them because she said back then her and him was in a car and she was joking about joining the girl Masons and he took that very seriously talking about that she should not do that like at all so now I want to join the Masons and see what the heck they be doing of course I won't be able to say what they do because my mom says my dad would never tell her what they did she said not even my brothers dads would say it and they are part of Masons to I know one thing these Masons are shady

Also fraternal twins are not exclusively boys. Although it has its roots in brotherhood the word also applies to organizations like Eastern Star, Amaranth, White Shrine, Alpha Phi Omega, (and other professional college fraternities). Sorority on the other hand is exclusively female. College all male fraternities exist but the term fraternal love and brotherly love both are gender inclusive. If UA-cam would let me copy and paste links in comments I could provide a plethora of links to support this.
However, as a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Member of the Order of Amaranth, advisor of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, only the latter is NOT considered a fraternal organization and I feel quite confident resting on my own expertise on that.

That said many Masons are involved I do know that eastern star is not considered part of the Masons none of the women’s organizations are at Best there appendant bodies.
But I noticed you go to something that I can’t even research because I’m not a Mason because only men are Masons.
But every worthy matron has a worthy patron who has to by definition be a mason so if so many Masons had problems with this I don’t know why they would be involved. The order was created by Rob Morris a mason. Robert Macoy, also a Mason created Amaranth.
