I have almost same problem in my small powder room during installing floor. One short end don’t want to lock and gap makes planks not even and smooth connection. Will fix tomorrow I have all tools 😅 Great video !!

Leaving youtube, just thought why not watch another video, and it was my luck i saw tbis one. The shoe trick😅. Amazing. In less tban 30 seconds the gap is fixed. Thank You for this very helpful fix for my floor gaps that I thought it would be there till the end of time. It really worked this time using the handle bar that still holding on sucked above the bath tub. It was to be use by my mother in law and she had passed on but we didn’t un-suck it thinking I’m not very far from using it myself. I’ve already tried this method 10 years ago but it didn’t work but this time it did and and being little warmer It must have been the extent amount of moisture being huge factor for this method to work. So after cleaning the wood surface I attached it and with rubber mallet I started hitting it slowly but it dies not look good. Tried it again this time with small numerous average taps and then one hard hit and voila! The videos of this channel guided me through lots of others stuff Thanks a whole lot!

The suction cup tool you recommended was very reasonably priced on Amazon and worked like a champ. What was an hour project for me last time took seconds to fix the LVP in the kitchen and utility room. Our washing machine has a tendency over time to pull a couple of planks loose and looks awful. Thank you very much for the suggestion and sharing the "tricks."

Method 3, with the double-sided tape, worked like a champ. I used the clear 15 pound Scotch and it had enough grip to stand up to the mallet, but it was easy to remove and didn't leave any residue behind. Thanks so much for this tip.

I layed my floating floor without letting the planks acclimate to the air-conditioned shop space. So I ended up with horrible gaps. I tried the two strips of tape and 2x4 method from someone's video. However, pulling the board off was difficult and I actually broke one of the planks! So I watched your video and bought the two-suction cupped tool. Worked like a charm! I thought I was going to have to pull the floor but with the tool it was a breeze. Thanks!
This is a very practical instructional. Note the gap between the wall and those 2 planks now. Placing a shim in those gaps would probably prevent future shifting.
I was sceptical about fixing the gap right in the middle of my living room with those methods. Boy was I surprised! It took 2 minutes and it works! I used the tape method. Thanks for the video and greetings from UK

Excellent video dude. I have closed many gaps with 2 side tape. One important thing I have learned is to only use small pieces of tape (2 inches or so) regardless of board size. Much easier to remove just by tapping without your foot on the board, plus it helps conserve the tape for later.
Really awesome. Live in an apt. Have a couple areas like this. I have almost tripped on one area. Maintenance said we'd have to move out because they'd have to put in new floor. Going to do this myself and going to show this to maintenance.! ty!

Awesome video can't wait to do this on bedroom floor that buckled from water damage. Hired a contractor to fix and after 8 months or a year there are fairly large gaps...very noticeable!
Have laid this type of flooring many times and learned a long time ago to drive a small nail into each end at the wall on each board and then lay your trim mould and never have that problem.
Thank you for your video. I can see the crowbar near the wall possibly being very useful for other applications as well. I saw an Instagram reel where they put Gorilla tape on the vinyl floor and then used the double-sided tape and a board on top of that. That worked the same way, but the Gorilla tape was easy to remove from the vinyl.
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing! The shoe method tends to pull your toenails off if you have lots to do! The non-slip stuff with the timber or double-sided tape is definitely the one for me.
This is great advice and going out now to get the supplies I need to close up the gaps in my floor. Floor has been down for about 2 years and now have to gaps. I tried the shoe kicking method before, but no luck. I was not going to pull up the baseboard so I could hammer the gap closed. You just saved me so much time and effort. Thank you!!!
We used peel and stick vinyl tiles in our kitchen when we first bought this house in 2001. The house was built in 1902, and everything in it has settled, shifted, buckled, or slid since then. So even had it been absolutely plumb and square when built -- which I doubt -- it wasn't by 2001! That being the case, I just picked the squarest wall and laid the tiles along that line. I took a break, and my husband came in and began to try to lay more tiles. However, he chose a different wall to lay his square against, and began to space the tiles out in the attempt to establish a different version of "straight." Yeah, that ended badly. By the time I got back, he had slapped in another two and a half rows of tiles, leaving gaps of about 1/16th of an inch on some places between his first row and my last one. A man knows you love him when you don't kill him for that. I faced the prospect of either ripping out the rows he had put down, which would have meant I needed to buy more tiles, or figuring out a way to fill the gaps. I had tiles of two colors, light green and ivory, forming a checked pattern. Buying more would have meant buying two boxes, and having many go to waste. I decided to find a way to fill the gaps. To make matters worse, he had left the gaps in the vicinity of the kitchen trash receptacle, at which he threw things from across the room. He missed especially often with coffee grounds, which began to fill the gaps in an unattractive way. I finally got a tube of ivory latex caulk. I cleaned out the gaps, and squeezed in a thin bead of caulk, then scraped it flat, cleaning of the overflow as I went. When it dried, it was a nearly exact match for the ivory tiles. It's now visible only on close examination; a casual glance will skip tight over it, and has never needed repair. If push came to shove, this might also work where vinyl planks have moved apart.
place a layer of blue painters tape down first, then place the 2x4 with the double-stick tape on to that...very easy to get off the floor with absolutely no mess.
Hey seen this and wanted to add something. For the removal of the wood with the double sided tape. Use a dry wall spatula. 2" as a pry surface to prevent the surface damage. Great video and tricks keep up the good advice.
Agreed. I try to gently wiggle it as I'm prying it up. Some of these floors have very brittle edges. I use a special tool for this, it uses two face tape, which I like to "dity up" a little bit so the tape comes free easier after use.
That is a wonderful, helpful video and I am going to try to find one of those. If there is a quarter inch gap left by the wall, the pull bar usually firsts in there, also.
I like the double suction cup handle. Great idea. I wouldn't suggest using the pry bar on wood flooring. First put a piece of thin metal like a putty knife on the floor, then use the pry bar on the metal piece and not the floor. I've seen people gouge wood walls and floors with a bar pry bar.

Used a mouse pad by removing the material side and using the foam, 2x4 and hammmer. It worked great, did 2 gaps. Thank you for the hints.

Have laid this type of flooring many times and learned a long time ago to drive a small nail into each end at the wall on each board and then lay your trim mould and never have that problem.

I saw an Instagram reel where they put Gorilla tape on the vinyl floor and then used the double-sided tape and a board on top of that. That worked the same way, but the Gorilla tape was easy to remove from the vinyl.

Brilliant! Thanks for sharing! The shoe method tends to pull your toenails off if you have lots to do! The non-slip stuff with the timber or double-sided tape is definitely the one for me.
Try kicking it backwards, heel first.

This is great advice and going out now to get the supplies I need to close up the gaps in my floor. Floor has been down for about 2 years and now have to gaps. I tried the shoe kicking method before, but no luck. I was not going to pull up the baseboard so I could hammer the gap closed. You just saved me so much time and effort. Thank you!!!
We used peel and stick vinyl tiles in our kitchen when we first bought this house in 2001. The house was built in 1902, and everything in it has settled, shifted, buckled, or slid since then. So even had it been absolutely plumb and square when built -- which I doubt -- it wasn't by 2001!
That being the case, I just picked the squarest wall and laid the tiles along that line. I took a break, and my husband came in and began to try to lay more tiles. However, he chose a different wall to lay his square against, and began to space the tiles out in the attempt to establish a different version of "straight." Yeah, that ended badly. By the time I got back, he had slapped in another two and a half rows of tiles, leaving gaps of about 1/16th of an inch on some places between his first row and my last one. A man knows you love him when you don't kill him for that.
I faced the prospect of either ripping out the rows he had put down, which would have meant I needed to buy more tiles, or figuring out a way to fill the gaps. I had tiles of two colors, light green and ivory, forming a checked pattern. Buying more would have meant buying two boxes, and having many go to waste. I decided to find a way to fill the gaps. To make matters worse, he had left the gaps in the vicinity of the kitchen trash receptacle, at which he threw things from across the room. He missed especially often with coffee grounds, which began to fill the gaps in an unattractive way.
I finally got a tube of ivory latex caulk. I cleaned out the gaps, and squeezed in a thin bead of caulk, then scraped it flat, cleaning of the overflow as I went. When it dried, it was a nearly exact match for the ivory tiles. It's now visible only on close examination; a casual glance will skip tight over it, and has never needed repair. If push came to shove, this might also work where vinyl planks have moved apart.
place a layer of blue painters tape down first, then place the 2x4 with the double-stick tape on to that...very easy to get off the floor with absolutely no mess.

Hey seen this and wanted to add something. For the removal of the wood with the double sided tape. Use a dry wall spatula. 2" as a pry surface to prevent the surface damage. Great video and tricks keep up the good advice.
Agreed. I try to gently wiggle it as I'm prying it up. Some of these floors have very brittle edges.
I use a special tool for this, it uses two face tape, which I like to "dity up" a little bit so the tape comes free easier after use.
here's my idea for the double sided tape idea.. use 3m pull tabs instead for easy removal...

That is a wonderful, helpful video and I am going to try to find one of those. If there is a quarter inch gap left by the wall, the pull bar usually firsts in there, also.

I like the double suction cup handle. Great idea. I wouldn't suggest using the pry bar on wood flooring. First put a piece of thin metal like a putty knife on the floor, then use the pry bar on the metal piece and not the floor. I've seen people gouge wood walls and floors with a bar pry bar.
Good tip. This isn’t wood though is vinyl. Still could dent it with the pry bar but it would take much more than a wood floor
