I sincerely admire your vast knowledge and abilities. I'm grateful for all you share to teach us. This video is so helpful. I haven't undertaken attempting to install my own flooring yet but I do plan to. I'll be saving this video and definitely referencing it when it's time. Thanks again, friend!
Thank you so much! Just wanted to point out some details and preparations before undertaking this project. I have a lot of flooring videos too just check out my flooring playlist. Thank you again my friend! I wish you the best! 👍🏽😊🙏🏽
I remember using that foam the first time and was amazed at the expansion. Too bad they don’t make a nozzle that regulates the flow to avoid waste and an extra step to cut it. Why did you not cover the hole or stuff it to avoid any moisture or air getting through? Great tips and excellent work.
What about Vinyl Plank on concrete surface… Should we always install 6-mil poly sheeting under it ? It makes sense… but it also makes a floor a bit spongy in certain places where it’s not perfectly leveled… thoughts ?
It comes down to the manufacturer, as for this floor brand I used, it said a moisture barrier can be used but not required. Please read carefully the manufacturer’s recommendations. 🙏🏽
Thank you. I want to take the carpet out of my 23 sq ft. closet and install vinyl plank flooring but I'm afraid to start because I don't know what I'm doing.
I would never put down a 1/2" tapered to nothing piece of flooring..... A little planning ahead can totally prevent the need to do that. I measure (using a laser measure tool) several places along each wall to the opposite wall and then draw a diagram of what the room looks like with the largest length and width I measured recorded on the diagram. I then measure the actual exposed length and width of the flooring material (ie NOT including the tongue or grove). I determine the direction I will lay the flooring to achieve the appearance i want. I then divide the length of the actual exposed flooring into the length of the room. If it comes out just under or over an integer number, then I know I CANNOT start with a full piece of material for the first piece that gets laid down. I will start with a partial length plank, say 12 inches short of full. At the end of the first and succeeding row I will cut a piece from a full plank that insures I do not have as small piece left on the end. I do the exact same thing with the width of the room. Divide the width of the room by the width of the exposed plank material. If the result is just under or just over an integer, I start with a board that is less than a full width board. I will typically start with say 3 inches less. I then subtract that 3 inches from the width of the room and then divide this adjusted room width by the width of the actual exposed plank. The result I like to get is about an integer .5 ie X.5 . A result between x.4 and x.6 is acceptable. So my goal is then to have the width of the first plank laid down be between .4 or .6 of the exposed width of the planks I am using. That way the last board laid down is cut from a full board so there are no tiny slivers needed to fill a gap. Works for me every time.....

Had a friend spend $10,000 on her flooring it looks great but left all the squeaky underlayment. Not good
Oh no! So sorry to hear…Yes, could be the subfloor not screwed to the joist. Also certain underlayments may cause that issue.

I take your comment with a grain of salt.
I would be honored and trust him to take on any project at my house.
😮How rude!!! I loved this video and feel confident that I could try and do these floors. Keep up the good work. ❤
Your lack of details, credentials or your own videos certainly has us convinced.
