@@ThatSwedishDrummerpersonally, lots and lots of thanks for being so friendly, accomodating & most of all, motivating me & teaching drums in a "easy to grasp' manner. More power to your channel & let's enjoy life grooving with drums🤙😃
You’re the best! As an instructor I love to see other point of views of how things are taught and approached by other teachers! Keep up the awesome drum videos!
It seems that fir very fast tempo using 2 hands on hit hat is better. I think Stephen Morris from Joy Division/ New Order like to play like this ( like the live on tv for she lost control)
when switching from 8th notes to 16th notes do you count in your head 1 and 2 and 3 and 4, then switch to 1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 for the 16ths or are you always counting the latter?
I did when I started, now it just comes "naturally" and I don't need to count anymore. But depending on the subdivision of what I'm playing - I "feel" or count another subdivision in my head to help me keep time better.
@@ThatSwedishDrummer I’ve been playing the guitar all my life, never even tried the drums. My youngest daughter has had a want to play the drums and recently, (the last year) I’ve been encouraging it more than ever. For Christmas I bought her an electronic set so she can play at her moms house without driving anyone crazy. She tinkered around a bit but without any real guidance she just wasn’t developing any skills. Learning from your videos gives me the ability to teach her a little bit and suddenly she’s jamming! Thanks friend, not only am I enjoying playing the drums but I also get to enjoy teaching and spending fun time together with my girl. It’s really amazing to see her getting better and running with what she’s learned.
I'm using an Octapad with several pads and cymbals in an open-handed configuration. My Hihat is on the right, below the Ride. The 16th notes are from hell. I have to play them with my right hand, I can barely play at 80bmp, and I consider adding a second Hihat right next to the snare. Any advice for playing in an open-handed configuration? I got a Roland D20 right below the Octapad in the middle, making the whole rack look like the bridge of the Enterprise, and frankly, the setup is cool and a lot of fun. It's just that the 16th and fast snare fills are killing me.
That's a good question! I've only played open handed (with an auxiliary hi-hat on my right side) a few times, but I'd still recommend to just focus on practicing the 16th notes slowly and gradually increase the speed. I'm always in favor of using Moeller-technique when playing fast one-handed stuff, so start practicing Moeller strokes!

I like the quick decay on your snare. It has a great punch. My snare rings too much and is mushy. What can I do?
Put some gaff tape or a dampening gel on it.
Thank you!

Could you make a practice session like this but move around the bass drum strokes? I've been working on my foot speed/bass drum patterns. Thank you
I have! Check out my video on bass drum technique: ua-cam.com/video/kW3A3n-72bY/v-deo.htmlsi=cje0fKeqLT5iMt7Q

The drummer in Deep Purple does 16th notes for Smoke On the Water. I just noticed that from watching this.
Indeed he does!
Glad I could help ^^
It’s nice Sir can you tell me which drum set is good with fine high hath like you have
The drum set is a Pearl Reference Series, and the hi hat is a Paiste 15” Formula 602 ME
@@ThatSwedishDrummer Thank you very much Sir
How long have you been playing? I've never thought to ask
I've been playing drums for a bit of 20years. I started right before I turned 11 🔥
Not me doing 16 notes with one hand and dying like an idiot.
Haha that can happen! Everyone's different, but I say go the easiest route!
