I think the reason they couldn’t use blood from dead zombies is because when you kill the human host the demons leave the bodies? Just how I understood it.
I do wish he could've survived or at least went down more of a hero especially when seeing that his actor was so into the part that he free styled about it. It was on the REC 2 Dead meat kill count at 9:47.
Larra's death is a homage/reference to Mariano José de Larra a Spanish XIX Century writer who killed himself in front of a mirror to sse his last reaction
I love how they stuck with the continuity and brought back the same actors for the infected. Still bothered how the elderly couple and Japanese kid just disappeared in the 1st movie though
Realistically, they probably didn't want to risk injuring an elderly couple by having them participate in zombie shenanigans, so they just left their fates ambiguous.
This is one of the few zombie movies where I really felt the zombies were characters in their own right. I remember watching Rec 2 and being happy to see Conchita again! Old girl can't be stopped!
This movie did it too with Mire and Ori. They got locked in a room where Martos was, and the movie ended without addressing their fate. I'd assume when Angela used Owen's voice to say Burn it all Down, meant they were going to set fire to the Building and kill everything inside, including Mire and Ori, like the Bill in the 2010 The Crazies remake, when he burned his house down with his Wife and Kid locked in a Closet.
The accidental headshot is so shocking and frustrating but part of me loves it because that kind of thing would happen in real life. It's like the infamous scene in Hereditary - just the sheer nature of panic and reacting without thinking which leads to a devastating outcome.

The sequel complements the first movie on all aspects. These movies are really well crafted.. Fun fact, One of the cops (the last man standing) was the same actor as the cameraman in the first movie. The first scene with Martos dying had an extended runtime where you see him laying on the floor, disappearing and then coming back as an infected. The kids that got trapped in the room eventually got killed by cops, according to a comic book released shortly after this movie. There is also a comic about the medeiros girl, and her possession, these are called [Rec] 1: (Historias inéditas). The next two movies were shot back to back, the third one takes place in between these two, and the fourth one is after rec 2. If you notice, when they are going to the actic after knowing the girl is there, but they can only see her with night vision, they comment on the fact that they aren't being attacked, as if the infected are allowing them to go there for now.
as a Spanish speaker, it's funny to be able to pick up the different accents of the actors that for you may get lost in the noise. same as I can now pick up accents from New York, LA, Mid-west, Texas, Britain, Australia, etc. from listening. for example the SWAT team at the beginning, one of them is definitely Argentinian or Uruguayan. the Owen guy is definitely European not-Spaniard... probably British or German, speaking real good Spanish.
South Americans pronounce the letter c differently. They pronounce it like an s instead of a th like the Spanish do. The cops are Spanish, none of them are Latin American.
I'm so stoked you guys watched this as well!! I love this franchise so much. I actually really hope you'll watch REC 4 actually. 3 is... just about the massacre of it all haha, I didn't like it much nor does it hold connection to the first two. I love the concept that they introduced in the rec saga. A demonic virus to me seemed like something really original. Hope you guys can finish the whole saga, I’ll be here watching your reactions
What I love about the REC series is how it deviates from your normal zombie’s as in this, they’re essentially Satan’s pawns of mass destruction which I think is a very cool & unique concept that you don’t see a whole lot within these zombie shows/movies! As for REC 2, I do think it is a worthy successor to the first as I love how they do expand upon the lore of how this entire demonic infection takes place. Even so, I do think REC 1 is my overall fave as it’s literally THE one. Anyway, love your guys reaction! ❤
they're not zombies in the first one either. To be a zombie they have to die and come back to life, but they don't do that. Its just like they're not zombies in 28 days later.
I actually liked REC 3. And I think that the reason why a lot of people didn't like it is very simple: TONE. The tone of the movie is extremely different from the previous 2. This one goes in a Evil Dead rout with the camp and the comedy. There's even dome guy dressed like a Sponge Bob Squarepants rip off. And there is a connection with the first one.
