This isn't true by any stretch of the imagination, sorry. It's not even in the top 20, lol. Avatar (2009) is the most profitable film of all time. It had a budget of just under $300m, but brought in just shy of $3B worldwide... so its profits were 2.7 billion, with a B. Even with this movie making $200m, it's nowhere near the top 20 let alone #1.
Shoutout to Tara for sticking throughout this whole film whilst feeling nauseous by the moving camera, I love your reactions so I wanted to say thank you for sticking with it for us 🙏🏻
I hope they don’t make her keep going unless she find a good remedy for the motion sickness, it makes me sad seeing her struggle just to keep watching the film
When the guy comes back to check out the house its always been one of my favorite scenes. He was so cheerful and wanting to help the first time he comes around and the second he walks in the door again he's just completely different energy.

The sound design was fantastic in this film. You could feel the base building as the activity would be approaching. Surround sound is a must in this movie. And they condition you to relax during the day until things start happening in the day time. They eliminate your safe haven as the film starts to wrap things up.

I've seen the Paranormal Activity series so many times that I'm immune to the jump scares. But your reaction reminded me of my experience in theatre and how terrified I was. And I had to sleep with the lights on for the next couple of days. Great series.

If I had to pick just one movie that freaked me out, unnerved me, and left me feeling unsure... it's this one. The effects are simple, but extremely well executed. I don't believe in any of this stuff (ghosts, demons, possession, hell, etc.) as I'm an atheist, but that being said, the movie STILL freaks me out. Well done.
I saw this movie in the theater at a free screening in art school. I’ve seen it multiple times since. This is the first time I’ve watched it with earbuds in and heard the double voice Katie does when she says “I think we’ll be ok now” at 31:58. I’m amazed I can still find new things in this movie. Thanks for the great rewatch!
3 of the OG is definitely the best but after that my favorite is ghost dimension with that freaky camera and the family in the remodeled Katie and Christi’s old home.
Yeah the sheet and babysitter. Will not explain in detail since it would be spoilers but I’m sure u know what I am talking about. But that scene scared me to death
the third movie is in my opinion the best in the series and the most unsettling. Not to mention, it really ties all the lore together and gives u so much insight to Katie’s childhood. that movie sat with me forever and made me afraid to sleep in the dark😭
This film came out when I was 10 years old and I remember kids used to brag about seeing it as a show of how brave they were. A lot of kids were definitely lying but it’s crazy that it immediately became sort of a metric by which other horror films were compared to. Btw I didn’t watch it until I was 15 lol Also, there are multiple endings you could find on UA-cam if you’re interested in watching.
I was 9 when it came out, and 10 when I watched it, it kept me up all night for about 2 weeks 😭😂 then the 3rd one came out and I got paranoid about my hair for the next year 😭
I saw a comment on Tik Tok that paranormal activity is one scene away from a paranormal romance and I can’t stop thinking about that. And that the ghost grows more and more upset when the boyfriend does things he’s told not to do and is trying to show the main actress how bad her boyfriend is
This damn movie scared the crap out of me when I first watched it. I still get unsettled watching them sometimes. 😅 Also I love how it builds tension every night with something new happening. It’s completely unsettling.
I've watched alot of UA-camr reactions to this movie, and yours was the best!!! You acted and felt exactly how I felt when I watched it while living alone 😮 I still can't sleep with my foot outside the blanket! Also, I didn't sleep for a week, and I only went to sleep when the sun came up! 😅😅
He's so bad it's like he's a bf from an AITA post. "My bf refused to stop filming us 24/7 and kept antagonizing the demon haunting me until I was possessed and murdered him. AITA?"
I was looking for this comment, I'm so mad at him right now and it's not even halfway through. He ignored every warning AND her own wishes, he gets what he deserves. Unfortunately she gets cursed with his stupidity and arrogance.
Refuse to believe it all you want amigos, it only takes one interaction for you to NEVER question it again. Most of the time these things happen because somebody messed with the supernatural, and their own ignorant understanding of the situation just exacerbated things further. It would be lovely to think demons and monsters don’t exist, but the fortunate reality is that they absolutely do exist. Makes for a more entertaining reality if you ask me. God bless and stay safe✌🏻
I think the music is supposed to sound similar to tubular bells which was used in the exorcist. More than likely copyright meant they couldn't use tubular bells.
I could see that but I've always saw it as Micah trolling the situation by playing creepy music, it fits his character to do something like that, poking fun of the situation as he didn't believe in all that stuff, he was just going along because Katie believed & wanted help on what to do.
IT and The Haunting of Bly Manor. The original miniseries of IT,not the remakes, because I was wayyyy too young to watch it at the time I first saw it and made me afraid of clowns. And yes I know Bly Manor is a TV show not a movie but it gave me horrible nightmares.
This was the start of my favorite horror sub genre, Found Footage. Ever since I saw this movie with my dad in early 2010s I found myself always watching Found Footage type of horror. Something about it, maybe just the thought of this recordings just being found and someone sitting there and watching it and being horrified. It just makes me enjoy the hell outta these movies.
The best found footage is The Blair Witch Project which inspired this movie but, Tara won't be able to handle it if this type of shaky cam makes her sick. It's the best movie but it's got the most shaky cam. For those who don't have a problem with it it's fine, but if you get motion sickness you won't be able to handle it.
I had just moved to a new house and all we had was the living room furniture moved in. I was staying the night sleeping on the couch, alone, and this movie freaked me right the f#%^ out. New houses creak wierd and I was up all night, lol...
This duo and this movie was a perfect combo. Ive seen many reactors react to this series and this has by been one of my favorites. I hope the continue with all the movies.
17:25 I've had a similar thing happen to me with a plant once. I had a friend and her boyfriend over to my house once and she mentioned that she had a spirit or something that followed her around. While they were at my place, a plant of mine moved like that. There wasn't any air flow in the house, no earthquakes, nobody moving around, nobody else was home, nothing. Yet the plants leaves moves on its own. They never came over again after that.
the thing is: you guys don't get the absolute terror I felt when they pretended it was a true story, and that the demon was still out there running around free. lol that was how it was promoted, and I couldn't sleep that whole night or watch any horror films for a few years afterwards because of it. after i started seeing sequels etc, I realizd it was just a gimmick but they still got me xD
I'd been on a couple ghost hunts by the time this movie came out and I remember being soooo impressed with how the first few unexplainable moments were super subtle and/or debunked, because that's what it's actually like. 😊
So glad you watched this. I'm sorry you watched this. Hereditary was more disturbing, but this film was put together so well and the scares were *real*
33:08 i was dating thos woman and saw it in theaters because ahe wanted to. By the end of the movie she was crying in fear. I felt really bad needless tobsay we never saw the following films
Ginger, Dramamine, and sniffing rubbing alcohol will help with nausea! I have such terrible motion sickness I rely on a Scopolamine patch behind my ear every day- there are lots of tricks that can help. For shaky cam movies, I highly recommend Dramamine about 30 minutes before you hit play, and keep some Ginger Ale, Sprite, and/or rubbing alcohol nearby for bad waves. The second movie has a bit of shaky/handheld cam stuff, but it's a lot more mounted cameras so hopefully it's not as terrible (it's also my favorite).
Fun Fact: Oren Peli(director of this film) also directed, Área 51 another found footage horror movie which i recommend. Regarding this film the scariest part for me i'm my opinion wasn't the ending, but the foot steps scene. I remember myself watching it with my cousin and in the foot steps scene i was like "oh my God what the hell is that" 😮.
There's actually a couple of alternate endings to this. In one, the demon makes Katie slit her throat instead of lunge at the camera, and in the other the police show up in the morning and shoot Katie when the demon makes a noise that startles them.
Fun Fact : Steven Spielberg attended a test screening of this movie and was so scared by the movie that he couldn't watch it in one sitting. His positive word of mouth is what convinced Paramount Pictures to acquire the rights. Spielberg also suggested a different ending which is what we got right now instead of the director's original ending which was two policemen shot Katie to death after she tried to stab them with a knife
The ending crushed the theaters! I saw this before it got re-released and after. They way they improved it is INSANE up into DVD, it was like watching a live edited movie. There's at least 3-4 different edits of this film
Tara’s feelings of nausea particularly regarding the horror that occurs in this film is exactly how I felt when watching these movies for a while. I’m so so soooooo happy you guys are reacting to this franchise it’s a gem!
I watched this movie for the first time a few years back on my phone in my room with the lights off and I remember almost throwing my phone when Micah was thrown at the camera at the end😂 Please continue the rest of the series🙏
Tara & me both have the same "oh good, they're putting it back on the stand" reaction to shaky-cam apparently. She might want to try anti-motion sickness medication if someone tells her ahead of time it's going to be a shaky-cam movie, that's what I use.
You honestly HAD to be in the theater with a packed crowd when this film first came out back in 2009. It was truly a one of a kind experience and really reinvigorated the found footage genre..
Appreciate Tara sticking with this, given the headache and shaky cam, but both of your reactions were great fun to watch! It freaked me out when I saw it because it played into my worst fears (especially the heavy footsteps), and I will never not jump at that ending! I also think the actors did a far more believable job than most have done in similar films! This was fun, guys!
I feel like it's more terrifying that a building may not be haunted and instead it's you whose haunted because you can run from yourself unless you take an extreme measure(I say extreme measure because I don't want to mention it outright).
I didn’t want this reaction to end! I really really hope you guys react to at least the next 2 movies. I still remember seeing the first 3 in the theater and see a whole audience in person react and freak out.
This is BY FAR my favorite horror movie and franchise as well. These movies are the only ones that truly make my skin crawl. I cannot watch any of them alone in the dark. Absolutely impossible. Grew up with films like The Thing, Alien, The Fly, The Exorcist and other classic horrors... none of them even remotely phased me from the age of 9 or 10 and above. Paranormal Activity is just the benchmark of how to build tension and anxiety. Even now when i watch your reaction guys, i have the goosebumps all over and i feel tensed up and constantly looking around, thinking something is lurking behind me. Despite knowing this movie by heart after watching it more tha 100 times, it still chills my blood right down. For me personally there is something primal and absolutely terrifying about the paranormal stuff. As for how good the actors were and the editing was - in an interview, both the actors shared that when the film came out, their relatives and friends kept ringing and checking on them, because they were that believable. Finally, amazing reaction video.
I've never understood why some people get sick from first person motion on a screen, be it movies or video games. I can understand the handycam style being annoying in some cases because it can make it difficult to follow what's happening, but the sickness? It's still just motion on a screen. Might have to look into the biology of why that happens. Also, dude that played Micha (also named Micha) should have won an Oscar. He is one of the most genuinely dislikable characters in film history. And you just KNOW that there are tons of guys out there that are exactly like him.
Oh! Thank you for fulfilling my request to have Roxy or Tara watch the Cloverfield or Paranormal Activity series! I remember constantly commenting on every reaction video you guys posted back then, dozens of times-just to ask you to watch these films. I'm so happy! Greetings from Indonesia.🇮🇩 I also remember when Roxy account sent love to my comment that made me so happy😁
YES!!! Yall are killing it with the horror films this Halloween season. As a found footage fanatic, this franchise and Cloverfield are really what got me into into ff films. Hope you do all of them lol
Just realized that the when Micah questions the demon " What is your quest ? What is your favourite color" might be a reference to The Holy Grail by Monthy Python ?
I hate that they sleep with their door open. Im not a superstitions persom, but sleeping with the door open is crazy! I wonder if you two could watch Skinamarink. I cant, the static effect is too much, especiallu since i have that snow effect in dark spaces. I wonder if they would be scared or bored
Great reaction! Shout-out to Tara for sticking with it. This franchise is the series that haunts me and horrifies me in the daytime. I saw the 3rd one in theaters and probably screamed for 80% of the movie.
I saw this movie REALLY early into its 09 run before it was even at all the local theaters and the scene of Katie being pulled into the hallway is still the most terrified I’ve ever been in a theater. We all SCREAMED.
Such a masterful little concept of a movie :D It ramps up SO GOOD and then breaks it's own rule about daytime being safe. I love it. That leg pull escalation was just top tier.
Tara, I feel you, glad you finished it. I wasn't able to finish "The Quarantined" in one go. Hope you can react to the next one, i used to not like this film but then recently I watched all of them and realized how good it is.

Please watch them all! People say they fall off but the first 3 at least are genuinely just fun horror films
Relax! It’s just Toby. He’s harmless.
LOL "harmless"
I had just moved to a new house and all we had was the living room furniture moved in. I was staying the night sleeping on the couch, alone, and this movie freaked me right the f#%^ out. New houses creak wierd and I was up all night, lol...
This duo and this movie was a perfect combo. Ive seen many reactors react to this series and this has by been one of my favorites. I hope the continue with all the movies.
If you guys want more creepy found-footage/handheld camera type horror movies you guys should really watch both the Creep movies
I remember being absolutely infatuated with Katie growing up.
That’s odd
Same. She is gorgeous. I don't blame Mika for sticking around. 😅
She is pretty hot though
oooh yeeeeehhh
Question is, if ur in a relationship, does the current one look like Katie haha
Legendary jump scare at end, especially in theaters with a packed crowd.
Part 2 and 3 are my favorites, hope you watch the rest of the movies.
the thing is: you guys don't get the absolute terror I felt when they pretended it was a true story, and that the demon was still out there running around free. lol that was how it was promoted, and I couldn't sleep that whole night or watch any horror films for a few years afterwards because of it.
after i started seeing sequels etc, I realizd it was just a gimmick but they still got me xD
Try living out in the middle of nowhere by yourself watching this. Thank good for my dogs. Scared the crap out of me!!
These are so good with tone. Even the one with Katherine Newton feels kind of real even though she's a very recognizable movie star.
I'd been on a couple ghost hunts by the time this movie came out and I remember being soooo impressed with how the first few unexplainable moments were super subtle and/or debunked, because that's what it's actually like. 😊
i hope you do all of them! great reaction!
The KING of found footage horror films! It did what Bair Witch wanted to do but didn't!
She says "Micah? Micah?" and lunges at them with the knife and *then* they shoot her.
Watched this on opening night and the theater reaction was absolutely amazing. Great movie as well.
I'm ready for y'all to continue this series.
THE BEGINNING OF THE END.
There are THREE different endings, Theatrical, Original and Alternate.
The ending crushed the theaters!
I saw this before it got re-released and after. They way they improved it is INSANE up into DVD, it was like watching a live edited movie. There's at least 3-4 different edits of this film
Y’all have to do the 2nd part! Please! These are so much fun to watch!
Tara’s feelings of nausea particularly regarding the horror that occurs in this film is exactly how I felt when watching these movies for a while. I’m so so soooooo happy you guys are reacting to this franchise it’s a gem!
I loved this reaction. You must watch Host. It was filmed during covid and it's premier is a zoom seance. It is brilliant. X
I watched this movie for the first time a few years back on my phone in my room with the lights off and I remember almost throwing my phone when Micah was thrown at the camera at the end😂
Please continue the rest of the series🙏
I loved this reaction and was hoping this channel would react to this franchise. I really hope y'all react to all of them!
I love these movies so much. Emily is such an underrated horror movie character lmao.
1:00 thought this was something else
I don't know what i saw but i'm afraid now
Great job grinding through Tara these films were so underrated horror genre wise .
Andrew sir you’re too cute when ur scared lol great watch guys
I've never understood why some people get sick from first person motion on a screen, be it movies or video games. I can understand the handycam style being annoying in some cases because it can make it difficult to follow what's happening, but the sickness? It's still just motion on a screen. Might have to look into the biology of why that happens.
Also, dude that played Micha (also named Micha) should have won an Oscar. He is one of the most genuinely dislikable characters in film history. And you just KNOW that there are tons of guys out there that are exactly like him.
i remember being 13 in the theater with some friends and this movie really was creepy at the time . a good theater experience for me
Oh! Thank you for fulfilling my request to have Roxy or Tara watch the Cloverfield or Paranormal Activity series! I remember constantly commenting on every reaction video you guys posted back then, dozens of times-just to ask you to watch these films. I'm so happy! Greetings from Indonesia.🇮🇩
I also remember when Roxy account sent love to my comment that made me so happy😁
Great reaction. I'm spooked!
This is great! I hope y’all do the rest of the series
YES!!! Yall are killing it with the horror films this Halloween season. As a found footage fanatic, this franchise and Cloverfield are really what got me into into ff films. Hope you do all of them lol
There is a special place in my heart for this movie
Check out the movies Host(2020), As Above So Below(2014), and Insidious(2010). Also, all the other paranormal activities as well.
As Above So Below 🔥🔥💯
There was an old sega genesis game where you play a poltergeist trying to scare a family out of a mansion.
Such a masterful little concept of a movie :D
It ramps up SO GOOD and then breaks it's own rule about daytime being safe. I love it.
That leg pull escalation was just top tier.
Tara, I feel you, glad you finished it. I wasn't able to finish "The Quarantined" in one go.
Hope you can react to the next one, i used to not like this film but then recently I watched all of them and realized how good it is.
