doesn't always activate when it should; but of course it's only a beta. Wondering if my bike gloves are interfering. Wish there was a second gesture so that you can select after advancing. Hope they add that.
Great explainer, Dave!!! You didn't mention it (as available) and I think I read somewhere that there is no double tap functionality during activities. This would seem to be a big disadvantage. Using it for laps or waypoints or particularly during a swim workout for pause or lap would be a great use case. I wonder if, like with low power mode, by running it in a separate process it messes with heart rate or gps acquisition or just the fidelity or accuracy. Hopefully this will be something they can add in a later update.
The basic double tap I’ve experience on 10.0x, its fine. I cant wait for a future scroll action (passing thumb over fingers) feature to be implemented. I need more of them.
Thanks for the video, explanation was great. I'm having trouble with getting the double tap feature to work when playing UA-cam music. I can double tap to get the stack info but not music? Do you have any advice?
I am using the basic feature that comes with 10.0x on AWU2 and I am already conditioned. I am double tapping all the time without thinking about it. I found myself, pausing the TV with double tap with out even thinking about it. When back to my APv6 and double tapped and felt like one of my limbs was missing.
@@achekholbeckal889 don’t feel sorry for me, I love it. I am updating to 10.1 so I will have native hardware double tap. My v6 can use accessibility version. Fantastic!!!
Sir, thanks for the video! I have a question for you. I have disabled the auto pause feature but my runs keep getting paused, have you experienced anything like that?
@@ChaseTheSummitHi thanks for the reply…it turned out to be user error 🤦♂️. It was tight enough, so I did some googling. Found out it doesn’t work if the watch is in sleep focus mode, which it was at the time of watching your video.
VO2 Max is similar to Garmin but there's no "readiness" score or race predictor on apple out of the box. To get those features you'll need to download third party apps like Athlytic or HealthFit.
Switch double tap off. Switch always on display off and reduce brightness to lowest setting and watch the battery life 😉 All 3 are features you really don’t need, the greater battery life…well, you’re welcome.
Seriously, I don't like this feature. There was never a need for the double feature and people seemed to go about their day without even thinking of how a double tap feature will improve their Apple Watch experience. I prefer to use my fingers to physically navigate the watch.
@@johnt6022 I get your point. I think what you're missing is that just because you think it's a meaningless feature doesn't mean that the other 120 million people wearing apple watches won't find it useful. I also don't think "double tap" added any cost to the watch. So yes, if you don't like it... turn it off. If I could trade in double tap for more battery life I would... But that doesn't mean it's not something someone might find value in.
@@ChaseTheSummitThe first thing double tap does is sell the watch. LOL. What I find it useful for, even it it was the only use, is to take pictures. I also wanted to mention that you do not have to include the 3 second delay. If you utilize immediate, it seems to me there is a fraction of a second delay, which will [also] work for selfie/tripod use and avoid jostling the watch during photography. Thanks for the video. I did have to upgrade the software, to what is no longer a beta version, to use it.
I wish snoozing an alarm with double tap could work without waking the screen
Interesting stuff. Still thinking about getting the Apple Watch ultra. This helps understand what it can do. Thanks.
Thanks to chase i might be switching to apple next year . Lol
I have an ultra one watch and it works on it

Hopefully they’ll add double tap functionality to the workout app one day soon.
I asked about that. It was explained to me that there’s too much movement during activities to isolate the wrist/finger movement. Maybe someday!
@@ChaseTheSummit I figured that much. Makes sense.

I really hope work outdoors will add funcionality for it
Yep. I was hoping I could pause and restart a workout/run/walk with double tap.
I find the call pick up isn’t as reliable as navigating an app with double tap on ultra watch 2. I get it’s a beta so hopefully will improve.
For me isn’t working for calls and alarms ⏰

Man this feature would be everything if you could also click not just scroll through your widgets!
Excelente saludos desde México ✌🏻
Keep going Dave!
Pretty interesting feature! Great video again, Dave!
All I can say is wow your video about double tap on my ultra 2 is amazing I’ve subscribed to your channel nice one 👍
Not just low power mode that disables it. Sleep mode does as well… except for the alarm.

Great vid! Qucik question.....If I get a "WhatsApp" notification/message, can I also double tap to answer/reply to it via my voice as well?
As long as a text field is present in the notification like an Instagram message or text message it should work.
@@ChaseTheSummit 🙏Thank you for letting me know!
Turning off in low power mode is expected, since they have said that Double Tap uses the sensors, which generally get disabled in low power mode.
You don’t have to look at the watch just pick up your wrist like if you were looking at it
How do I answer called on my Apple Watch 9 because not work for me :(
With the new double tap feature I am no longer able to dismiss my notifications with a double tap.
I was able to get watchOS 10.1 beta 2 without upgrading the iOS to 17.1
I dont like i have spotidy and cant control it with double tap just for apple music

Maybe you can adjust that off on the watch on the iPhone. Just a thought.
What watch band is on your ultra?
I’ve got a gen 1 ultra with 10.1 it says new double tap feature in the update notes. When I go into gestures it’s only cover to mute. What gives?
I didn’t update my phone and it still works
You sure? Are you on Beta 10.1? Or are you using the old accessibility tap settings?
My phone is on 17.0.3 my watch is 10.1 I didn’t update my phone… I was still able to update my watch.
How you have that watch so tight lol
Double tap doesn’t do anything for me on my series 9, even though it’s enabled in settings and running the latest watch OS 🤦♂️
Hmm, it should. Try tightening your strap down a bit. If the strap is loose it has a hard time picking up the movement.
@@ChaseTheSummitHi thanks for the reply…it turned out to be user error 🤦♂️. It was tight enough, so I did some googling. Found out it doesn’t work if the watch is in sleep focus mode, which it was at the time of watching your video.
The double tap dosent work on spotify
Also YT music!
Pretty impressive! How do VO2Max and Readiness compare to Garmin watches? No race predictions I take it?

@@ChaseTheSummit thanks, but oops, that was supposed to be posted in the Amazfit video! I'll repost over there.
I’m on watch ios 10.0.2 and my iPhone 14PM is on ios 17.0.3 and I don’t have Gestures on my ultra 2. Would you know why?
You need Beta 10.1 on the watch for this to work right now
@@ChaseTheSummit appreciate chu.
same here!! thanks for asking this question.
I have a series 9 and double pinch not showing in the gestures page in settings?
Update your watch
Only problem is beta updates isn’t even a option on mine
You’ll need to enroll in the beta program.
did apple fixed the auto dimming in dark environment?
Haven’t noticed a difference
Bye
How to get get the double tap to work with the camera? I have the series 9
Open the “camera remote app” on your watch and it should work automagically
You are wearing a very nice ring, is it an intelligent ring with health functionalities?
It’s an Ultrahuman Ring Air. I have a review on my channel about it!
Will we be able to turn of auto brightness 😢?
Nope, still always on.
Is it possible to take pictures with double tap on the watch8?
No, only series 9 or Ultra 2
Switch double tap off. Switch always on display off and reduce brightness to lowest setting and watch the battery life 😉
All 3 are features you really don’t need, the greater battery life…well, you’re welcome.
“Don’t need” is pretty subjective but thanks for sharing.
My watch ultra 2 does not work double tap feature yet.iOs 17.0.0. My watch is 10.0.2. But do not work yet. Why?Explain. Please
iOS17.0.3
Because double tap is in the beta for watchOS 10.1
Καλό βίντεο.🙏
Does this work on the 8?
No only series 9 or ultra 2
Which Apple Watch band are you using on your Apple Watch Ultra 2?
The trail band in Gray/Green.
What’s the point of just going through stacks when you can’t go into them without your other hand
Because they display information like news headlines and weather forcecasts.
It doesn’t recognize Spotify
That's strange.
No need to update the ios just updating the ioswatch to 10.1 beta is enough.
From my understanding you don't have the 10.1 option unless your phone is also on beta. I could be wrong!
Yes I can use double tap without updating the phone.
Tried this feature and i dont lile it i tap my fingers it wont answer a call or a txt message i rather physically press the menu with my fingers
I did the beta and can’t find the option anywhere?
It should just work. No settings required. Are you on Beta 10.1?
@@ChaseTheSummit yup 10.1. I do not have it.
Settings/gestures/enable double tap
