I NEVER wear a watch to bed. I’m 70. Saw a UA-cam video about the Apple Watch sleep feature and, being bored, I decided to set up my AW Ultra and wear it to bed. In the morning I saw that I had 12 warnings of “low heart rate”. Told my primary care doc. He told me “those watches are pretty meaningless” but decided to cover his ass and ordered a Zio Monitor for me to wear for 7 days. When he received the results 14 days after prescribing the monitor he called me and told me to go directly to the local hospital ER. When I got there my heart rate was 32. I had an emergency cardiac pacemaker implant and the surgeon told me I would have very likely died in my sleep within the next 2-5 days. So there you go….

The problem is most doctors I’ve met were laughing at me for saying based on my stats I wanna get checked out because they said an apple watch is no medical device so it’s just a toy … after asking many times they should do some tests because I had bad stats it turned out I had lung inflammation sorry for my poor english
They need a bit of education then don’t they , I watched a video the other day from a guy that does a lot of testing of the smart watches and compares them in depth , and Apple Watches sensors where towards the top of the pack .
A pulse oximeter will give you exactly the same SPo2 and pulse readings has the Apple Watch. The ECG function on the watch can detect AF which is a red flag for anyone with heart problems. So doctors seriously need to re-educate themselves on these functions on Apple Watches or Samsung.
I referenced heart rate and blood oxygen from my Apple Watch 7 when we called an ambulance for a fall I had. The attending paramedics gave me the awkward, patronizing, body language. However the watch agreed with their measurements, precisely. I've also tested it against the equipment as part of my Bruce Protocol Treadmill test. Heart rate was right on.
@@K4getora For me, it's the design. Though I've never owned an Apple Watch before, comparing the new to the old ones, the Series 10 is really sleek. It also doesn't hurt your wrist-you won't feel a thing. My wrist size is 6.5 inches, and I went for the 42mm, which I can say is the best size for me. Overall, it's a nice watch. The features are similar to the Series 9, but since it's a new watch with a new processor, better sensors, a new design, and a year more of updates than the previous series, I think it's worth spending a bit more. Great video, very informative. The good thing about the Apple Watch is it’s everywhere. Many nurses and doctors also wear one, so their awareness of its level of accuracy is high. It’s enough to point them in the right direction on what to check for.
The health benefits of the watch has saved my life twice. It alerted me when I was in afib and I was able to get to the ER. Also, it has helped me track my sleep which I used to have issues with but have since fixed that too.
Great Video. Very informative. May I suggest that by adding an outline, plus captions to mark each section, people would feel less lost in longer reviews.
Great Video. I bought the Apple Watch 9 last November due to my two stays in the hospital for Heart Failure. My Blood Oxygen Reading Is Important. I drop below 90. My Watch has the Blood Oxygen Technology before they had to quit selling them. Well, one day in September I wasn't feeling well at all. Long story short, my Apple Watch alerted me to get Medical Help Immediately. Something to that effect, I can't really remember everything that day. But my Watch was monitoring me. I knew what was happening again, but I was impressed with the watch. I ended up in the hospital for 9 days and I haven't been back to work since. Takes awhile to recover. Thought I'd share that to let you know it really works when you need it to!
Great video! I love my Apple Watch Ultra! At this point, O can’t imagine giving it up. The health tracking, alone, make it worth getting. The conveniences just add more cool reasons to have one. I chose the Ultra because I was an avid diver. Even if I never get back to diving, I think Apple Watches are now a permanent part of me!
New Apple Watch user here. S10 black Aluminium. I don’t think the titanium premium is worth for a device that eventually gets obsolete and cycles through its battery so much. I really like the fitness and sleep tracking features. Heart rate and sleep tracking is some of the best out there (Quantified Scientist has a great review about them) and looking at the rings constantly remind me to keep my fitness on track.
Thank you for this informative video! I have one question about dual-frequency GPS. This feature is crucial for me, and I’m planning to buy the Apple Watch Series 10. Since it doesn’t come with dual-frequency GPS, can it use the dual-frequency GPS from my iPhone 16, or would I need to go for the Apple Watch Ultra instead?
Apple had to remove the Blood Oxygen capabilities from new watches pending some sort of patent infringement issue… hope they can bring it to the new watches soon!
With all the new apple devices released recently,… only the Apple Watch got my attention. So I upgraded from S5 to the cellular Series 10 46mm. * I still have the iPhone XR (6 years old phone), and I don’t feel I need to upgrade yet
Yes the Apple Watch has helped a lot for 10 years now it is very useful i got mine from amazon a few days ago and im loving it already. Btw What kind of Apple Watch are you using for this video?
Every so often my Watch thinks I’ve fallen when I haven’t. That in itself is very irritating. Then one time, about 4 years ago we were having a terrible heatwave and our AC went out. The AC company couldn’t come out that day so we stuck it out and I was drinking tons of water. At one point I got up to go put water on my head and I fainted and as I fell I slammed my head against a door jamb and knocked myself out. I came to with my sister-in-law calling my name. I ended up going to the hospital for a couple days. A few days after I got home a friend asked if my Watch had detected my fall. I thought about it for a few seconds and realized that No! My watch had not detected my fall. Very disappointing, but I still do rely on my Apple Watch every single day.
Cellular is better because then you can leave your phone at home when you’re being active combined with the AirPods. I don’t even use my phone anymore.
I love it too, but the battery man… is moving me towards Garmin (Fenix 7, 7 pro, 8, forerunner 955, 965, Enduro 2, 3 among others) …. Garmin posses significant better battery life, and health (no need to upgrade after 3 years retuning to a Watch that you can inherit) better physiological parameters collection, presentation, summary, analysis useful to the athlete user, full on device topological maps for truly usable navigation on device too, in addition to all other Apple Watch traits… therefore, I don’t understand why Apple, totally capable of doing it better keep downgrading the battery, physiological parameters, topological maps and navigation. I won’t buy another Apple Watch in the future despite 7 years of wearing series 1,2, and 5. I’ll go for a Garmin for sure.
I'm very curious: with the very short battery life these watches have (I think a charge would be good for one day only), and they have sleep tracking etc., it means that they expect you to wear them even at night. So, when are you supposed to charge the watch?!
My routine is to charge mine during dinner time. I have gen 5 and will surely be at the Apple store on the 20th to buy the X model. Note that new model will charge in 30 minutes.
Someone who is fully in the Apple ecosystem system and had two Apple Watches I sold one and returned the other as I found it pointless. All I used it for was the time, stop watch and used my Old £7 Casio to time my runs instead. Impressive but Apple Watch is basically better for 65 years plus. Just got a Garmin 265s, wow it’s life changing 😎
Battery is better than it claims. I use the S10 46mm,.. I used it for 24 hours including 2 hours on workout mode, always on display, wake up on raise, etc and battery was 30% after 24 hours.
