This was a GREAT video. It showed us exactly what to do to install it. The whole repair took under 40 minutes. We ended up getting the LCM5 directly from Amazon, with the tool kit and unlocker (which we didn't need), it was $50 and it was delivered the next day after I ordered it. The best part of all was that the part fixed the Corvette. We are now able to drive it. Thanks again for the video!!!!
Man I CANNOT give you enough COMPLIMENTS on an EXCELLENT installation video! Your Camera Quality was top-notch and the audio for yourself was perfect and EASY to hear and understand your audible instructions! GREAT job working in a TIGHT spot and STILL managing to capture EVERY important image that a DIY guy is going to NEED to be able to SEE! THANK you for taking the time to do a QUALITY video!
I must say compliance parts have EXCELLENT customer support ! I am 71 years old and I still am a auto tech but on a limited basis I installed a LMC5 kit on a 1997 6 speed car and every time I called they answer ALL my questions can't remember when I had that good customer support in this day and age .BTW thanks for the great video
Couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my 02 and brought up this video and tried it and bam !! Works like a charm !! Thanks so much for the info and video. The directions were good but I used the video to walk me thru step by step. Thanks again guys !! Awesome !!
Compliance Parts has awesome customer service. Ran into a snag during install and they answered and helped me through. Don’t get left stranded! Although it does seem to be part of the Chevy experience....
Thanks for the advice. You were spot on about the instruction. I was able to install in about 20-30 mins and got rid of remove key wait 10 sec and column lock display. Thanks for the video.
These shut down at 1.5 mph - pretty much as the clutch comes out.. TIP. run a 3M scotchbrite (either color) over the hex tool a few times to smooth it and then put a bit of silicone grease on it to help the pins pop out easier. Great video.
Mucho thanks, this helped a lot when I did this to my '03 C5 today (along with their skip-shift kit). Only problem was releasing the wire-pins, but they eventually came out (you have to push the wire fully into the plug then push with the tool, then wiggle a bit).
Test drove one today that has the bypass and for some reason got the message remove key for 10 seconds as i tried leaving dealership, they had also just changed the battery. IS there anything else that makes you remove key for 10 seconds, also noticed have to flip key in ignition to make memory seat and steering wheel move when getting in and out.
Great video bro! My c5 corvette has already had an Lmc5 installed before i bought this vehicle but the “service column lock” on dash came on do y’all know what it could be ?
I installed mine on my 97 c5 due to the steering wheel locking up 3x in a row. Now my steering wheel doesn’t lock, where did I go wrong and how do I fix it.
Mine doesn't have a relay it has a plug but it doesn't have one right beside it's just one so I'm going to try doing the job without unplugging it and cuz I have no idea where it's at or if it even has one.... but just in case help me if u can
Sorry this reply is "late" , the LMC5 fix is @$49.00 on Ebay...one issue...you MUST unlock the column first before you install, you can do it with some "speaker wire"...or get the jump kit from Compliance ..
I did every thing it said but that relay if that is unplugged in my c5 then the car wont start and the steering is still locked . This whole process has been easy for everyone but me hahaha . Great video wish I knew what else was wrong with mine .
Make sure, the steering wheel was unlocked and the actuator not in "spring-loaded-lock" position. It basically means, that the lock motor already activated and pushed the lock tab out, but the plate it tries to lock into was not yet in position. To prevent that, simply put the key in the ignition, you will hear the lock motor work for a second and once it has unlocked the column, open the fuse box next to the BCM and pull fuse #23. Pull the key, disconnect the negative battery terminal and continue on as shown in this video. It should work. =)
Thank you I ended up buying the bypass to unlock the steering now she is fine and of course the motor for the window goes out on me hahaha it is always something . Have a great weekend cant tell you how much these videos have helped me.
Sooo what does one do if they installed the LMC5 with the steering column locked..? I made this mistake without knowing at the time. Now i am stuck and not sure how to move forward.
I have a 2000 Corvette, when I start the car Service Vehicle Soon appears, I was just at the deal they checked for codes nothing. they cleared but as soon I turn off the car and turn it back on it shows up again any ideas what can be. I got the car last week the previous owner told me that he changed the battery the week before then he took that battery back out and put another one in. think that did it?
Roger Jeep Posse Yes with battery issues and low voltage the system will have a stroke. Happens all's the time on mine, just reset the car and it should go away and be fine. Just make sure the battery is always 100 percent.
NOTE: Do not inset the capped, brown LMC5 wire, as it will not be needed in the vast majority of LMC5 installations. The box on page 2 describes an optional future procedure with this brown wire which can correct some additional BCM irregularities.

Excellent DIY video. The LMC5 worked perfectly in our 6 speed 2003 50th Anniversary convertible. Thanks!!!
Excellent video! The LMC5 cured my steering lock and fuel cut off problem. Took me an hour and I was driving again.
My c5 cut off I can move 2 mph starup good but I can drive it

Finding and watching a video done this well is a welcomed experience. How it has 11 dislikes, I'm not sure. Very well done. Thank you.
A job well done, this is my problem, and you just save me from call a tow truck and a big fee from the dealer. Thank you so much.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for taking the time to make these vids. Now I can fix my car thanks to you. Way cool.
Just purchased and installed tonight, other than worrying about breaking the plastic clips, it was very detailed and it worked like a charm!

Beautifully clear HD video! Very nice tutorial! Well done!!

Awesome video bud.
All info, no music or bs
Well done.
Thank you.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I own a 99 as well and had the same problem. Fixed with the compliance part LMC5 with no issues!
Thanks for the helpful video.
Went it as you showed, with a fair amount of contortion on my part!
Just bought mine! It was $40 and the cheapest shipping was $3. Much better than taking it to the dealer and paying several hundred.
And having the GM fix not fix it...

very helpful thank you, mine is '98 does not have the relay.

Great video. Are there any solutions (fuses / relays) to check before installing this fix?
I had that problem did that procedure worked great had a new clutch put in and it’s doing it again should I replace it again
Very informative video.
Really good video. Thank you!!
Good video. Thanks.
Great video bro!
My c5 corvette has already had an Lmc5 installed before i bought this vehicle but the “service column lock” on dash came on do y’all know what it could be ?
Search for "Brown Wire Mod". Many Vettes need that as well, the later LMC5 kits include that.
Thanks. Worked like a champ!
good video!
It makes things much easier if you take the seat out.
I see a lot of options for this on Amazon, are they all the same?
I installed mine on my 97 c5 due to the steering wheel locking up 3x in a row. Now my steering wheel doesn’t lock, where did I go wrong and how do I fix it.
amazing
THANK YOU
EXELENTE 👍👍👍

Any recommendation for an automatic transmission?
I installed the lcm5 as the video was shown except when i start it up and release the e brake the headlights come on, Any ideas would help out
After I installed the part the car will run but when I’m driving it still says service steering lock column. Any idea why it’s doing this ?
Good and informativ video. Thanks.

Installed according to instructions now check engine light is on and as soon as I release the clutch it shuts off, what did I do wrong
How much is the part? I paid GM $750.00 to to fix this issue plus paid to tow it in.

what is the brown wire for what you not use it !!!!!!

@@StormTrooperFN2187 Is the brown wire for the "pull the key and wait 10 seconds"...fault ...to fix it ??
Still shuts off
Only one model don't need that it's Corvette c5 2003 automatic ......
