23:50 Tanks being incapable of destroying saferoom doors that have NOT had the bar removed yet is strictly for gameplay purposes as far as I'm aware. And they can 100% delete saferoom doors if the map's been 'started' (survivors left the saferoom or are taking too long in Versus.) Metal door strong but I don't think that's an issue for a walking pound of muscle that casually rips concrete out of the ground then hurls it unbelievably far. Though that said, I'd imagine a tank breaking down the saferoom door would be much, much more violent and messy.
@@xSavLandx A tank routinely punches multi-thousand pound vehicles around, both in-game and in cinematics. Actually, it's arguably more impressive in cinematics like the Left 4 Dead prologue. That safe room door isn't durable enough to stop a tank. Even if it was, the door frame and wall plaster surely aren't enough to prevent a tank from tearing the door free and getting inside.
@@AlphaWolfShade The series does involve cut Special Infected. I just hope they use the Haggard in someway like they did with the others. @@thientuongnguyen2564 Not sure for every map, but for The Parish its implied that people who were bitten but had the immunity like the protagonists, and regular survivors were mass killed by the military, hence why "DONT TRUST CEDA" is written on the safehouse walls and why there's so many bodybags in Parish.
@@thientuongnguyen2564 Yep, in The Parish even if the immune people made it to a safehouse CEDA gunned them down and other groups of survivors didn't trust them and killed them as well.
@@thientuongnguyen2564if I remember right in the parish map, basically the survivors turn on the immune because they wouldn’t get infected, and then CEDA kills them all.
@thientuongnguyen2564 so it's very likely they do make it out of the saferooms after using them, but it's theorized that on some maps, the zombies that appear at the door the moment you spawn in could be the same ones that were using it before you, and simply failed to get far due to the groups of infected outside. With the writing on the wall there seems to be a group of survivors that nearly make it all the way to the end of the first campaign (I think, it's the first or L4D2's) before things run sour

I kinda wish they stuck with the traditional zombie setup of L4D because not only has no one done a true zombie analog horror series, but also the “they look human but off and they manipulate you mentally 👻” is getting old. Still a good series tho
unfortunately, traditional zombies just aren't that threatening. they aren't that hard to kill, and they can be outwitted easily. the green flu was only as scary as it was because it was airborne, and because it made deadly mutant zombies that didn't just run at you
Yea the stupid uncanny valley horror is starting to get stale. It’s like everyone saw a couple viral posts about it and they’ve echoed it for like 3 years now
@@chef4025 unfortunately it's just a thing that happens in every horror community. one person finally introduces something new and interesting in their thing, the rest then decide to snatch it for themselves and proceed to run it into the ground until it loses all scare factor.
in the games it seemed clear that the infection would burn itself out. the zombies are mostly too simpleminded to take care of themselves properly and would inevitably starve or succumb to the elements or additional diseases from eating bad food such as rotten bodies. so, to be a long term threat, its only logical someone would come up with new mutated infected that can think clearly
Long term threat is just boring though. Part of what makes zombies fun is that eventually you’d probably hit some tipping point and just be in a “rebuild society” phase. If you just add ever more dangerous zeds with more and more human intelligence it’s less zombies and more just a new race of less advanced humans
@@JeronimoStilton14 i disagree, i like the motion that humans might have to at some point deal with a new race just as intelligent as them, perhaps even greater as time marches on.
@@yeetneet5334 that’s the fun of aliens. I posit that what makes zombies fun is that they used to be your neighbor and they’ve been reduced to little more than an animal/killing machine. Although thinking about it, I did enjoy the what if episode that showed intelligent superhero zombies wrecking people, so maybe I don’t truly ascribe to that belief anyway.
49:36 actually, once you open the saferoom door (exit) tanks can easily destroy it. I also think the doors being indestructible is for gameplay purposes
23:58 could be a special infected called "THE WALL" or something. It was a concept for the tank but got scrapped, but as said, it's the height and width of the tank, but it's slow, but it's figured to be SO MUCH stronger than the tank.
it's "The Meat Wall", that thing was like more then 4 times taller then the avarage human, probably 100 times heavier then one, i think it could accidentaly break that door by just walking around
Thanks, gang, for correcting me. But I think he could be made into an enemy in the L4D2 analog horror since CLAWS is a part of it. Also, what else could break the saferoom door (except the tank on expert realism.)
"Claws" is actually the name of an old concept Valve had for a Special Infected in the early stages of one of the L4D games (Can't remember which), and the one in this series seems to be the same one as the one Valve concepted, being a large, naked humanoid infected that barely even resembled a human anymore and of course was armed with incredibly long, sharp claws. It's a pretty neat design, so I think this series is depicting that "Claws" is meant to be the final stage of one of these mutations.
@@ChristmasCarolyn Yeah true. I looked into it and it was originally an early idea for what became the Charger, but a Witch evolution could make sense the most
Or maybe that's the idea guys , the infection literally found a way to grab both those strands of DNA from those two respectfully and powder kicked it into over time to create " claws /starer" now that's some spooky intelligence on a cellular lvl (kinda like the thing ) 💯👀

i LOVE ceda (the channel). they put a lot of effort into all their videos and they're pretty friendly and open to critique in my experience with them. you can just tell how much they love Left 4 Dead by how well thought out their horror series is
From the games, only one of the special infected that could possibly be in a colony plus have claws is definitely the witch, though only in one map I think? Forgot the name but it was where there was a lot of rain and going through an abandoned/overrun factory complex it seemed. There, there was a fair lot of witches around, albeit spread out but a ton more than the other maps. Maybe around at least 4 if you try to just run though all over the place whilst not getting caught. Though that begs the question of why those don't really stalk but rather just stay still and hate it if the players even get a good glimpse of them. As similar as they seem to be, they also have a huge gap that serves as opposite extremes. Also, I wonder which or what became of the whispers if they continued to evolve by the time the games took place?
Fun fact: the Leaker and Claws are actually two scrapped special zombie types that you can find concept art of in the L4D2 files of the game, which makes the stalker and whisperer custom-made special zombie types. this means that we could potentially see other scrapped special zombie types in future episodes like the Hellhog or the Flesh wall and possibly the screamer as well!
15:20 Am I the only one who saw the human figure standing behind the pillar on the right. You can clearly make out the shoulder, arm, a bit of the torso, and down to about the waist while the rest is covered. Also I don't think its just a mannequin because this isn't the mall map, Its the hotel.

Alright, hear me out on this. At the time of the original games' release, and the wide outbreak across the east coast, we see how a lot of the televisions are flatscreen. One could assume that in this alternate universe, the technology in terms of digital equipment, got halted. The tech was kneecapped in america, and the onset of the DVD was still pretty fresh in the mid 2000's. Which is when Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 released. Wouldnt it make sense, then, for that gap to still be there? Besides, lots of technical stuff hasn't yet been explained. Such as the development state of the world. Personally, I welcome VHS as a format for the 2000's. And, perhaps the footage was caught on VHS-C camcorders in some regards. Which is smaller and easier to pack. @@Marcelame
The campaigns ending and leading to another makes so much more sense with the asymptomatic thing. Every person they get help from dies in the end, and they're the reason.
@@baconlando4569Well the reason why those ones couldn't be broken by tanks is because it would break the game. Canonically they are no different than any other safe room door that a Tank can break down.
I don't know why but i clearly remember there being like, a safe room that had its door bashed in, the heavy reinforced one, but honestly i cannot for the life of me remember if its just a modded map playing tricks on me, or a genuine memory of something we see in game. either way though, obviously a lot of sacrifices had to be made in terms of what happens in game and for gameplay reasons vs what happens in the canon of l4d, I think one of the greatest shows of it, is how we see like the infected in the comics just really genuinely try to kill the uninfected and carriers, like one punch caving in the head of a soldier, or a smoker crushing someone's throat and stuff, like the main threat always was the commons, so it would make sense that safe rooms would just be to proof against them. (barricade the door, and reinforce the hinges so a horde can't break it down. but tanks are a whole nother thing, they're rarer, so i doubt that many people actually see them, and safe rooms are silent and cant be seen into, so it would make sense that they would never attract their attention, but if they did it would easily be able to bust through it, if it knows survivors are behind it.
@@Angel-eu7ptthat map was in one of the later ones but it was in a bad spot, the walls were busted in and the door torn down. So they chose a bad spot and barely even barricaded or reinforced 😂

Tbh, I think the reason why they’re using vhs tapes is because of the apocalypse. VHS tapes might be the simplest option since all other tech was probably unavailable Who knows, but I am invested
Nah, CD's were cheap and plentiful in the 2000's and absolutely demolished tapes - easier to burn digital info to them too. 'Analogue horror' has it stuck in its head that it HAS to be VHS even when it doesn't make sense for the time period.
About time someone covers CEDA this dude has been consistently putting out gold, I’ve been occasionally putting links and messages on the l4d2 subreddit so people can see his channel and commitment to the act
i think the series is kinda cool but i think theres a lot of focus on the starer and whisperer, and it makes it feel like its just the creator making you hear about their oc with not a lot of focus on actual left 4 dead beyond the appearance of l4d locations, either way good video and subbed

I was wandering the 'net some weeks ago and I found the CEDA channel. I, thinking it was an official thing, subscribed and then watched the series. Useless to say I was confused, but ,holy cow, this video just came in at the right time.❤
This is interesting, Valve REALLY made a game where people loved it so much that they would go on to create a new analog horror series, which I for one thinks would make really good sense.
Whenever I look at Analogue Horror, I always wonder what timeline it takes place in... Otherwise why the fuck would people be using VHS tapes by the late 2010s? But for Left 4 Dead, it takes place pretty late in the 2000s. VHS is starting to be replaced but it still exists, so it makes sense for Analogue Horror inside of Left 4 Dead's timeline.
VHS was really starting to be replaced in the early 2000s. No major film releases were made on VHS past 2006. Most companies had already stopped manufacturing them before 2008/2009 when L4D takes place. But L4D has always felt like it takes place before the year it was made - just look at all the cars from the 80s and 90s and how there are very few new ones.
For the savannah tape, when it shows the liberty mall evacuation center, if you look to the right, you can see what looks like a person behind the column near the edge of the screen

It almost seems like the starer is an evolved smoker since at 35:29 the starer has what looks like smoke coming off of it, a telltale sign of the smoker. Also, they act similar to each other but the starer being more efficient at finishing off the survivors compared to the smoker

Great video! I love L4D & L4D2 because of the fact that it takes place in PA and specifically Philadelphia. I just love the fact that Philadelphia finally has some love because it's such a unique city to base a zombie game off, also because Philly have real life zombies (Kensington) I've been to Philadelphia a lot of times and love the city, so ever since I learn the L4D lore and how it started in the Greater Philadelphia area I was just hooked instantly. Even to this day I am still baffle of how Valve choose Philadelphia out of all locations to have a patient zero, but at the same time not so surprising as Philadelphia and L4D universe version of Philly is literally no different.
Just find it worth mentioning that in the flashing text reading "We can't let them know" has another 1 frame flash reading "There would be anarchy" at the top of the text a moment earlier.

To be honest, an 83% mortality rate is nothing, that's the rate at which you would lose in a fistfight with a zombie, so unless this number is based on the mortality rate of armed soldiers, this doesn't sound very threatening. Metal door strong but I don't think that's an issue for a walking pound of muscle that casually rips concrete out of the ground then hurls it unbelievably far.
Though that said, I'd imagine a tank breaking down the saferoom door would be much, much more violent and messy.
It could’ve been a mutated tank like the cancelled Haggard that hurled metal spikes stuck in its back like javelins
@@AlphaWolfShade I understand that but this series involves cut special infected. The Tank replaced the Haggard so it could go play Black Ops 6.
@@AlphaWolfShade The series does involve cut Special Infected. I just hope they use the Haggard in someway like they did with the others. the lore in the safehouses is still pretty interesting, explains a lot of why theres no survivors on any of the maps
So did they turn, killed by other infected or just made it? Given that it's almost 100% to get infected, even those immune (implied to be none so far) are definitely zombie chow.
With the writing on the wall there seems to be a group of survivors that nearly make it all the way to the end of the first campaign (I think, it's the first or L4D2's) before things run sour

in the games it seemed clear that the infection would burn itself out. the zombies are mostly too simpleminded to take care of themselves properly and would inevitably starve or succumb to the elements or additional diseases from eating bad food such as rotten bodies. so, to be a long term threat, its only logical someone would come up with new mutated infected that can think clearly

More info on the meatwall is that it most likley would of been a stage hazard more then an enemy , most likley chasing u until a scripted death for it
Thanks, gang, for correcting me. But I think he could be made into an enemy in the L4D2 analog horror since CLAWS is a part of it. Also, what else could break the saferoom door (except the tank on expert realism.)
One hell of a Infected.
E
"Claws" is actually the name of an old concept Valve had for a Special Infected in the early stages of one of the L4D games (Can't remember which), and the one in this series seems to be the same one as the one Valve concepted, being a large, naked humanoid infected that barely even resembled a human anymore and of course was armed with incredibly long, sharp claws. It's a pretty neat design, so I think this series is depicting that "Claws" is meant to be the final stage of one of these mutations.
Sounds like a Witch, tbh. Long claws and all that
@@ChristmasCarolyn Yeah true.
I like the concept of it being a violent, hyperintelligent apex predator mindseted boss infected. Look up “return to flooded suburbs” to see what I’m talking about

Sounds like a starer is probably a intelligent version of a witch

@@Marcelame

Well. Safe room doors can actually be broken down in game, it’s just only the old previous ones (like the one you start in at each level beginning)
That 1 is an end level door tho...

To be honest, an 83% mortality rate is nothing, that's the rate at which you would lose in a fistfight with a zombie, so unless this number is based on the mortality rate of armed soldiers, this doesn't sound very threatening.
It would be very scary to an unarmed/untrained civilian that the video was intended to help, but anyone with combat experience would have no issue.
