And the man can STILL sing like this. He's a freaking genius. He also did a version of this on the voice with the son of the dude that wrote it for him
Lonnie Donegan wrote it for himself, & recorded it in around '62. He suggested it to TJ to record in '67, five years later! He did NOT write it 'for' Tom Jones!
This came out when I was a senior in high school! Loved him then and still do! Love seeing him on The Voice UK where he’s a judge. He can still crank them out today just like back then! Like your reactions, keep them up!
It never fails. When he hits that first "Fall in love," people stare in shock. Then he goes up higher with "No I'm never gonna fall in love" and people's shock becomes disbelief. And then just as you think that's all he has in his vocal toolbox (which is pretty impressive at that point) he sings that last part and you're transported to a different level. The power of Tom Jones. :)
Thanks for showing a Tom Jones song. One of the best voices in the last 60 years. His songs and voice has brought many people together, as other great artists have. Because talent and the love of good music, in any generation, can touch something in everyone.
I'm a OOG and Tom Jones in my top 5 singers. I love seeing the babies get to enjoy and experience the great music we had back in the day. Even if it's not your type of music you have to appreciate the talent,no autotune , and the instrumental. Enjoy
Please do. He sang this song with the son of the man who wrote it. And this man's voice is still just as awesome. He's in his 70s-at least-and he still sounds the same. Check out all his The Voice clips. He sang It's a Man's World with Jennifer Hudson. He's still got it!!!!!!
I've met Tom Jones 2 times, once in 1985, in Toronto, Canada my Godmother took me, I was 13 and a second time in 1995 second time went to see him with a girlfriend in the USA and seen Tom Jones 6 times in the 2000s! Such a wonderful man and one of the best singers alive!!! Even got a kiss twice!!💞🤗
Tom is one of the best male vocalist of all time. He still tours occasionally, and I was fortunate enough to get to go to one a few years ago - and he has still got it. FYI, he was also very good friends with Elvis.
I've seen several reactions to this song; yours & one other were the most humorous while still respecting the talent of the man. If my mom were still here, she'd want to give you a big hug (and a plate of cookies).
Where was I in 1967. I was 6 years old. By the time I was six years old I had probably seen Tom Jones in concert twice. My mother was obsessed. I loved your reaction. He is truly a treasure. He just turned 80, he got a lovely surprise happy birthday from Stevie Wonder himself. He used to have his own special. Stevie Wonder was on his show and they did a medley. Janis Joplin has been there, Billy Preston, Aretha Franklin, omgoodness the list goes on and on. He is now a coach on The Voice & he’s still got it. During a break, on The Voice. The audience begged him to sing. He sang one of his hits “It’s Not Unusual”. Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am & Olly Murs, weren’t even born. It’s possible that their parents may not have been born at the height of his career. Yet, they know, they took out their phones and recorded the moment. Because they knew, what a gift this man is to all us all.
Lonnie Donagan wrote and put it out first. Tom made it famous. Tom is a judge on Voice UK. Tom turned for a young guy with last name Donagan. Tom asked him if he knew Lonmie Danagan. He said it was his Dad. Tom said do you know the song your Dad gave me? He said yes and they sang it together. He still sounds amazing.
Thanks for doing this reaction. The one and only Tom Jones! One of Britain's greatest voices. He drove the ladies crazy. They literally would throw panties on stage and hotel room keys. He and Elvis were great friends. He was married to the same woman from the time he was 17 till just recently when she passed away. He still can belt it out and is a judge on the voice Britain. Try his songs "treat her right" "she's a lady" and "delilah" fantastic! Take care
I had the great pleasure of seeing this man in concert every year in the 70's at the Chateau De Ville in Framingham, MA. He was the ultimate ladies man with the voice, the charm and the looks.
We were blessed to have tom and his buddy Engelbert in our living rooms. I was 5 when this came out. Use to sneak his Live at The Flamingo out of my sister's room... 🎉❤🎉
...Tom turned 80 last spring...and he can still bring it! Tom was married to his high school sweetheart until she passed away a few years ago [cancer].
Back in the day where if you were singing live.... you COULD SING!! No autotune or studio help!!!He got soooooo popular ,especially with the women, at times they had a designated "bra and panty person" to collect all that were thrown on stage at him!! My Mom was one of the them...lol.. ohhh those 60's.
You should really see his live performances on the Voice UK; two favorites of mine are 'Cry to me' and 'This is a man's world', this one he sings with Jennifer Hudson. For some reasons this man's voice just ages like great wine.
So glad to see someone react to that low note as much as his powered high notes. The man has always had incredible vocal control and range and his more popular material did not always make the best use of it. He has an incredible body of work, including his new releases. Not bad for a boy who spent about at least one year isolated & house-bound (and another year fully recovering) with TB in the early 1950s in a small town in Wales. His lungs recovered well.
Alrighty, it's your resident ol' crow here, I was 23 in 1967, so I should probably be on display in a museum somewhere as an example of ancient humanity! Dang, Billy, are you one of those young men who seem to think time itself will stop when you reach the age of, say, 30? 40? I know at your age it seemed indeed that I would possibly never age. But I am here to tell ya: YOU WILL GET OLD UNLESS YOU DIE YOUNG! And even back in the dark ages before 1990, there was music! You must realize that since you keep hearing what you are playing, and somebody over 21 wrote most of this great music. So just enjoy and don't obsess so much with age. Thanks a million for your reactions, & the great music you react to! Luv ya!
Check Tom Jones video out on The Voice, as a judge, and the other judges get him to sing a cappella right there in the chair!! 80 years old and kills it!! Great reaction today!!
Sir Tom Jones is known as "The Voice" here in the UK,you should check out some of the duets he has done ie: The Stereophonics,Janis Joplin his songs appeal to all generations.
What makes this performance even better is that there was no such thing as pitch correct or auto tune, back then you had to bring the goods and in fact if you compare this live TV performance to the original studio record, this is better in my humble opinion 😊
ive seen a few of these young black american rappers reacting to Tom Jones and they are all blown away. But i just can not picture ga gs of them rummaging around record stores looking for his old albums
Beatles had the teeny boppers early in their career. They'd faint, swoon and scream. Tom Jones made old women blush, middle aged women toss their panties and younger women.....well, we probably know what Tom Jones did with younger women.
Fell in love when he was 8. Married at 17. Devastated by her death at 75 yrs. They loved each other through it all. Even though he admitted about 250 dalliances
somehow this is therapeutic. its been a few decades but my time in forward deployed Marine infantry was sort of an escape from the constant racial cacophony and racial politics that exists in the public domain. To watch a black kid that would fit seamless into our squad thrill to the pure merit and skill of a white dude without reference to politics or background takes me back to when our admiration and trust with each other was about rifle scores, pft scores, land nav skills, stripes, etc. I know this sounds rediculous, but I write this in the hopes that you take this in the spirit of appreciation for which it was meant. Maybe your experience inthe military was different, but that's how I remember it.
Tom Jones did not get his heartbroken he just broke Hearts LOL love you brother please react to David Phelps.. songs like just as I am his remake at the age of 51 of. I have nothing. The dream. Nessun Dorma. Mio Bambino Caro. Never Walk Alone. O Holy Night. Water. And so many more. I'll be looking forward to her brother until then stay well
You should have Googled him . He re did Kiss by Prince n I think it went to number #1. I was born in 1966 n my Mom n Aunt adored him. His voice was n is still amazing n he is on the Voice. He's 80 now n still can make woman melt with his voice. He was known for having woman throw their panties and room keys on stage. He was n probably still a "Player". 5yrs ago he took a DNA ancestry test n Yes he does have African in his DNA. Thats why he's always danced n sung with so much SOUL. When he was coming up he was always asked if he had African in him cause he was dark n had curly hair. He is Welsh. But he faced alot of controversial back in the 1960 's n 1970's n 1980's he was always asked that ?.
Take a simple melody with simple lyrics, add Tom Jones, and you get a world class performance. Not many people can do that. You should check out B.J. Thomas's "You Gave Me Love." You'll like it.
You should check out the original, by the guy who wrote the song, Lonnie Donegan. It's a little gentler, more heartfelt, but still powerful. Donegan was a legend in UK music, for many many decades, & influenced everyone, including The Beatles, The Stones, Paige, etc
Welcome to 'The Greatest Singer in the World' club!!!!

In front of a live studio audience, no tricks, no autotune, just sheer talent. Elvis' favourite singer. Tom takes you to church. Hallelujah, amen.
@Max Lannon Maybe he changed his mind? or maybe he said to everyone?
Tom's got it all together in one of the greatest singing performances of all time. You can't knock greatness.
Thanks for showing a Tom Jones song. One of the best voices in the last 60 years. His songs and voice has brought many people together, as other great artists have. Because talent and the love of good music, in any generation, can touch something in everyone.
I wouldn't say 60 years, Mark.
I would say EVER There is no one to touch this man - and I was not his groupie. I was 8 years old in 1967.....
I'm a OOG and Tom Jones in my top 5 singers. I love seeing the babies get to enjoy and experience the great music we had back in the day. Even if it's not your type of music you have to appreciate the talent,no autotune , and the instrumental. Enjoy
80 years old now and still a great singer.
One of the greatest voices of all time, also, most women find him pretty handsome.
you aren´t just a whistling dixie either.
Sir Tom jones was the man. Loved his music my mom and dad played it all the time when I was a kid and still listen to him today.
You should watch Tom Jones performing on The Voice UK, he's still performing even now in his 80s
I second this
Oh absolutely! Plus his singing the Solomon Burke song Cry to Me. Hot Damn he just kills on that one too.
I agree!!! He's still awesome!
He's a legend he can sing better at 80 than most people out there now.
Please do. He sang this song with the son of the man who wrote it. And this man's voice is still just as awesome. He's in his 70s-at least-and he still sounds the same. Check out all his The Voice clips. He sang It's a Man's World with Jennifer Hudson. He's still got it!!!!!!
Straight talent, no auto tune needed.legend
I've met Tom Jones 2 times, once in 1985, in Toronto, Canada my Godmother took me, I was 13 and a second time in 1995 second time went to see him with a girlfriend in the USA and seen Tom Jones 6 times in the 2000s! Such a wonderful man and one of the best singers alive!!! Even got a kiss twice!!💞🤗
....the power....the COMMAND.....operatic........only man MY mom ever swooned over.....thanks for posting.
Tom is one of the best male vocalist of all time. He still tours occasionally, and I was fortunate enough to get to go to one a few years ago - and he has still got it. FYI, he was also very good friends with Elvis.
Great reaction !! Love your comments. Tom Jones... G.O.A.T. !! Still going strong, Today !!

Tom is fabulous. Terrific performer.
Great voice and the man can dance he’s 80 still going strong!!!
Crazy vocals..... awesome
I'm so glad you were affected so much watching this. His voice is so rich & moving, & he really has aged like fine wine, too.
Sir Tom! He was my idol ! Still is! What a charisma, he only could pull!
I've seen several reactions to this song; yours & one other were the most humorous while still respecting the talent of the man. If my mom were still here, she'd want to give you a big hug (and a plate of cookies).
His voice has NEVER aged.. you should watch him on the voice..💜💜💜
Where was I in 1967. I was 6 years old. By the time I was six years old I had probably seen Tom Jones in concert twice. My mother was obsessed. I loved your reaction. He is truly a treasure. It’s possible that their parents may not have been born at the height of his career. Yet, they know, they took out their phones and recorded the moment. Among the greatest live performances in music history. Up there with Unchained Melody!

One of the Welsh great singers, never lost his Welsh accent.
I had the great pleasure of seeing this man in concert every year in the 70's at the Chateau De Ville in Framingham, MA. He was the ultimate ladies man with the voice, the charm and the looks.
The son of the songwriter was on Voice UK (where Tom Jones is a coach). They did the song together.
Lonnie Donegan was so much more than just a songwriter!
Try Google, & educate yourself!
Friggin love Tom jones. I'm in my twenties but this man reminds me of a time I never knew. Cool reaction Billy!
Smooth like butter. The voice of TJ.
What a voice! What a song! Wow!
double OG ...born in 1967...lol....still watch him on the Voice UK today!!!!
When men dressed , looked , sounded and sang like they should, unlike what its happening now.....!
I stand by every word i said...!
Doesn't have to be his life, just able to demonstrate how serious heartbreak could be
Sir Tom Jones still has pipes. Look up Treat Her Right to see how he can dance.
My dad and I, listen to this when I was a tike,. It makes me miss him
We were blessed to have tom and his buddy Engelbert in our living rooms. I was 5 when this came out. Use to sneak his Live at The Flamingo out of my sister's room... 🎉❤🎉
Watch him live when he had his variety show back in the day...that man can MOVE!!🎶🎶😊
...Tom turned 80 last spring...and he can still bring it!
Tom was married to his high school sweetheart until she passed away a few years ago [cancer].
I love that you love the old classic artists! Most don’t appreciate them. Another good one by him is Hooked on a Feeling ☺️
Back in the day where if you were singing live.... you COULD SING!! Tom Jones is one bad ass dude🔥🕺
The great singing voice of the Welsh. Sir Tom Jones turned 83 in June 2023 and he can still sing this song.
It's a Welsh thing!
Alrighty, it's your resident ol' crow here, I was 23 in 1967, so I should probably be on display in a museum somewhere as an example of ancient humanity! I was 15 in 1967. Loved Tom!
Don't forget Tom's big country hit 'Say You'll Stay Until Tomorrow.' My favorite TJ song.
I love that one!
Check Tom Jones video out on The Voice, as a judge, and the other judges get him to sing a cappella right there in the chair!! 80 years old and kills it!! Great reaction today!!
Baddest assed singer in my 75 years on this earth. He could ROCK ‘EM!
On the Voice UK, he met the son of the composer and they did a duet. Awesome!
Sir Tom Jones is known as "The Voice" here in the UK,you should check out some of the duets he has done ie: The Stereophonics,Janis Joplin his songs appeal to all generations.
Never heard this...it's great! Love your reaction!
Tom is 80 years old and still touring and is a judge on uk voice. He sounds exactly the same. You should check that out.
I was in elementary school when this song was released. My parents watched his TV show. May have been my first crush.
The head nod was a cue to start the music.. One of best performances ever.. ♠W.G.
Back when there was real singing talent and this was live! No auto tune or other BS to camouflage a voice...
What makes this performance even better is that there was no such thing as pitch correct or auto tune, back then you had to bring the goods and in fact if you compare this live TV performance to the original studio record, this is better in my humble opinion 😊
If you've watched The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air you might know his song "It's Not Unusual" (Carlton's dance song). He has so many great songs.
Tom was one of Elvis's close friends. I seen a video of them singing together.
Yes it was fabulous.
Growing up all the Moms loved Tom Jones!!! Can’t blame them 🥰
Its "Jones the singer" from the valleys! Awesome!
80 years old and still preforming, Listen to Tom Jones Delilah - Live 1968
Tom Jones stars on "THE VOICE" you can see him who is in his 80s.
Great singer
ive seen a few of these young black american rappers reacting to Tom Jones and they are all blown away. But i just can not picture ga gs of them rummaging around record stores looking for his old albums
Tom is the most handsome, sexiest man I've ever seen or heard!!!!
I still have three Tom Jones 8-Track tapes in my music collection. I don't own an 8-Track player anymore, but I still have the tapes!
Beatles had the teeny boppers early in their career. They'd faint, swoon and scream. Tom Jones made old women blush, middle aged women toss their panties and younger women.....well, we probably know what Tom Jones did with younger women.
See his “it’s not unusual” on the Voice - Jennifer Hudson goes straight fan girl.
Fell in love when he was 8. Married at 17. Devastated by her death at 75 yrs. They loved each other through it all. Even though he admitted about 250 dalliances
Billy, you have to react to “Treat her right”. Live, unbelievable show he puts on🎶🎶🎶💕💕💕
You must watch Tom Jones singing this song at 80 on The Voice - Australia!

My parents saw him in concert and I was 3 stood at Grand mas house in 67
Great reaction Billy. He has a great catalog.
The best thing to come out of Wales
Shirley Bassey is pretty good too 😉
Love a good anti valentines day song. Love Tom. need to hear Delilah. oh yes
I agree
So, was Tom smokin' out the window. Yep, back in the day, Tom Jones was the man and still is at the age of 80.
Delilah is a great song too by Sir Tom Jones(yes he's been knighted by the Queen). But be sure to listen to the words. It goes by fast.
Tom Jones did not get his heartbroken he just broke Hearts LOL love you brother please react to David Phelps.. songs like just as I am his remake at the age of 51 of. I have nothing. The dream. Billy, if you are wondering what happened to the woman who broke his heart, listen to Tom Jones recording "Delinah". He stabbed her to death.
Love this song
She is the real.hero of this story!
Wahahahaha.
Oh man.
This is the best analysis so far. Funny.
Everyone watching just got pregnant....
.... and i was the first !!! 💕
No doubt, it's true.
1967 The year I graduated from Reagan High School. A wonderful time
Take a simple melody with simple lyrics, add Tom Jones, and you get a world class performance. Not many people can do that. You should check out B.J. Thomas's "You Gave Me Love." You'll like it.
when you find out 30 years later that Carlton actually had some pretty good taste in music
You should check out the original, by the guy who wrote the song, Lonnie Donegan.
It's a little gentler, more heartfelt, but still powerful.
Donegan was a legend in UK music, for many many decades, & influenced everyone, including The Beatles, The Stones, Paige, etc
I love Tom Jones. If you want to know how this story ends, listen to Tom Jones' ,"Delilah", followed by "Green Green Grass of Home". ;)
God only gives this talent to a very few people
Oh I love this from a fellow Buffaloian and go bills!
it's sir tom jones!!!
Lookup his song called "Sex Bomb".
