In 2015 I was able to go to The Doctor Who Experience, and they took us all on a tour of the TARDIS set afterward. I stood at the top of the stairs and though "I could be on this show!"
Then I immediately slipped and fell down the stairs. 😂
Our tour guide also worked as a PA on the show and she came up to me and said "Don't worry, Matt Smith did that all the time". ☺️

They *are* actual statues in some scenes, but in the scene in the episode where the Angels have to move like they're people, obviously actors in costume were needed
I think some of them are statues but probably not stone just for the background

It's okay. My guess is that they're, simply,, Rose-Ringed Parakeets. Completely harmless, but - until 20 years ago - considered exotic, until a bunch of them escaped from somewhere and bred. They're, now, so numerous that they fly over my Aunt's house to roost every night...

I can't explain why I laughed so hard when Matt started going on about "exotic Dalek birds", it just happened.
He had to be joking about Matt and football. He wanted to be a footballer at a young age and was on several teams. Even with his back injury he surely must know how to kick the ball around.

This is one of the things that distinguishes the New Who era from the Classic one: at 7:31, the Doctor mucking in on the soccer pitch-getting involved in his companions' day-to-day lives: playing soccer, busting out of the cake at a stag party, working as a shop clerk. Just try to imagine any of Doctors #1 through #6 (well, okay, *maybe* #7) doing this sort of thing. It makes him/her less of a mythic figure and more of a relatable, human character. I like it.
