I always remember someone asking Jeff why he didn’t have as much of an accent as his brother. He said it was because Ward’s bedroom was in the south end of the house, and his was in the north.
I love ya Ward, but I will always remember hearing it in Fort Worth one time as, "My numba tweny-two tatapilla tar wan weel dood today." (My number tweny-two Caterpillar car ran real good today.) I'm old, I'm skinny and I'm ugly and I laugh at myself often. You wanna make fun of me or TRY to insult me, go ahead. It's life, I don't take it so hard...
I will always remember Ward screaming: "Son of a bitch, we won it!" over the team radio when he took the checkered flag in the 2002 Daytona 500. I always thought he was an interesting and unique personality. NASCAR needs more Ward Burton's these days.
He never really got a good ride like his brother did. He left cup because he said he was sick of driving junk cars and the owners didn’t like that answer but it’s the truth
I miss Ward Burton. He wan't the greatest race car driver, but he was a good guy and a good personality. As far as the wreck, I can't remember a single time that Jimmie wrecked someone on purpose and I have only missed one race during his career and that was the 2006 All-Star race (that Jimmie won) because I was on a cruise. However, I do remember him causing a lot of crashes on the superspeedways during the first four years of his career. He finally figured it out in 2006 somehow.
@Brian Van Horne have you ever heard about Kimi Raikkonen, he didn't win a race SINCE 2013 and on 2018 he won the usa GP and I know its Formula 1 but its still a motorsport and everyone has a chance ;) BTW: sorry for my bad english, english is not my main language LOL
This is by far the best interview that I've ever seen with JJ. IMO, Chad had a LOT to do with all of those wins and 7 championships, but the man can drive.
Saying "someone tried to wreck me multiple times" would make anyone mad even when it's the truth. Natural to say the truth though, so it just has to be. Good job Jimmie.
OMG i wish they had a recording of that call lmao. "Deep Southern accent" . I had a high school teacher that talked exactly like Ward Burton. He would always come in talking about how many fish he caught over the weekend.
im so glad we had people like ward racing when i started watching nascar, i never wouldve been a fan after all these years if i didnt catch nascar when i did
It sounded like I heard the late great Benny Parsons voice in that clip, gosh, he was great on the track and as an announcer, he had an awesome deep voice, sort of like a Gorilla Monsoon of NASCAR. I can’t forget when you were racing at Talledega and you(Jimmie) were neck in neck with Dale Jr in his red Bud car for the win and I think, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it was Brian Vickers that tried getting around you, tipped your back end, you spun into Jr and Vickers went on to win the race. All your fans and Jr fans were throwing beer and pop cans at him in Victory Lane, haa, haaaa, I was cussing big time too. I look back and that was a memorable moment in watching your career. Also the great last lap rivaling between you and Edwards when he drove that green Scott’s car, I think it was, they were exciting even when you didn’t win. You always reminded me of David Pearson, he always used to lay back until the last laps and then turn it on, it was great. I am gonna miss that so much. No one did it better than you, Petty, Dale Sr and Pearson. I’m proud to put you in the Royal Family of NASCAR.
Ward Burton sounds like Ozzy Osbourne when you piss him off. After the interview you have a notebook and keep rewinding the tape to see if you can capture words to get the gist of his pissed offness.
Lol I was watching this during the race and on lap 83 you drove under Clint and I don't think he knew you where there and spun you out, I would love to hear that phone call!
I used to always have Ward on my scanner. I remember him saying one time “ It starts off real good but after 10 laps it just goes to shit” There was a NASCAR man never knew who he was but loved to listen to him I called him the General because he dictated everything that was done at the tracks as far as clean ups after wrecks and how many laps to green and other things. At Atlanta one time he told the Official over Buck Shot Jones car that they were going 2 laps down. 1 for speeding down pit road and 1 for just being an idiot
7X...Postpone, “ One final time “, for 2021! Even Blake Shelton is requesting that you do! This Covid-19 disaster has unfortunately prevented a LOT of your fans to come see you, One Final Time. Please reconsider!
I haven’t watched this yet, but I’m assuming that it was in 2003 based on the fact that Jimmie doesn’t have his rookie stripes in the thumbnail and that the 21 car is the paint scheme that Ricky Rudd drove in 2003. I was right, 2003 New Hampshire (not sure which one)
Well , leave the Lobsters alone ,, i agree , throw it back , but no ! ,, figures ,, just like are politicians making decisions for us ,,, sheesh ,,, i was happy you said throw him back then bang , saw it stuffed on the board dead ,, sad ,,,, i cant believe it brought water to my eyes when i saw the lobster dead on that board. sheesh ,,
I always remember someone asking Jeff why he didn’t have as much of an accent as his brother. He said it was because Ward’s bedroom was in the south end of the house, and his was in the north.
I feel bad for that lobster. At least you can still look at him everyday Jimmie. Man these segments keep getting better and better.
what lobster
ohhh i see
I thought your were talking about Ward before JJ got to that part 😂
haha
Lol well said 👌🏼😄😄
I miss Ward s interviews. He speaks well for not moving his lips. Man, my Caterpillar Pontiac was great today
"Dem dam lapcarrs"
The calapilladodgearunninmightyfineaday
but he can't say cat skid steer
I love ya Ward, but I will always remember hearing it in Fort Worth one time as, "My numba tweny-two tatapilla tar wan weel dood today." (My number tweny-two Caterpillar car ran real good today.) I was always looking forward to the day that Hermie Sadler was going to interview Ward Burton & Sterling Marlin.
"Dayuhm layp cahs. I tell yuh, when i'm dowhn, i ain't nevuh get in those guyhs whay. That ghuy was dowhn all dayhm day."
-Ward Burton, 1999.
LMFAO

I will always remember Ward screaming: "Son of a bitch, we won it!" over the team radio when he took the checkered flag in the 2002 Daytona 500. I always thought he was an interesting and unique personality. NASCAR needs more Ward Burton's these days.
That was clearly his crew chief Tommy Baldwin that yelled that. No accent in that voice and Ward just doesn't talk near that fast
We have Clint now.
I've mentioned how I miss him so many times over the years!
Todays drivers are mostly boring.
Ward is So Underrated
Would’ve had a lot more success if he didn’t get stuck in contracts with a con man like Bill Davis
He never really got a good ride like his brother did. He left cup because he said he was sick of driving junk cars and the owners didn’t like that answer but it’s the truth
It's funny how all these years later, rivalries become great memories between friends.
Ward Burton was my favorite driver as a kid because I loved his Caterpillar paint scheme
Thank you for all the amazing memories Jimmie we will miss you. 🐐
I can only imagine Ward Burton yelling his head off
I would have love to hear that!😂😂😂 I do miss Ward, I could listen to him talk all day with that great Virginia accent. Miss you at the track too JJ.
Deep southern accent, didn’t understand him. Did pick out every 5th word, which was a cuz word! Too funny.
I miss Ward Burton. He wan't the greatest race car driver, but he was a good guy and a good personality. I was at that race Jimmie, how cool to see you talk about that incident many years later. I knew Ward had to be pissed off.
I love this kind of videos so much. Thanks Jimmie!!
Jimmie we will miss you on the track next season. You are a great driver an great guy. You raced clean every race. Go get a win and a 8th title
Ward was always one of my favorites. Ill never forget seeing his first win and how happy he was.
Good luck today, Jimmie!!!! Get your first win of the season!!
It’s hard to think he will because he’s hasn’t won in forever but I still think he will has a chance
@Brian Van Horne have you ever heard about Kimi Raikkonen, he didn't win a race SINCE 2013 and on 2018 he won the usa GP and I know its Formula 1 but its still a motorsport and everyone has a chance ;)

I love me some Wad Button! Best character you wanted to hear talk in Nascar.
Poor jimmie he just wanted the lobster to live out the rest of its days back in the ocean 😂😂
i feel ya
Hey now it will get fossilized and be around 32 million years or so
Jimmie plz stay for one more year, I was planning on going to Watkins glen to see u race but corona stopped that
Lol
Stay confident Jimmie! You got plenty of racing to go before the cutoff! Just like years past, you got this Jimmie! #Race4G8ness!!
Really hope your year turns around! Would love to see you compete for the top spots again
im so glad we had people like ward racing when i started watching nascar, i never wouldve been a fan after all these years if i didnt catch nascar when i did

Cursing with a deep southern accent, I love it, old school. 👍👍
Hopefully you will win at least once before the end of 2020
All I can hear say in the interviews was: That God damn car wasn't working...
Sure wish they had a recording of that Ward Burton cussing fit.
You’ll be missed next season - thanks for your hard ass racing !!! ttt24
Thanks for the meet and greet char today🤗🤗😏🤗 Sri emotional for me
Go get yourself a nice lobster today 🏁
haha
Watching some of the prelude to the dream from 2010. Tony kanaan’s interview was great. Anyway didn’t watch the feature but I googled it 😎
Is that one of Jenson Button's helmets on the shelf behind JJ? Freakin awesome!
I wanna be a NASCAR driver one day, and if I win at New Hampshire, I’m gonna keep the lobster as a pet. If I can.
He was the second caution😭😭😭
3rd
NascarJoey oh ya.. 3rd😭 I don’t think this one was his fault
Rednecktv Nation me either
Doesn’t look like there was any damage we will see what he can do
let's not get anyone else mad today
😂
Old school Bell Moto 3 in the background.....loved those helmets.
I bet Ward watch the revenge scene from Days of Thunder over and over😂🤣😂🤣
And probably cus as nascar let Matt get revenge on Lagano
Lol I was watching this during the race and on lap 83 you drove under Clint and I don't think he knew you where there and spun you out, I would love to hear that phone call!
"I'm not sure what he was saying, but every fifth word..."
Was a cuss word probably a bunch of f bombs.
Every rookie have a dream but Jimmie complete more than his dream.
ya budy
R.I.P Mr.TrophyLobster
would give anything to hear that Ward Burton phone call.
"DAT DRIBER AIN'T WORBA DAM"
- Ward Burton
Venga Jimmie, vamos por los playoffs y el octavo #chasing8
I thought you were gonna say”Ward Burton sent the shells back to you of the lobster .”
Love your channel
Good luck at new Hampshire jimmie
Race wasn't bad today jimmie..let's make the playoffs and contend for the championship!!
Whoooo! This man had a temper! And he'd let you know it
Is that a Jenson Button helmet I spot back there in the case? Good stuff! Good luck this weekend man
Good luck today Jimmie!
I could never understand ward burton when he was calm and happy. No way I'd understand if he was passed off yelling.
2:14 How did you manage to find that MRN Radio interview on videotape Jimmie? I'm surprised.
Get em Jimmie
Jimmie don’t retire we need a 7 Time champ in nascar ... but if you do keep posting
Go win. Do it you wont
“I wish i had something I could’ve shot thru the windah”-ward burton 2003
I used to always have Ward on my scanner. Did you really patch it up with Ward? It's hard to understand a word he's saying. He might still be mad. LOL
Love these videos Jimmie
Another chance to rescue a monster lobster! DO IT FOR THE LOBSTERS
Is that a custom built scale model? Looks fantastic.
Also RIP humongous lobster trophy.
Goodyear makes those for the champion
i still remember Ward saying he wanted to shoot Jr. with a shotgun.
It was actually a missile he wanted to shoot him with
If you even made Ward Burton talk fast you knew he was pissed.
I’m also sure you remember the friendly and sometimes not so friendly rivalry you and Jeff had.
7X...Postpone, “ One final time “, for 2021! Even Blake Shelton is requesting that you do! This Covid-19 disaster has unfortunately prevented a LOT of your fans to come see you, One Final Time. Please reconsider!
Ward Burton was the funniest driver ever
You know you messed up when you get Ward Burton mad at you
Indy car + chad knaus = giggles
Do you remember those shopping carts designed like a race car for kids my local Lowe’s still has Jimmie Johnson styled shopping carts
Never mess with Ward.
I would have loved to see a rivalry between the 2
Ward Burton was the most unlucky driver i ever remember, so much talent but someone wrecked him every other race.
You gotta win a damn race man!
Jeb Burton to the 48 confirmed 🤔
I haven’t watched this yet, but I’m assuming that it was in 2003 based on the fact that Jimmie doesn’t have his rookie stripes in the thumbnail and that the 21 car is the paint scheme that Ricky Rudd drove in 2003.
I was right, 2003 New Hampshire (not sure which one)
Go get’em Jimmie!
good luck jimmie!
Jimmie seems like the dork that never got kissed
Mean he is a nice racer
Good ole Wawd… dude had a temper! But he was always hilarious when he spoke.
Well , leave the Lobsters alone ,, i agree , throw it back , but no ! ,, figures ,, just like are politicians making decisions for us ,,, sheesh ,,, i was happy you said throw him back then bang , saw it stuffed on the board dead ,, sad ,,,, i cant believe it brought water to my eyes when i saw the lobster dead on that board. sheesh ,,
Hi jimmie
Kind of hoping Jimmie would've had to track Ward down in the woods or his tobacco barn
Is than Jenson Button's helmet?
Luv u jimm
Jimmy on Ward: “I’m inside of him.” 🙊
JIMMMMMMMMMAY
You need a Cat Skid Steer Loadah
Funny. I always thought that Ward sounded like Huckleberry Hound.
Jimmie I love you I believe in you
That lobster would have been on my dinner table.
Ward’s a National treasure
Good luck today Champ.
