- Atlanta will always have emotional significance to me and I'm looking forward to going back #OneFinalTime this year.
As I start my final full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series, I wanted to share some of the stories you know as well as some of the ones you maybe haven’t heard. In the Rearview looks back at some of those moments from my nearly 20 years in NASCAR. #OneFinalTime

Gonna miss you Jimmie "JJ" Johnson.
You better believe I'm following him to whatever series he goes to.
Can't wait though to see him race IndyCar, Off Road which means he could attempt Dakar someday, and Sportscars again.
Jimmie jam
go to F1
Carl Edwards, in my opinion, was Jimmie Johnson’s biggest competition throughout the late 2000’s. Go get number 6 and do it for Rick’s son “Backwards Hat” Ricky Hendrick, Rick's older brother and team the best team president John Hendrick, John's twin daughters Kimberly and Jennifer, HMS general manager Jeff Turner and HMS engine building whiz, Randy Dorton. In loving memory all the way.
Even if he doesn't win title #8, I hope he wins at least one more race before he retires.
Have to say Smoke.
I would give Stewart and Gordon a much bigger edge.. In the 10s it was harvick and Kyle Busch.
Tony Wood He sure was.
ua-cam.com/video/q2TfarNKfA8/v-deo.html
@@TonyWud During Jimmie's championship run, Smoke was never in the conversation for the same year. I'd Carl, Matt, Denny, and Kevin have him beat. Jeff too for that matter
Hope you win a race before the end of the season I will miss you
Same
BnsfR6 let’s hope not
I believe you have my stapler SHUT UP
Wasn’t expecting a R6/SSG fan in here. Especially wasn’t expecting a top comment from one lol
I believe you have my stapler Why are you watching a JJ video and then commenting mean things about him??
From the title I really thought it was gonna be the final turn "it worked in the video games" move that Carl tried at Kansas.
I remember the Atlanta race you won after that plane crash, and how emotional it was. One of my favorite wins from you.
That memorable Oct 31st, 2004 was my very first Nascar race I have attended it was sure a special one for me and ever since them I've been to every Atlanta race there has been
People can argue about the semantics. But from a pure stats standpoint Jimmie is the best driver in the history of the sport. To win 7 championships in the modern era through all the changes is a hell of an achievement. Not even a JJ fan just a racing fan. The best to ever do it, period.
Nope Dale Earnhardt is nascar's greatest driver ever
@@rcracer8872 quiet you d rider jimmie is definitely one of the greatest along side with the Richard Petty and Earnhardt they are all elite

Still nice to see Jimmie Johnson have a UA-cam channel, and will be happy to watch his videos even after his days as a full time NASCAR driver are over post 2020 season.
Jackie Tang this isn’t the actual racers channel lol
@@WhenSquirrelsAttack1 yes it is lol
next year we will see Jimmies IndyCar videos ;)
Jimmy Johnson you deserve so much more credit than you ever get. You have been a ambassador for nascar and allowed it to continue after the tragedies that nascar experienced. I hope you will still be around the sport frk. Time Time. You have accomplished 7 championship and always remember there are only 2 other drivers in nascar that has ever accomplished this. Not to mention 5 straight. I have been and always be a dale jr fan but you sir are one of a wheel man. Your talents will be greatly missed my friend.
you do realize there's only been 2, 7-time champions, right? you make it sound like he did it all by himself. he's only the driver. that's only 25% of the equation. you must have forgotten the racing equation.
Friend, there's no need to ruin the moment (albeit you are both right)
@@nightlock_games i will happily ruin and call out a lie. your opinion is based on false information, as is his. i am in the industry and privy to the realities of the sport, not just what media has fed the fans.
Again, I agree with you that the driver is only "part of the equation" like you said. I don't think it's alright to tear someone to shreds over a simple opinion. But anyway, what you do is entirely you, so I hope you have a good day anyway.
@@nightlock_games i don't care what you think. no one asked for your opinion. myob
Awesome story about grief and healing and ten angels touches trying to bring joy to those left behind. Thank you Jimmie. You will help so many others with this.
My heart's so full watching these. You were my hero growing up, and reliving some of these memories now as an adult is really gratifying. I stopped watching the sport around 2015, but I instantly put NASCAR back on when I heard this was your last. I took it for granted and I regret that because you really meant so much to me growing up. You better believe I'm watching every lap from your in car view this season.
I hope you read this.
These are great stories! Thanks for posting and looking forward to Indy! :-) :-) 🤘🏻
I’m really enjoying these looks back with JJ! That’s awesome
Great story, loved hearing it again, even though all these years later and I still dip tears!
Carl couldn’t get rid of Jimmie😂😂😂😂
Agree😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That fall 2008 Atlanta race was when I loathed the piss out of Johnson, but as time went on, I'd gained such a huge amount of respect for him and his driving ability.
Grew up with you winning everything Jimmie, good times, have a happy retirement.
You and Carl Edwards are the most well-rounded athletes in the world.
LarSanity42 no they’re not
LarSanity42 In NASCAR*
Sherwin John They are in physical shape to do the triathlons together once Jimmie Johnson retires.
Joe Shabidu I agree. They would get killed in F1 b/c of lack of road course success.
LarSanity42 you know there are practice weekends which the first is 90 minutes the second is 60 and same with third
I totally remember that race at Atlanta after the plane crash, I also have a diecast RCCA Elite car of your win there. That was a really memorable race. You were always so great at Atlanta in your early days, and let’s not forget about Vegas, you “owned” that track and Atlanta for a long time. Michigan was always a tough one for you and Chad. I have these races recorded. You guys were awesome. Michigan and Chicago were your hardest fights. I don’t know what was with those two tracks, I always knew you were going to lose and break my racing heart one more time. Then, you finally cracked the secret code on those tracks and I remember. Maaan, time flies when we’re having fun, doesn’t it ? #48 Diehard fan from Canada. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I remember this race!! Loved the end, so great. Back b4 the double file restarts; they had lap cars to inside. They pitted with 15 to go, took 4 tires and came out 11th. There was another caution with 11, but restarted with 8 to go and he was 8th, first car with fresh tires in a single file restart. Drives up to 2nd! It was such a great call by Chad and Jimmie executed!
JJ has his own channel. HALLELUJAH!!!
Never went to a race and met you yet but it’s on my bucket list this year, you’ve been my favorite driver forever
They can say what they want. To me, there will NEVER be another Jimmie Johnson. You sir really are the greatest. The amount of ways you’ve won races without spinning anybody is awe inspiring. This guy was so dominant that NASCAR changed the points system every year so he didn’t win 7 in a row. All this after being written off as a lost cause after a crash that almost killed him that wasn’t even his fault. Thank you for the memories Jimmie. If you’re reading this, I want you to know how much you mean to fans like me. I don’t want them to hate you and then pretend they loved you after you die like Kobe.
Nope Dale Earnhardt is nascar's greatest driver ever
You got me into NASCAR 13 years ago when I was 10, thank you for adding to my childhood
You're the best Jimmie! Just keep being you!
Crazy how Atlanta was the sight of healing moments during a couple of the sports darkest times. Harvick winning his first cup race 3 weeks after Earnhardt's death. Johnson winning there the week after the HMS tragedy.
Jimmie you the man I want to see ya win some more wins this year you got 7 championships and I will miss you when ya leave but I watched you through the whole time but team 48 always
I’ve been a fan literally my entire life it’s sad that u r leaving nascar but had an amazing career
I never grew up a racing fan but every time I did watch I’d cheer for you. Sucks to see you go
I love this series. This one of the best retirement tour ideas ever
I love hearing stories about a driver scaring themselves on a qualifying lap
How can Jimmie be so great and so kind?
Those sure were the days for the 48 team! Now, I hate to say it, but this season isn't about getting more wins, but about reliving the old wins both on and off the track.... I'd like to see Jimmie in his prime come back this year, and win number 8, but we all know Nascar is doing everything possible to have a Busch, Harvick, Truex and Logano battle this season. Phoenix was the first glimpse of that.
No offence Jimmie but I miss Carl!
ziggy z well all miss Carl
Love you so much JIMMIE JOHNSON!!!💝💝💝💝💝💝🍃
I sometimes wonder hiw long its gonna be before we see another driver like jimmy.. awesome human being first, goat driver in our generation 2nd.
hey Jimmie im hearing about your retirement (i might be wrong) but if you are you've been a big influence on my like you are what got me into NASCAR i even watch your Daytona 500 2020 in car cam it was epic
but i also want to say i even have your die cast cars lol
~your biggest fan since i saw you at Pocono :)
RIP Ricky Hendrick
It sucks that I'm not going to be able see him race one last time
You are a role model to many including me to work hard to achieve my dream to make it to nascar
We were privileged to watch you race. Not many others have done or possibly come close.
When I was little you were my favorite driver. You still are. I named my fish after you, "JJ" was the name I gave him. Thanks for letting me witness your legacy as a racer.
Really going to miss you, watching the sport will not be the same for me.
JJ THE GOAT! Man I remember back when the 48 was winning all those races and how aggravating it was. Never hated it because he’s always been a guy that you just can’t hate. But it was aggravating. Fast forward a decade, and I am a 48 Fan to the core. Showed me what a true sportsman and class act he is winning or losing. Hate to see him retire this year but hope he stays involved in nascar one way or another!
No the greatest all time is Dale Earnhardt Jimmie is very good though
RC RACER 88 they are both the GOAT, they can share it. And someone before our time will say the king #43 was the GOAT. I’ve been watching nascar since the mid 90’s, I’ve seen comets and goers, Jimmie is among the very best.

We're going to miss you Jimmie! 😢
God, my mom is a fan of you. Hope you win this season Jimmie!
NASCAR not the same without Carl (my fav driver as well as JJ & GJ)
Miss the old days when a race and championship was about endurance, talented drivers, strategy, with old school cars.
The new system of the chase that goes down to one race at the end has spoilt things, preferred the old chase.
We will miss you Jimmie
True gentleman and athlete.
Hey Jimmie! I'm gonna race as you first in NASCAR Heat 4! I just got that game yesterday!
5:27 i saw that car at HMS. Crazy man. Just crazy
Can’t wait to see you in a indycar but sad to see you go from NASCAR!

Good video Jimmie. Stay safe. Also do you play video games?
I was at that race! It was awesome! I really thought you were going to catch him! But it was still amazing! Actually, I was at that race that you won after the airplane crash! That was my very first race!
i love carls reaction
Was in RAGBRAI years ago, and who comes up and says hello to me riding his bike but Jimmie on a road bike. His buddy Lance talked him into riding it.
Carl was my favorite back in the day

Try to go get it at Atlanta Jimmie, it's one of your best tracks and I know you can do great! 😉
That's 2 times Atlana has been a healing track

2004-Jimmie Johnson

Lets hope jimmie can get the win Atlanta and end his streak
Jimmie Johnson just told us why Atlanta shouldn’t be repaved
Jimmy you will have ten angles around your car and will do your best during the all Star race
Hi Jimmie let's go get a win at win at Atlanta!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 1st race jimmy mentioned, i remember watching. jimmy johnson kept blocking and tried every trick he knew to keep carl edwards behind him. but carl was having none of it and passed him like he was tied to a tree. jimmy's story is quite different from what really happened. jimmy never thought carl would pass him on the outside.

I remember seeing that Carl Edwards interview live. His reaction spoke to your talent more than anything anyone else could have said. He had just driven a terrific race and we all new, going in, how important a win for him was that day. But then you finished second. I'll always believe NASCAR changed the rules so you would stop winning championships. Hope to see you in bigger and better venues but you've got nothing left to prove to me. Thanks for the great racing.

If this Corona stuff lasts a while and a big portion (or even all) of the season is lost, would you consider coming back next year to get a proper last ride?

Good luck with Indy.
