Greetings my friends from beyond and within the grave. In the short time in which we inhabit this world, It would be my honor to offer you a new life with Christ. Let today be the day you begin✝️
The ending of the video is so wholesome, i love that the community is not competing just to see who is better and who pulls the best time, but end up joining forces to achieve the unthinkable, and have a collaborative effort to get the absolute best and most optimized times on tracks.
It's really cool that we are able to do that now, it's really allowed us to create some crazy TASes. The TAS on airship fortress that I showed a clip of when talking about that in the video had 4 different people work on it, and it's just really cool to be able to work with other people on something like that
That's one of the things I love about TASes so much, even more than RTA running it's super collaborative. A bunch of people putting in work on a single run to utterly break a game beyond belief.
This video made me emotional I’m not going to lie. Joining the community in 2015 immediately after the revival of the TT scene and seeing it evolve into what it is today has been one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Thank you for all your efforts in the RTA and TASing communities the past several years, we wouldn’t be here without you.
Thank you so much! Obviously I wasn't around in 2015, but even seeing how much it has changed since I started playing competitive in late 2017 has been crazy. The game has evolved so much in the last 4 or 5 years, and I'm really happy that I was able to be a part of that
I only've been in this community for a few months and when I first found out it existed I thought it would be almost dead, because "who still plays Mario Kart 7 10 years after it released ?". But during these last months I've been amazed by how active this community actually was and by everything that has been happening since I'm there : rKD being so close to sub 1:34, Endo becoming PPChamp, Jack getting his first WR... and now this amazing "Summoning Salt level" video. All of this make really makes me wanna push hard on this game and motivates me to interact more with this community (because I've been quite silent for now that's why you probably don't recognize my name). Thank you for this video MKWilliam you did an amazing job. I don't know if a freaking paragraph was necessary to express that, but now I'm more motivated than ever to play MK7.
Thank you so much! I think probably the random statistic that I'm most amazed by is that there has been a WR in every month of this games history since november 2014. It is kind of insane how many people are still around more than 11 years after the games release
Fantastic video with such smooth editing. I love the different camera angles you use to illustrate your points throughout. You should definitely make more narrated content like this in the future. Very well done.
Thank you so much! It was really fun to work on this video, so I'm definitely interested in making more content like this in the future. The positive feedback I've been getting from everyone really does mean a lot :)
I was so surprised that the game I played the most had endless possibilities. I thought that only Japanese people played this game, but I was very excited to know that people all over the world are enjoying it. There is a high possibility that the English I wrote is wrong because of my lack of study.
You're english is fine, don't worry :). The japanese community tends to be pretty separated from the rest of the world, but there is definitely a very large audience outside of japan that still loves the game
Amazing editing and storytelling, I'd really like to hear you talk about the mechanics within the game or talk about the kart parts and their (secret) stats and showing some of your favorite in-game builds.
Thank you so much! I would definitely be interested in making more videos like this in the future, but I do enjoy the storytelling part of it so if I was talking about mechanics or kart parts I would want to include it as part of a bigger story. There are definitely things I can think of that would incorporate those aspects though
beautiful video. i hope more TAS creators make videos like these for their games because TASing is such an underrated art form. i know i'm inspired to do something similar eventually
I was afraid you'd show a screenshot of me saying something along the lines of "I'm cutting off my balls if spaghetti ever saves time", great job there
honestly incredible video, massive respect for putting so much effort into a video about a frankly under-appreciated mk game. big fan of mk7 tases, id love to see more videos of this nature
Thank you so much! I do already have a few ideas on some mk7 videos somewhat similar to this that I think will have interesting stories :). This game definitely seems like it has slowly begun to become more appreciated recently, which is really cool to see
Ive played every single mario kart game and i can say that mk7 (with mods) is the most fun with mkwii being a close second. What i really like doing is being in the air (glider) on mushroom gorge, closing the glider and using a mushroom right before landing on a bouncy mushroom, tricking and then getting launched into space. Also, amazing video. Your commentary is very fun to listen to, the TASes are very impressive and the whole thing is very well edited. Great job!
This is brilliant. Excellent editing and narration, coupled with an enthralling story. I hope the community goes on to hear much more about the history of it's favorite tracks 👍
Its impressive seeing TAS runs, especially on MK games with crazy precision and game knowledge coming together to make fast AND entertaining runs like this. Also the record holder making a video on this topic is amazing. Good stuff
Thank you! There is a lot more game knowledge and work that go into making TASes than most people realize, that was part of why I wanted to make this video
It definitely helped with being able to highlight what the important events were, since I was around to see the reactions that everybody had for every single record in this video when they actually happened
Really cool to highlight the similarities between rta and tas. I get the vibe a lot of people think tas is a perfect run so seeing tasers race and cooperate on improving these runs is awesome!
This video is very interesting. The way the records were improved really amazed me. The fact that a track this simple is this broken is amazing to look at. Good work!
UA-cam next week: Welcome to the history of specifically a cheese danish that I ate 2 years ago at a 7/11 in the 7th district of south Boston on a taco Tuesday!
Sounds like an interesting video. You see, the danish pastry was invented 350 years ago by Claudius Gelee, and had he not accidentally forgotten to add butter to the flour, he never would have stumbled across it.
You know, i sometimes spend my time writing down the music of a video, because the creator didn't provide a music list (most of them don't) so I'm thankful that you did.
This is very well done, I hope to see more videos like this in the future! Like some people said in the comments, I hope that the TT / TASing community grows and more people contribute to exploit the game even further. I also hope that more coders become interested in TASing as well, the potential for tools to help TASers and analyzing runs is really high for MK7, in my opinion
Thank you so much! Yeah, it would be cool if the community kept growing, and yeah there's definitely a lot more potential for mk7 tools. Thank you for the contributions you did make to them though
Just saw this video and thanks for featuring me! I didn't even know me goofing around finding glitches somehow contributed something to the Mario Kart TAS history
Thanks for watching it! Yeah, I honestly don't even know if cf was inspired by your video or just happened to be looking through the checkpoint maps, but it is technically the oldest video of spaghetti being done, since other than cutting off less of the turn before the glider, it does everything else, just slower. It's honestly really cool how many of the things that have been done in both TASes and RTA runs in the last couple of years have been inspired by things players did years earlier
I have a similar speaking pattern to you and I’ve always been very self conscious about my Rs. I just wanted you to know the narration of this video really inspired me. Awesome video!!!
Thank you, i'm glad it inspired you :). It can be really difficult to deal with things that you're self conscious about, but try not to let it hold you back from doing things if you want to do them. Just because something is different doesn't mean that it's a bad thing
Thank you! Honestly, this is one of the craziest ones, I don't think any track has ever continuously got broken further and further apart quite like this one
I never liked the glider physics. They always felt like how running feels like in a dream. Especially in MK8 where you can’t even control the gliders (or how long you’re in the air) for and the game just pushes you where it wants you to be!
MK7 is definitely a lot less restrictive than MK8. I do find gliders a lot less intuitive than standard driving, but they do allow for some pretty crazy strategies in this game so I can't complain too much lol
Lol, Summoning Salt needs to get a move on, you’re stealing from his zone! Great vid, it’s so funny to see gyro starting to be used in runs, and I can’t wait to see where is it capitalized on other tracks.
Absolutely floored by how good this video was, it's not often you see a TAS history but future ones should follow your example, incredible job and I can't wait to see what strats are found in the future and what you make next :)
I just spent 30 minutes watching a video about the intricate relationship between Italian cuisine and small internal combustion engine vehicles. Amazing.
This video was very thrilling, although I don‘t watch TAS Runs Documentarys at all. MK7 is my childhood and this video was insanely well made. Much love ❤
The customization choice showed in this video reminds me of MK7 online where literally everyone has the same Metal Mario character, B Dasher, and Red Monster Tires.
I found your video in your recommendation and I really love it. The documentation and the music make your video very cool. It feels like we are following your history. I didn't know a simple track can turned into an amazing video. I didn't know Mario Kart 7 have hidden shortcut like this.
@@MKWilliam You're welcome! Yeah, I feel like Mario Kart 7 is an hidden gem when it comes to TAS. Many people played it and appreciated it, but doesn't know the behind the scene of it and how a 3DS game can make such awesome TAS.
I messed around with the frame-by-frame and savestate stuff in ZSNES back in the day before TAS was even a thing. Or, if it was, nobody had thought to document it. It was fun to figure out what was possible with the ability to essentially choose your inputs for each frame. Glad to see people are still enjoying messing around with emulators.
Hell yea I love these vids, man you're one of my favorite tas creators because there just isn't mutch on mk7, one of the most underrated mariokart games.
Thanks! I haven't been posting mainly because I wanted to make this, and given that I'd never done anything like this before it took a long time to make. I hope it was worth the wait though!
The fact that they called that strategy "pasta" makes it funny to use on any sentence. Just imagine a MK7 pro player saying: “The best shortcut I ever did? Probably pasta. I make pasta a lot of times. Pasta is a good idea”
Thank you :). This TAS is definitely a special one for me, even though I'd probably say the airship fortress glitch TAS is more optimized it did something that I honestly didn't think was possible, even though I had dreamed of it being possible ever since spaghetti was discovered I honestly wasn't sure that we would ever get a sub 1 minute time on the track and it's just really cool that we were able to do that
@@MKWilliam rMC3 will forever be glitchless in my heart until some kind of major shortcut is found. I honestly have mixed feelings about Superhopping, but maybe it’s just cause I’m a veteran of the game and like things the way they used to be lmao
@@Portentous__ yeah it's one of those things where it's a very cool strategy visually, but it's hard to deal with so many tracks having their strategies changed so quickly
Very very well-made video. It's funny because the UA-cam algorithm already suggested me some videos of your runs and seeing them, I was really intrigued on how all of theses strategies were made as I am unfamiliar with Mario Kart 7 And now seeing this video has really explained to me all of the differents aspects of this track/game. Thank you so much for your content.
I subscribed in hopes of you covering the history of other TASes from a variety of games (hopefully mosty nintendo :p). Really gives you appreciation for how its not a button you just click and it makes the fastest path possible, that these aren't being "computed" so much as they are imagined and theorized then proven. Its funny I chose math to compare it to because we are taught the computation aspect of math but I think that really downplays the artistic side of math. Tasses is in fact one possible expression of that artistic aspect. You could conceive of a way of breaking this down into a math equation and each section a more novel way to solve it and the creativity involved.
I definitely view TASes as art. I will probably be focusing on mk7 for now since it's the game i'm most familiar with and there are a lot of stories that have never been told, but there are definitely stories from other game's which could be interesting to tell. Chances are any video I make will be within the mario kart franchise though
Thank you so much :). It took some time to get all the camera angles for everything, but I really like how it came together, and I'm really happy that other people enjoyed them too
Thats insane. I wish i was more in to Mario Kart in the beginning (i wad bit obly with friends and for fun and never tried shortcuts or something like this). This is a insane evolution of the speedrun!
“Despite the discovery of Spaghetti,”
I laughed harder at this than the shortcut actually being called Spaghetti.
it was a pretty important discovery, meatballs have never been the same since

I messed around with the frame-by-frame and savestate stuff in ZSNES back in the day before TAS was even a thing. Or, if it was, nobody had thought to document it. It was fun to figure out what was possible with the ability to essentially choose your inputs for each frame. Glad to see people are still enjoying messing around with emulators.
That's really cool. I assume TAS was probably still a thing, just not really known about. Bit yeah, messing around in emulators can be really fun
Hell yea I love these vids, man you're one of my favorite tas creators because there just isn't mutch on mk7, one of the most underrated mariokart games.
Thank you :)
MKWilliam, Hgt, and B_squo are almost GOD!!!
I believe you’re best MK7 TAS runners.
Thank you so much
I’m so glad to see you posting again! Can’t wait to see your future videos!
Thanks! I haven't been posting mainly because I wanted to make this, and given that I'd never done anything like this before it took a long time to make. I hope it was worth the wait though!
It definitely was!
The fact that they called that strategy "pasta" makes it funny to use on any sentence. Just imagine a MK7 pro player saying: “The best shortcut I ever did? Probably pasta. I make pasta a lot of times. Pasta is a good idea”
Pasta has been said nearly 5000 times in the speedrun server lol
@@MKWilliam It must be a server full of pasta
@@Moonkat358 LOL
I never thought I’d hear about motion controls in a TAS video
XD
There is no way this guy made a perfect TAS, made an amazing video, but he also replied to every single comment, just wow that bonkers
Thank you :). This TAS is definitely a special one for me, even though I'd probably say the airship fortress glitch TAS is more optimized it did something that I honestly didn't think was possible, even though I had dreamed of it being possible ever since spaghetti was discovered I honestly wasn't sure that we would ever get a sub 1 minute time on the track and it's just really cool that we were able to do that
Just realized how many typos I made
As an MKWii player, seeing a SNES Mario Circuit get demolished feels so satisfying. Absolutely incredible video!
To be fair at least you have superhopping on mario circuit 3 now XD. Thank you though!
@@MKWilliam that and the fact that there’s probably not going to be any inside drift or kart TASes released anytime soon lol
i love that the final tas is a combo one, where the two of you traded parts of the run to get the whole thing faster
Yeah, it's extremely cool that we are able to do that now
Very very well-made video.
It's funny because the UA-cam algorithm already suggested me some videos of your runs and seeing them, I was really intrigued on how all of theses strategies were made as I am unfamiliar with Mario Kart 7
And now seeing this video has really explained to me all of the differents aspects of this track/game.
Thank you so much for your content.
Thank you so much for watching!
kudos for not using the same music that summoning salt uses and not trying to copy his style 100% like other people
Thank you :)
It's cool that you worked it together back and forth.
It's honestly one of the best parts of TASing
This vid deserves a like. Well done bro
Thank you :)
Chances are any video I make will be within the mario kart franchise though
this video kinda makes me wanna pick this game up again… stellar job.
Thank you so much!
love the camera work when wario is first doing the pasta from freecam, thats so cool
Thank you!
I love your editing style, it reminds me of Summuning Salt! Thanks for this video, I enjoyed it a lot!!
Thank you! I definitely did take some inspiration from him in parts of this video
