I grew up (ages 5-10) sailing all over on a Corsair F-27. My parents, and our family of 5, sailed Puget sound and desolation sound. We were able to live aboard this boat as two adults and 3 kids for many weeks at a time comfortably and seeing interior shots of this is amazing nostalgia!
As Captain Q would say, "If it floats, it is a 10!" To be honest, for the price, the legal trailabilty, the fact you can have it parked at home to work on, brings it to a 17 on the Q scale for me. I may go higher or lower after seeing the rest of the video. I am only 5m2s in so far. It is a steal at this point though!
I had a Corsair F-24 and now a Farrier F-22. They are great sailing, fun boats. I've taken each one of them to the Bahamas twice, once single handed and once double handed, for about 3 weeks. As you mentioned payload is the limiting factor. We weighed everything, I mean everything on the boat and were over the total load by about 100lbs. It really makes a difference in performance and in safety in rough weather. I've recently looked at F-27s and surprisingly the payload is only about 100-200 lbs more than the F-22 which has higher volume floats. Anyway, good luck. You will enjoy it. FYI 'payload' includes sails, motor, gas AND crew plus everything else like tools, water, food, etc.
Cool to see you guys are back out on the water. . . We just launched our first UA-cam video. Now, I have even more respect for everyone that puts them self's out there in front of the whole world! hopefully we will cross paths someday. Currently in DR
Cool! We bought one of these last year after being done with Ocean cruising and selling our Valiant. The F27 is a hoot! It's also fun to have it sit in the side yard to work on. Have fun!
You could probably build some sort of storage locker in the bottom of the aft cabin that has access doors on the top of it. That would raise the sleeping surface about a foot, but it would allow you to put a wider mattress there so all three of you cold sleep comfortably in that space. It would reduce the amount of head space you have, but would give you more storage and make sleeping together in that space a possibility. Then you wouldn't need to sleep separately in the salon. I really like the design of this boat.
I'm glad to see someone doing a more attainable boat. For someone like myself who is about as far from saltwater as one can be in North America, this seems like something I could actually get.
I’ve owned an F-27 in the UK for around 20 years now. They are fast and seaworthy boats. My best advice is to pressure wash the interior carpet. It’s the only way I’ve found to get all the filth out - she’ll look spotless after.
I would build a false floor in the aft cabin to increase the width of the sleeping area with access to below it for dry goods storage. I agree with an electric motor. I would try to make one of the areas in mid-cockpit into a sealed propane locker. I would also find a way to add a fridge/freezer area somewhere. So much potential in the below decks! A lot of work and rethinking design and layout but this could be easily made into a long term live-a-board until you get fed up with being hunched over. My Q rating is at 20 now. You two have a wonderful boat! I can't wait to see what you do with it! I hope you both continue to do reviews on other boats, as that is your bread and butter for subscribers. Those who have followed your journey will watch your dreams come into fruition. There will be some that subscribe for that. I think there are many subscribers that want to see the options that they might have to find their own "dream" though. Just an honest opinion as to why I have subscribed as I would bet many others have. A sincere congratulations to the both of you on this great find! This post was entered at the 18m30s point in the video. I am so glad to hear that you will both continue reviewing others. Hence the edit.
Can't overemphasize the value of not requiring a slip, in terms of saving money, working on any part anytime, and boat deterioration. Plus you aren't limited to one starting point. As you probably know they make a 31 (and even a 37) which is trailerable and has real standing head room for adults. I look very forward to following the upgrade and restoration progress. Great job guys!
Great meeting you and Bobby at the border today, Jordan. I enjoyed seeing your boat and to learn a bit about the Corsair. I am anxious to watch the progress that you make with the Corsair and to see the final result. -Frank
Incredible steal you guys! Your boat does not actually look THAT bad and Corsairs in general are very popular and maintain their value very well. You went through the whole tour, and I am thinking: "Wonder if they got any sails since that would add thousands to the refit." Then you showed a whole bunch of very costly mylar sails! If they are in decent condition, you have really hit the jackpot! One downside - once you go out sailing on this F27, you will be spoiled for just about everything else. I have an '83, 20' Super Tramp, one of Farrier's earliest folding designs and it is much heavier and underpowered compared to the F27. I love sailing it around the "lead bottomed boats" when winds are light, and when it gets up a bit (about 15 knots in my boat) the fun really begins! Can't wait to see the project videos and your first sail on her! You should probably take someone who is familiar with sailing Corsairs with you that first time! After reading all the comments - if the point is to keep the boat, by all means go electric. For better re-sale, stick with a cheap used outboard. You will maximize your return that way.
I think another UA-cam couple got a free loan of a corsair 27 for 3 or 6 months except of course brand new. The thing is that they are still making them so you can see and easily hopefully incorporate some of the more modern aspects which through trial and error they have made to make it a more comfortable and better boat.
@@bake162 Yes I used to like them but then they ordered a cat which will take a year to arrive and as far as I know have yet to sell their cat. Then threw a lot of money at their camper van top of the range everything and have been more or less a van life channel since.
Had a Corsair 20 yrs ago “ pre kids” the wife and I loved her fast fun great for a 2 week holiday and if you fold the amas you only pay for a single slip in the marina
Congrats! This is a super fast, super fun boat for weekends or a week vacation anywhere in the US. She has a ton of deferred maintenance so all hardware and glass needs inspection, all rigging over 10 years needs to go, and any unnecessary hardware should come off. I spent some quality time racing these with John Walton back in the day and the F-27 was his baby. The interior is tight but very useable especially by adding a deck tent when at anchor. Not enough space for a large solar array so I would reverse the decision to go electric and stick with a 6-8hp XL long shaft OB for reliable aux propulsion to get you out of trouble or home for sure if the wind dies or you have rig issues. Cheers!
Look forward to seeing the refit, the tours, your next new boat and some sailing. The trailer is going to save a lot of dock fees....really good move for this size boat. Thanks for the great content....
We consider this model boat a few years ago mainly for the trailer ability. Our neighbor has one and they are fast as long as you haven't loaded her down with all kinds of stores and junk. Good luck on this project
A friend of mine had a Corsair 27... Really smooth and quick in the water... but it is just a weekend sailor.. We sailed it from LA to Catalina island 28 miles or so.. with 5 people.. Things were close but as long as you dont expect too much privacy it is ok.. Anything about 3' or less waves it was a pleasure... Not so much above that... Good luck guys.
This looks like a great boat for the shallow water around FL especially on the gulf coast. I just started learning about these tri's and they look like a really cool boat.
I like this boat. My friend has one and we have a lot of fun on the river with it. Amazing performance. You will find it easy to find all documentation you need for this boat. It doesn’t look that bad. Good purchase. Yes not a live aboard, but good camping for a weekend.

You could have a couple of nice berths right behind the sitting areas to port and starboard with keeping storage areas below them. I agree about the head and moving it from where it is currently to forward and aft facing.
An F27 for that price, wow guys you really scored there. A good stream clean of the carpet and get all the rust spots gone and you'll double your money tomorrow. Great deal guys .. cannot wait to see you out on the water blasting around the keys.
I Have a Friend with an F27 on the West Coast and I have sailed it in competition mainly but a few fishing/cruising trips also. It is a great boat that you will learn on and be happy with! With a good water maker and some Ramen noodles you could cross the Atlantic with fishing on the way, it has been done already!
Major plus for we the viewers! 🙂 Major work for you two, the doers. Keep your heads up & your attitudes positive! Something teachers know how to do. (This retired teacher is pulling for and cheering for you!)

But you do have very good storage in the two amasi. It will be a fun sailboat. However, under no circumstances should you sleep in the aft cabin. It is a death trap. So, postulate you are anchored in a harbor, behind an island or just off the coast, sleeping in the aft cabin, when some entrepreneurs sneak up to your boat, board it and either close the cabin off with a piece of wood they brought ( because burglars do prepare sometimes), or shoot some pepper spray through the hatch (again preparation) and uncomfortably disable you or even simpler, one guy straddles the hatch with a club and whacks you every time you try to stick your head out. In the best case scenario, the other robbers steal everything and leave. On the other hand, maybe they just steal the boat with you in it. Yes yes yes... Please do post the DIY videos... We love them.. At least one guy from India, who even doesn't know how to swim.. Well, I started watching the sail boats with SV Delos around 4 years ago.. Found you guys on the way... So, All the best and waiting for your videos...
Watching Billy and Sierra sail their borrowed trimaran, they had a blast with it. It took some getting use to compared to what they were comfortable with. You can fix this one up with your skills and easily triple your investment, plus have a great time sailing it. I think this was an excellent price and opportunity. The perfect boat to fit in your yard while you work on it. I'm happy for you guys.😊 🤝🤝👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Congratulations on your new boat. This will be a project worth seeing. I believe you two can really restore this Corsair. The design is not what I expected you to get, so keep the surprises coming. Loved seeing little Morgan as a part of this video. Good Luck!
Whoooo Weeee what a find !! Good luck with the DYI .... looking forward to the new videos. I have learned a lot with your boat tours and previous DYI on "Freebee"..
This boat is the only sail boat that truly scared the shit out of me. and i am a power boat guy I was at 19 kts with 4 ft following seas at the rudder the owner is coaching dont let it fall off more than a few degres or we will pitch roll truly a rush good luck
Well, you certainly did buy a project! I look forward to seeing your progress. Being young certainly has its advantages. At my age, I would not even begin to attempt everything that needs to be done. Good luck and stay safe. You have a beautiful family BTW. You both are lucky to have each other.
Jordan, be cautious of any glass repairs that were left exposed for some time. Depending on the resin used, they can be very weak and may need to be redone before fairing and painting.

Q doesn't do cats or trimarans! He said he has no use for them. I asked him !
great buy, fast, fun boat and you cant loose money, win, win, win!
You can loose money on any boat.
I had a Corsair F-24 and now a Farrier F-22. They are great sailing, fun boats. I've taken each one of them to the Bahamas twice, once single handed and once double handed, for about 3 weeks. Love the transparency, this is the first channel I have seen, that straight up told us how much things cost. Thankyou so much , well done you !!!!
Say whaaa....? You bought another boat....craziness....!
Perfect project! I have a F27 since 6years myself and I love it. Great sailing just remember to keep it light.
The biggest advantage to that is its trailerable
And you can beach it, and it's fast.
Cool to see you guys are back out on the water. . . We just launched our first UA-cam video. Now, I have even more respect for everyone that puts them self's out there in front of the whole world! hopefully we will cross paths someday. Currently in DR
Nothing wrong with an interim boat, good for you. How sweet!
The trimaran is a great project and the price is definitely right! Also Morgan is the star of the show and she's growing so fast!
A big plus is having it right next to the house, so much easier to work on even for just a few minutes at a time.
Cool! We bought one of these last year after being done with Ocean cruising and selling our Valiant. The F27 is a hoot! It's also fun to have it sit in the side yard to work on. Have fun!

Fun Looking Project! Farrier Corsair Trimaran Forum is a great resource for F Boat owners ... I am a fan of these boats . Exhilarating Sailing!!
Looks quite good for the price and should clean up nicely.

Absolutely!!!!! good decision and good price. you're on the right track. (All this coming from an armchair sailor) 😁

WHEWW... A LOT OF WORK THERE PADNA! CANT WAIT TO SEE THE END RESULTS!
Mate an electric motor seriously, they are a great idea for push bikes and E Scooters but in a boat your taking your life in your hands. Cheers

Excellent choice. I'm restoring an even older Farrier TT720, the original Trailer Tri design, 24', pop-top.
Great meeting you and Bobby at the border today, Jordan. I enjoyed seeing your boat and to learn a bit about the Corsair. I am anxious to watch the progress that you make with the Corsair and to see the final result. -Frank
If nothing else, the multihull sailing experience will be great. Presumably your "next next boat" will be a multihull. Looking forward to the content.

Jordan, best of luck on this project. I will be watching for the progress. I one thing I can say for sure, Randy adores you!
Great boat! Looking forward to seeing y’all fix it up. I’m sure y’all know Tula had a new one for about 6 months and really liked it…
Yep, Billy took me sailing! I blame him for this.
Congrats on the new boat guys nice to see Randy.

It looks like fun! I like that its on a trailer. No more slip/yard fees
Hello Mrs.Collinet!
Hi Tati
congrats on the new boat, love you getting back on the water, sail on!
VERY excited to see you guys working on a boat again. I do like the boat tour videos, but I LOVED your rebuild videos.
Really looking forward to seeing this boat come too life
great project...about time someone did this..will be watching your progress..!

F-27s are great boats.... this is definitely one of those 'lots of potential' boats!
Great, guys....a work on.....
R+J Fix n Flip! That is a killer idea!

Good basis, interior stuff is easy to DIY... Wish you lots of success with this boat!
LTL DIY is Back! Life is gooooood.
Thank you. I came to this channel for the DIY and sailing. Looking forward to the future.
Now I am very jealous ! What a great boat
I'm for the DYI and sailing - the boat tours may be paying your bills but if you look at it every successful you tube channel tries to have different content. So sweet and so exciting, did this with my little ones thirty years ago, still sailing.
You could have a couple of nice berths right behind the sitting areas to port and starboard with keeping storage areas below them. I agree about the head and moving it from where it is currently to forward and aft facing.
Based on the excitement I see from both of you this should be great. Looking forward to the addition of DIY videos. Thank you for sharing.
Congrats ! Great to hear will start to show projects & how to improve the boat.
An F27 for that price, wow guys you really scored there. A good stream clean of the carpet and get all the rust spots gone and you'll double your money tomorrow. Great deal guys .. cannot wait to see you out on the water blasting around the keys.
Double their money? LOL You clear have no boat restoration experience.
You have my favorite boat! Congratulations! You will have her shining in no time! I'm sure! I am so looking forward to all of your videos about her!
I Have a Friend with an F27 on the West Coast and I have sailed it in competition mainly but a few fishing/cruising trips also. It is a great boat that you will learn on and be happy with! What a nice find for a fast and capable boat. Kudos to you for getting the DEAL!!!! P.S. we slept five people on the boat when we raced and camped. I wish I could have got the deal you did.
I like the larger (27 & 37) Corsairs a lot, especially if you are into camping. When I win the Powerball, one of my sailboats is going to be the carbon fiber F-37. The obvious great things about them are speed and tiny draft. You can get where you are going, stay ahead of storms, crank up the amases(?) to get into a small slip and great stability while sailing and at anchor. On the other hand, they are also tiny inside. My first real sailboat was a Pearson 26. We took it, actually it took us, all up and down the west coast of Florida, the Dry Tortugas, Key West (dodging a hurricane) and the rest of the Keys. Great for two people for a couple of weeks. But, by comparison, my cabin space from the main hatch forward was real, real close to that of the Corsair 37. The 27 is far smaller by volume. When they are ten or fifteen miles off shore, they let you out and say, "We are a kind and generous people. We mean you no harm. The beach is that way. Have a nice swim." Of course, even assuming you and your family could swim 10 - 15 miles, you wouldn't really know if "that way" was actually in the direction of the beach. See what I mean? So, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, idea. It's not even a reasonable idea when your boat is on the trailer in your side yard. Use it for storage. Sleep elsewhere.
Wow! Are you afraid to leave your bed to get to the bathroom? Not necessary to put ideas into anyone's head. Negative energy has a nasty way of circling back on the one who puts it out there.
Oh yeah! That's a FAST boat. For fun not for living in. It will be a blast until you sell it. 👀🤔🤠⛵
Great having it in the yard to work on it! The last time I heard someone brag about being "unsinkable" an iceberg proved them wrong! 😃
Enjoy the process folks, don't worry about the money already spent, just have fun!
Low headroom is a deal killer for me. Will be fun to watch the repairs though.
Yes yes yes... Please do post the DIY videos... We love them.. At least one guy from India, who even doesn't know how to swim.. Well, I started watching the sail boats with SV Delos around 4 years ago.. Found you guys on the way... So, All the best and waiting for your videos...
Cool, I look forward to the DIY videos and seeing her sail. I'm happy I'm the one watching and you guys are the ones working.
Suggestion aft cabin you could build a storage space and put larger top to fit a wider cushion for the 3 of you to sleep on. Like the bed in your rv.
Yep and their new Corsair cost 120k! These guys got a smoking deal.
Oh my, your more brave than I am. Jordan & Randi, congratulations on your new boat. I'm trying to visualize your dream and it seems d
Congratulations on your new boat. This will be a project worth seeing. I believe you two can really restore this Corsair. The design is not what I expected you to get, so keep the surprises coming. Loved seeing little Morgan as a part of this video. Good Luck!
Great fun to fix up. I would ask Corsair people to set up a deck plan , n get a furling system.
Diamond in the rough! Love it.
This seems like the perfect boat for you folks, all things considered. 👍
It’s good to see you both again (and smiles and well-wishes after seeing the thumbnail of your baby).
looks a lot fun to me and chance to have a go at a tri hull for while ,able to keep it at home on a trailer while getting it sorted just great
I'm pretty stoked to see these next videos as a Corsair is what I hope to get for my first boat!
Tula spent month on a Corsair and had a blast. Congratulations on a great deal.
Whoooo Weeee what a find !! Good luck with the DYI .... looking forward to the new videos. I have learned a lot with your boat tours and previous DYI on "Freebee"..
Awesome new boat and project. The next best thing to living on your project is having it in your yard. Let me know when the sea trials begin.
This is one of my dream boats!!!
Me too. Great find.
Good show! Nice boat! For 10K, it's a win-win. Be looking forward to the project.
I've always sailed monohulls but I recently got to sail a corsair, they are rockets! So fast and stable. Really impressive.
Wow! She's such a little Sweetheart! We named our youngest boy Morgen, with an E. Gaelic meaning for; "Born by the Sea"!
I'm from Norway....and that's not what that means..
@@SOLDOZER Sorry. I guess the "Book of child names", that I used 30yrs ago, was wrong.
Congratulations. Very excited. Looking forward to a video of the electrical planning and then installation, maybe? Good luck and have fun.
I want also a big boat like this for sailing somewhere here in the philippines. Thank for sharing this video.

Cool project - looking forward to your refresh videos.
Awesome…heaps of fun ahead!
Thank you so much. I am really interested in your thinking process on prioritising repairs and modifications.
Cool boat. Needs lots of work but you will be rewarded when work is done.
Cool! Looking forward to the journey.
Well, you certainly did buy a project! I look forward to seeing your progress. Being young certainly has its advantages. At my age, I would not even begin to attempt everything that needs to be done. Good luck and stay safe. You have a beautiful family BTW. You both are lucky to have each other.
Congratulations. The boat looks like she will be a lot of fun to sail once you get her put together.
Jordan, be cautious of any glass repairs that were left exposed for some time. Depending on the resin used, they can be very weak and may need to be redone before fairing and painting.
Pretty awesome that it is trailerable!
Nice project. Reminiscent of our first boat Mac 25. Trailerable just enough space.
