Greetings from a Tiny Island in Maine, USA - Excellent video. Yes I enjoy hearing your narration and would be interested in hearing any other information regarding manufacturing and history on future videos. Boy was that blade sharpened and used a lot 😊. The sheath is very interesting Shows the excellent quality that was taken to make this knife and sheath.
Thanks for the feedback much appreciated 🙏 I remember my grandfathers and grandfather in law also had a lot of knives like that. People relied on the knives to do a lot of stuff around the house and field they were used until very little steel was left. Another thing totaling in consideration is that in many cases they use sharpening stone(some times natural stones) that were course and with the soft steel, they would ware the steel very quickly
I neatfoot oil is my main product for my leather projects(I make my own leather balm with it, bees wax and other waxes) but with this old leathers that are decaying I prefer to use mineral base product. Neatfoot oil sometimes can oxidate and make it worst, making even more brittle.
Little information is available but we cannot forget that back in the day, life was very hard there, that’s why many migrated to the US, looking for better opportunities but I do not know the specifics . He had a horrible end (I preferes not to put how it was in written here because of UA-cam policies) but you can read it on the article I wrote that is on the description of the video
62 is a good age for someone who was born before surgeons used antiseptics and when hot blast oil lanterns were a new thing. Around 60 lot of people start to develop health issues.
@@Oldmora That's a pretty extreme way to end your life. I think it's especially hard for those whom ar left behind. Yeah, life in general was harder back then. Though these days there are plenty who die early also. Lifestyle is a reason.. too many are very obese. It doesn't help with longevity. Tell me about UA-cam's policy. It's awful. I've had so many comments removed/deleted without good reason. Perfectly fine comments. Deleted. Madness...I think it's a bug in their system. Most is automatic. No human hand involved. There's too many comments per second to have that many moderators.
@@Oldmora A woman I know, ended her life also. Don't know how. I didn't have this heard officially. But I know. She told me she would do so when her health would stop her from getting out of the house. She didn't wanted to live when being stuck to her house all day . I have several sensor light/lamps in my weight room/ sleeping room , because of a mouse that entered it, through a dooropening from the ceiling. It ran back into that opening. I had several moustraps placed there. One night one mousetrap closed shut by itself. No mouse to be seen anywhere. This was at 02:30.. I went to bed, and at 03:00 two sensor lamps switched on, not the other 3 which were next to the two . I got up and looked around to see if there was a mouse running around. Nothing. Back to bed. 03:15, another lamp switched on. I got up again. No form of life to be seen. And then when at 02:40 a sensor lamp went on again, I switched them all off, and one I had to remove the batteries. Those lamps switched on at the moment I was nearly asleep. I knew, this is paranormal, having had more of these things happening in the past, and most often after someone passed away. My father, an uncle etc. But also outside of that sometimes. I couldn't figure out at first who it was in this case. Then I remembered who it might be. I called the shop where she had her knifeshop there. And the man told me she died at 1 october. I immediately knew then it was her. She was saying hello. She died at age 64.
Cool knife and sheath. Thanks for sharing
thanks!!!!

Hi Joao, ovrall a good restoration. I missed some more attebtiin tiwards the lesther. If I may suggest sth- use nestsfootsoil. It rejuvenates leather.

A Skyrim lockpick
Those crafty Nords!
🤣🤣🤣
Very unusual knife. Was it for carving or just sharpened away? Thanks 🎸🔪
Could you reformulstd the question? It'hardly undersandable, if at all.
It was just used and sharpened to this point. This represent many decades of constant use for sure
@@paullambert4445 what kind if question is this?

🤣🤣🤣
The Americans and their knife "knowledge'.
Blade saw a lot of use.
indeed. Back in the day, they would get everything out of what a tool could give.
Lars didn't live to a very old age.
What happened..
