A simple yet beautiful leather and cork leather sheath for Mora Classic
Переглядів 1,9 тис.14 днів тому
Handmade leather sheath for a Morakniv classic n.1 in the Nordic style but with a twist, by using natural cork instead of the birch wood. i love this style of sheaths. The cork tree Cork Quercus suber is part of the Oak family, is one of the most common trees in country and has been used to craft all soft off utensils and implements. Its a fairly easy project to do and required very few tools. ...
Conservation of very old Morakniv with more than 130yrs !NOT A RESTORE!

Conservation work on a very old Morakniv made by Lars Mattsson in the end of the 1800s. This is a very old and used knife that needed some attencion. Nothing to crazzy but the leather "Fäbod" sheath needed some repairs and the blade needed some rust removal. Lars Mattsson (1849-1911) was a mechanic and knife manufacturer from Östnor, Mora, Sweden. He is known for his knives, which feature a ben...
A little edge care for a few knives for the upcoming cutting tools workshop

Giving some TLC on a hand full of Morakniv knives for an upcoming cutting tools workshop. The worst that can happen is to go do a workshop with dull knives ;) Nothing facing or complicated; i just used a DMT coarse & fine dual side, DMT 1200 and a stop with AUTOSOLE metal polish paste.

One more knife from the "projects" box brought back to life. This time is a vintage Frost N.386 in carbon steel, probably from the 1970s. This knife needed a lot of work and elbow grease but its now ready another 50 years of work. In another video, I will make a replica of the original sheath out of leather. I Frost was one of the initial makers in Mora, operating since the 1890s and still exis...
This Mora Knife Needed Serious TLC. Here's How I Fixed It

This old and beaten vintage Mora knife, needed some work done, to be back into workable. I restore them with the intent of making them usable again, and not fake beauty queens. All the work is done only with simple hand tools that most already have at home. Try it for you self, and see how rewarding is to put this old and beaten knives back to life. As I like to say, “bring back vintage Mora kn...

Survival isn't a competition if someone has a good knife they like and you like a different one they can both be good knives.
Feliz navidad oye cuantos cuchillos tienes as un video
You've got more light there than me here.
This way of thinking goes for ANY skill you are looking to learn. Start with the basic necessities. Learn the foundation of the discipline with those. And then scale up. Doesn’t matter if you’re driving a car, learning bushcraft, or playing the drums…start with the basics
I have used sandpaper for many years to sharpen my scissors and knives with. For me I think it's easier to sharpen my scissors with sandpaper rather than a whetstone nice video.
Beautiful, excellent craftsmanship. Looks like something out of a fairy tale
Thanks 🙏
This mean: 1. Stainless Garberg for Survival 2. Carbon Garberg for Bushcraft ???
Well, first of all you have to take in consideration the environment you are in. If it’s wet and or high humidity, stainless for sure. If you want to a knife that you can use together with a piece of flint to get a spark, then go stainless. If you want a steel that need little care, then go with stainless. If you want a steel that is a bit easier to sharpen then go with carbon
Awesome so much mora knife 🤩🤩
🤣 this is part of the collection 🤣

Merry Christmas !
Merry Christmas’s to you and your family
Beautiful tree sir 🎄 Merry Christmas to you and yours
Thanks you very much.
🙌🙏🌲🎄 🌞☀🌟⭐ Merry Christmas and a beautiful peaceful year. I'm waiting for the sun to shine. 🤷♂
Merry Christmas to you and your family. On the 23th with the kids was on the beach with 18c ☀️🏖️🤣
@@Oldmora That's not going to be found here. 9 degrees celcius though. Still not cold. I was on the bicycle yesterday, I had to open the jacket , I get warm really quickly. Lava is in my body.
@@Oldmora I need some clear sky sunlight. Maybe I should get myself a light therapy lamp. As a substitute for the sun. It's been for 11 days without sunlight here. Only dark grey sky.
@@Oldmora The Old Romans already said it. You can only live in the north when you are born there. The climate is that bad. Always dark. Rainy etc. Hence many Dutch pensioners living in Spain. Portugal they have probably a bunch of Dutch people also.
I wish you a pleasant and peaceful time.
For you too 🎄🙏
Merry Christmas to you and family.🎄🎅Nice Tree.
Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄
Óptimo! Feliz natal!
Obrigado igualmente 🎄
Well now I'm starting to feel the Christmas spirit. Thank you very much my friend. Merry Christmas to you and a happy new year. I look forward to many more videos about my favorite vintage knives.
Thanks you very for the support. Happy Christmas for you and your family
I have some expensive knives, but still use Mora Companion for everyday tasks, because I don't want to ruin those expensive blades. And if I ever manage to break my Mora I will just go and buy another one for 10 or 15 bucks.
Looks like it might just 🛟?
Cody's is just not famous enough it's disrespectful
I inherited the one in the center, perpendicular to the rest, with the large silver butt. It has a red plastic case. I would love to know more about it
That could be a n.235. If you go to the UA-cam profile there is a link for my social media. And I there there is a link to sending an email. Send me an email with a photo and I will try to identify and give a time frame
@Oldmora 👊 thanks
Me also. carbon and fixed. That said. I've seen pretty tough folding knives.
For outdoor for sure a fixed blade is my choice. But I am good with both carbon and stainless. Still I always carry a SAK on my pocket as back or EDC
@@Oldmora I live in a city. So EDC is for me utility snap-off knife , 9mm. Cuts all the cardboard I need. At work especially. For other duties I use fixed blade knives.
You incorrectly pronounce his surname it written Kochanski but his parents was from Poland so his surname should be read as Kohanski (as H not as CH) ... from polish word Kochać - means Love
Thanks for the correction.
I remember thinking those were cool, while in reality I didn't care for them. And now I wish I got and kept one!
ahahah its always like that
Very good, 5 stars. When in Etsy? Luso greetings.
This was done for me but if you want one i think i can manage to do one more. send me a DM if interested

The old №1 is my favourite of all the Mora classics. I guess with Cork you can allow a little smaller "friction fit" dimensions to add to the leather to retain the knife? Great job Joao 👍🏼
Yes. Corks gives a very tight fit
Such a beautiful result.
@@heyarno thanks 🙏
Hi Joao, ovrall a good restoration. I missed some more attebtiin tiwards the lesther. If I may suggest sth- use nestsfootsoil. It rejuvenates leather.
I neatfoot oil is my main product for my leather projects(I make my own leather balm with it, bees wax and other waxes) but with this old leathers that are decaying I prefer to use mineral base product. Neatfoot oil sometimes can oxidate and make it worst, making even more brittle.
@Oldmora thx
Very unusual knife. Was it for carving or just sharpened away? Thanks 🎸🔪
Could you reformulstd the question? It'hardly undersandable, if at all.
It was just used and sharpened to this point. This represent many decades of constant use for sure
@@paullambert4445 what kind if question is this?
Nice idea. I made a sheath from beech wood and very little leather inside. I shall try combining wood with leather next.
Sounds great!
Very cool. Does look great.
Thanks!
Beautiful and very different. I love my Mora #1, but mine is in traditional dyed red. I also made my own welted leather dangler sheath for it. Thanks 🎸🔪
This was also a red handle many moons ago. I scrapped off the red paint and applied some linseed oil.
Excellent idea, excellent work!
Thank you very much!
Wow
Came out great didn’t it ?
Nicely done. 👍
Thanks
Very nice job.
Thanks
That is very cool, good use of left overs.
Indeed
Thank you for the demonstration.👍
Thanks 🙏
What does the stamp on the blade mean?
We are still investigating the exact history of the knife. Normally those stamps are associated with the Swedish crown.
Someone hasn't kept to the scandi grind and put a different bevel on it.
Yes, someone did a bad job sharpening it
I collect Mora's ❤❤ them
There is always one more Mora knife to buy 🤣 are you into the vintage ones or the new ones ?
Nice solution!
Thanks 🙏
can i ask, is puukko knives are the same as morakniv? bcos puukko is from finland/finnish army knife. while morakniv is from sweden/swedish army
A Puukko is what Finnish people in general call a small utilitarian knife. While the Morakniv is a small utilitarian knife made in the town of Mora Sweden. Norway always have their own word that this type of knife. All this knives probably share the same heritage, that goes back the Viking era.
can someone explain why the kansbol n the 2000 blades were designed like that
The first one was the 2000, that goes back to the end of the 1980s. The main item it to have a very versátil tool for hunters and outdoors man. The first part with the scandi grind for regular usage and the front part with the distinctive grinding better for skinning and food prep
Had it before it's a good knife but it broke at the handle 😢
Really? How did you manage that ?
Send me anyone of those. You know your knives
ahahahah :)
❤ it
It’s a true beauty
I used to watch a tv show with this guy but i dont remember what its called 😢
Dual survival, Matt & Cody
@elijad965 thank you kind stranger 🫡
You have to recon and find out
Followed you for yrs , carbon steel is easier to sharpen also.
Best choice. My Mora #2 is a keeper. Even wear it as a neck knife when hiking. Learned from Master Cody! He knows his stuff.
Great video.
Thanks!
