- Im often asked where someone who has restricted mobility can go fishing.
This episode answers that question. I went to the Newhaven Western Esplanade yesterday to pass some time while I was waiting for the bait diggers to deliver bait to Toolsn Tackle In Newhaven town centre, and while i was there I got hcatting to 2 new friends, Rod and Brian , who were setting up to fish there. Both were of the strong opinion that it was an ideal mark , that would allow someone who has mobility issues could fish easily, and I have to say I agreed.
so I intend to start a campagn to persuade the owners of the land to facilitate this, with designated priority spots . what I suggest is that its not like a disabled parking bays, but there are spots that prioritise people with disability, ie if you get their first , you have to give up your place if someone who has restricted mobility turns up. If you agree with me on this please let me know.
While I was editing this video , the sad news about the loss of a Newhaven Trawler hit the headlines, My thoughts go out to the family and crew of the Joanna C.
As usual lovely stuff Mr fun to watch nice to see frends fishing together
Thanks
Very informative as always Chris looks snag less and a nice easy fishing spot. Tight lines mate
I would like to persuade the owners to set aside an area there for disabled sea anglers.
Hi Chris....really enjoyed this. Have subscribed and will work through the videos 👍
Thanks for your support, all subs help develop the channel, comments and thumbs up help too. Ring the notification bell to hear of new videos, i have a couple in production, and try to put out at least 1 per week.
Thanks for sharing
nice to see u doing spots where older people can get to. and not big walks. hope u can do more like that
Will do.
I love marks that you can get to from the car! Woo much better in bad weather!!!!
Yeah , ideal.
Didn't even know there's a car park, good to know 👍🏻
its not free ,but not expensive
Thank you for this video, the venue looks great and a cheap car park (compared with rip off Bournemouth). Even though conditions did not look great it still looked fishable. What was the bird with the damaged leg?
The bird was a Turnstone.
Great video CJ. Nice venue for older folks and those with mobility problems - my limbs are all OK but I have COPD so struggle with hills and walking any distance.
I agree with your idea to get a little area for disabled anglers but not sure how it would work - I don't have a Blue Badge (don't see the need) so how would folks like me prove their disability? I'm 225 miles West anyway! If you look on Google Earth, you can see the rig you mentioned, near where you were fishing! Stay safe & well. 👍👍
Its a pity the council or the port dont make more of it as accessible fishing.
Hi, thanks for the video. What were the rod holders that were mounted round the bars? Look really useful!
I think they are made by tronix, just a bendy soft covered tube that you bend to shape, but they looked good
That's a great idea about the disabled spots, Tight lines from Cork
Just looking in to how to progress the idea, spoke to the local tackle shop and they are on board. Just got to convince the port authority and land owners now.
there is a lovely rough ground mark half way along the beach the other side of the west arm, check it at low water, you can park right above it in the furthest car park
Yes will do.
I went after I see your comment, but its shut off as an `unsafe structure`. So went on the little pier for the day. Did see people on it fishing though.
@@jimooky7113 The arm its self is closed ,its the beach the otherside of the east arm towards brighton, about halfway along, there are a few bits of metal rail sticking upright out the mark, hope this helps
@@kriskarrouze9079 Nice one m8!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🎣🎣tight lines
And you mate. 👍
Where can you get those rod rests that twist round the rails ?
They are made by tronix i believe. So you should be able to get them in your local tackle shop or they can order them for you
this looks a good place to bring the little lads as a starter for them and also can a transit fit under the height restrictions
I think so, i take my transporter in there. If not you can go to the wharf next to the Hope inn.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ thank you for rhe heads up
Hello there just asking is there a height barrier at this venue at the carpark entrance?
Yes i believe there is.
nice one mate
Thanks
well done again CJ
thanks
love to dig it now Only done some big tides in the past
Yeah its a pity you cant get down to dig it.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ last time i took a spud fork to the edge of the water on a big tide and there were thousands of worms Just trench um out
@@peteranddorothybowles5428 you cant get down onto the beach the steps are closed off.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ I know mate Good while now Dovers the same lost the admiralty pier They won't ever open it propper again Shame
ive fished there a few times ,,,,, but was on the arm when a tornado hit me ,,,caravans on the buckle were picked up and dumped upside down , a terryfying expieriance as an angler
Fortunately that is a once in several lifetimes occurence. When was that 1987?
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ no it was after that cj
Like this spot
Yes , very convenient.
any mention of seatrout in this vid,,,
No, no mention of Seatrout. However the do indeed migrate up the river Ouse, so in theory it must be possible to catch them where i filmed.
Any post code to this place guys ?
I will research and get back.
Bn9 9dn. Is the nearest.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ Many thanks bud
Can this spot be fished low tide aswell
It was low water when Rod and Brian set up. But small tides. ,
Any toilets near by?
I think the nearest would be back down the road near the Marina,
A very disappointing video, only one little fish, don't know why anyone would want to go there even if you can park near your fishing spot.
Sorry you didnt enjoy the video, but thats fishing, sometimes you catch sometimes you dont. They did catch some more Whiting later after i had gone, also fishing in daylight is seldom as good as at night. The point is access, there are very few Seafishing spots that offer this level of access for people who have mobility challenges. If you know of anywhere else, please share it.
@@SEAFISHINGwithCJ May thanks for replying, it's much appreciated, tight lines.
