i've had mine for over 4 years; 'there is nothing out there like this motorcycle' hands down this thing is incredible sure only a 5 speed but that gearbox shifts quite nice and the torque is beyond incredible.
I own a '22 Rocket 3 R GT -- but I'd be lying if I didn't admit to the cool looks of this 2016 Rocket 3 roadster. Looks magnetic and masculine, just the way I like my motorcycles.
To those who are thinking about the ramair kit upgrade you will have to remap the ecu otherwise it will run too lean. If you are not going to do that I would just replace the factory filter with k&n you will feel a boost from that and it will help gas mileage. The mileage will go down with the ramair but it will perform better if that is what you are looking for
Did the Ramair give you a good boost? Ive yet to install mine, just recieved it in the mail straight from the motherland. What kind of rack do you have? I'm looking for a decent luggage rack that fits over the rear fender...also how do the TORS sound compared to stock? I've got some custom headers and pipes being built but I've always been curious about the TORS, not a lot of good audio out there. And Corbin...They are building my fairing as we speak and color matching the Phantom black and cranberry red racing stripes which I'm excited about but they are certainly hard to get ahold of... have they treated you well? sorry for the barrage of questions but I'm very exited about this project!
The dealership I bought my bike from told me that they would have to take the tank off and the top of the motor off and replace the head gasket and O-rings it’s about 6 to 7 hour labor job plus parts it’s very expensive
Nonsense. The tank stays in place. The gasket is best done when the valves are checked at the appropriate service interval. The leak can can be slowed by slightly tightening the screws.
Your bike should have came with a two-year factory warranty I added an extra two years to it........ don’t get me wrong I love my bike I’m not trying to scare you there a lot like Harley Davidson they’re very unique bikes with character and they run great but when they break down they’re expensive as hell to fix
one thing i noticed about fast cruisers that first gear is a killer. Neen riding since i was 16 am 57 now i spilled 2 times in my life and it was in first gear. The rocket is super fast maybe 2nd the vmax and you will lose the bike from the torque alone
I have the exact same 2016 bike as you do. Don’t buy the ram air for this bike it’s a waste of money if you bought this bike brand-new I bought at KNN air filter to replace the stock paper filter. Just pulled the old paper filter out put the other one in and you’re good to go
the RamAir kit is fantastic. Gives a far better induction sound, more power, AND gives you a 'trunk' with all the space under the seat that the standard airbox gives way to. Why do you think it's a waste?
Something you have to realize they are very picky about aftermarket parts on a brand new bike especially triump!!! I only have 6500 miles on my bike and I have a head gasket leak that I will have to take in and fixed under warranty.... and yes this is a common problem with these engines so watch the top of the head of the motor make sure there’s no leak... sometimes when these engines are put together they don’t seal the head gasket properly and it gets bent and then it will start to leak oil
the valve cover crimping and leaking is a known issue a couple of things can cause this oil running to thin (racing oil etc) gettign to hot will put pressure on the seals (i speak from experience) also not correctly torqued down originally. The job to replace the valve cover isn't terribly expensive like 150-200 bucks tops. i"m on my 3rd valve and it is not leaking.
I just hate the front tire size, makes the fork tubes look like spaghetti, and the tire itself looks like it came from a farm tractor rear wheel, kinda cartoo-nish. I'm more into the drag bike style (V-MAX, V-ROD MUSCLE, DIAVEL, etc.). I wonder if Triumph will let this one rot and starve outdated or will they give it a meaningful refresh. I hope they keep it alive and modernized.
Yeah kinda missing the point of the bike, Carpenter Racing managed to get 230hp out of it with stock valves. It's made to rip on a wave of torque while being so under-stressed the engine will last longer than a car.
Only thing I don't like about this bike is the name. Rocket sounds like they ran out of naming ideas and just went wtf ... call it a rocket. Should have gone wtf .. we'll name it the "WTF!" because that's what comes flying out of your mouth when you ride it.
I purchased a 2014 R3 Roadster two weeks ago. LOVE it.

Just picked up a 2016 with 6000 miles on it. Its a beast! Has an exhaust, intake and tuner. BEAST!
Thank you for posting this video, comfort is extremely important in a bike like this.
Nothing compares to the Rocket. That's why I've had mine for 9 years.
What year is yours?
@@cconti5172 2006
@@cconti5172 YES i STILL HAVE IT. :)
Awesome bike! I love mine ☺
I just bought a 2010 model, awaiting delivery #excited
Thank You, Good video young man
Can you not remove the baffles to up the sound?

Beautiful Views from your house, what’s your town?
Hey Northern, fellow rocket owner in Seattle area here.
Nice, how long have you owned yours? any mods?
2014, r3 roadster. TORs exhaust, RamAir airbox eliminator, dynotuned, Corbin seat, jumbo hardbags, heated grips, rack, 139db stebel horn, headlight upgrade. best bike i have ever ridden.

your making me sick walking back and forth. stand still a little bit and focus! speak up and be clear.

Anastasios Alafogiannis That’s why you feather the throttle and use the friction zone.
im getting ready to have my wheels black powder coated...should look good
Ride safe my friend
I'm the same way about the Cruise control.
Tractor!!! Are you thinking of one of them harley things?
Another bike video without riding. What a pity.
How does the bike handle for low speed maneuvers? Parking lots, traffic, that sort of thing?
it feels lighter then it is once it moves so with practice it handles very well but you need to practice it
8 minutes later... & You like cruise control. Got it.

I too would like to know why ramair is a waste? From what I read it is a far better system than the original and is an improvement on air flow...

No its not a common problem. Where you getting your information?

99/100 it's the valve cover leaking. Head gasket problems are uncommon.

JIGA BACHI I've heard that they will be making an upgraded version next year, with a larger engine too...lol
you mean the 2018 model??? this one ?? www.triumphmotorcycles.in/bikes/cruisers/rocket/2018/rocket-iii-roadster
Vignesh Sivakumar well that's disappointing
It’s kind of a hit and miss with these bikes some of them have a bad head gasket and some don’t at all just pay attention to it
Technology embarrassment... 2.3 liters 160hp , 5speed ... .
Yeah kinda missing the point of the bike, Carpenter Racing managed to get 230hp out of it with stock valves. It's made to rip on a wave of torque while being so under-stressed the engine will last longer than a car.
Just bought one. We will see eh? :-)
I love my Raider, but also want one of these too!
I’ve got a raider currently, thinking about selling it for one of these 😄 if I could afford to have both I would
Dude, hold still. Pacing and talking is literally making me want to stop watching an otherwise reasonable review
Only thing I don't like about this bike is the name. Rocket sounds like they ran out of naming ideas and just went wtf ... call it a rocket. Should have gone wtf .. we'll name it the "WTF!" because that's what comes flying out of your mouth when you ride it.
Does it come in any color than that awful black?
Think they do em in pink just for you!
In this year there was phantom red or phantom blue.
No cruise control? Who gives a shit? Ram air is a waste of money. Just get a k&n filter.
agreed
