I've had mine for 11 years. It's been a great bike, I never get sick of it. I've ridden a few other big cruisers and they just don't come close in any area. Excellent bike for long trips. The big tyres soak up the ripples. The engine just gives unlimited torque . They are not so great in heavy stop/start traffic. They need to be stretching their legs on a lonely highway.
I have an 06 Rocket here in New Zealand. Love the bike and I too sometimes hit the limiter in first. The trick is to lift it into 2nd gear and let the clutch out before removing your foot of the gear lever. It's just a fun bike to ride and own.
This was my first and only time riding it in the video so it was hard to know in advance when to shift before limiter comes on, every bike is different. =) And yes... so much fun to ride it. Very nice motorcycle and power. Thanks for watching my video! =)

As an owner, what I really like is how it glides along at 140kph. The big tyres give it an armchair ride but remains solidly planted like its glued to the road. I don't enjoy riding it in traffic. It needs a bit of elbow room and the engine doesn't like slow traffic.

i love these Rocket since the first day i saw and heard one in 2005, the 20 km that I covered with one in 2007 convinced me of its ease of driving, but my garage is too little 💔
My dream is to learn to ride by the end of the year and after 3-5 years buy the 2018 Rocket III. Hopefully this will be my year and I can get started on that dream, either way I should have the Rocket by the time the lockdowns end haha.
The rocket is easy to ride so no need to wait that long. But after a year or so you should be ready =) lockdowns heheh, we have never had them here in Sweden Thanks for watching
Can you ride a Rocket X and give a comparison video between the 2006 & 2015 models please? Also which exhaust on your 06 the true sound of the R3 is unleashed?
The R3X is not fundamentally different to the one he was riding. The R3X was probably just a marketing ploy to move the last 500 frames and engines before new emissions laws came into being
@ 2:53 remember it’s a 2.3 so it is pretty much a euro car gear box so very gappy i between gears my rocket has the same problem and so dose a lot of people i’ve spoke to
I've owned an 08 since almost new. You shouldn't be hitting the rev limiter if you want a fast take off. Change gears about 3500 and stay in the torque curve. At 5000 RPM. they have nothing left. The 2nd gear could have problem from the previous owners abusing it.
This bike is definitely going to be added to the bucket. I like it. I know it's heavy. But I fkn like it. That's a fkn riding bike fasho. . I'll probably blow it up in a minute but. A fkn epic minute I can see

i have a 2004 rocket 3, lovely bike, only problem is the electronics are not so great, apart from that its awesome, apparently sounds like an aircraft when your next to it doing 70mph

Sometimes I feel it needs another gear, but 5th does the job. It's the low down torque that's alluring. It's an engine designed to be modified for more power. But most are happy with the R 3 in stock form.

It depends on how and when you shift. If it's missing gears, or jumping out of gear, it has a problem.
