Most of our typical Vietnamese family (Husband & Wife, 2 kids) in Hanoi and HCMC manage to do well with total income below $1000 per monnth. So being an expat, living alone here, $1000 a month is enough for you to live comfortably. However, if you want to have a playboy lifestyle, then Sky is the limit, really. People are getting richer very fast in Vietnam, and in Hanoi and Saigon, you are not consider "rich" if you do not have more then 5 millions dollar in your bank account. So we also have a lot of "luxury service" for these guys that cost you a lot if you want to try 😂😂😂
From my experience living in Vietnam this is the most accurate cost of living video I have ever seen. Most vlogers seem to promote a lavish lifestyle which is fine but totally unnecessary. When they say you need 2000 dollars minimum, I just want to give them a good slap.

Lương một giáo viên bản xứ khoảng tầm 1000$, ngoài ra còn có thêm các job phụ cho thu nhập thụ động như chứng khoán, tiền ảo... năng động hơn thì làm nhà sáng tạo nội dung trên tiktok, youtube như Phúc, kiếm cũng không ít đâu. Nhưng giờ trung tâm ngoại ngữ nhiều, lựa chọn đầu vào cũng khắt khe hơn, nhiều người nước ngoài không dễ tìm việc ở VN với mức lương kể trên. Gần đây trên reddit còn hay lưu truyền một xu hướng, đó là "cày" tiền ở quốc gia của họ trong vòng 15 năm, sau đó chuyển sang các nước đông nam á sống. Nghĩ cũng đúng, một người có công việc chính quy ở nước ngoài, thu nhập 1 tháng của họ bằng 2 năm làm công nhân ở VN. cày cuốc 15 năm, đến 35,40 tuổi nghỉ hưu mang khoản tiền tiết kiệm sang VN sống.

Let's be honest, this is a bit cheaper than I think is realistic. If you have a good job, $2000 is easy. I live in Hanoi, pay $900 for a two bed luxury apartment, and another $1000 for coffee, insurance, food etc. Why eat Veitnamese food everyday? They have amazing food here in Vietnam that's from various countries. Curry might be $10, even going to Lotte for a burger and some Korean chicken would be $10.
Great Vlog Phuc, Cost of living definatley depends on where you live. We own a house 2 hours North of Saigon so no rental costs. Only costs me around $50 aud a week for basic food. Smokes ( Before you say it, i know i should quit! lol) about $5 a week (100k vietnam dong for a carton of 10). I dont drink much alcohol, probably a carton every 3 months. Power cost depends on air con use, normally around $70 aud a month if the bedroom aircon stays on all night. Ide say on average ide spend $100 a week with sundries included. I must look into health cover, something i keep leaving on the back burner
For sure, we were pricing different apartments in Central Vietnam and it was ridiculously cheap. Obviously the normal living costs come in to play, but don’t skip out on the insurance, you don’t want to meet her and not have it

Im using viettel telecom and its cost me $4.3/month ($3.2 for 1GB data and $1 for roaming). For the motobike gasoline approximately $3.9/week. Eating cost $2.6~$3.9 3 meals/day. For the rental cost, my friend living in container, cost him $21.7/month or living in 10m2 room in my boss's mini apartment cost $43/month, sharing WC yike. Im using my own bike, never rent a motobike before. Average incomes in HCMC is $434/month

The locals love Western foreigners that can speak good Vietnamese for several reasons. 1. It's impressive and shows real dedication since Western languages and Vietnamese is vastly different. 2. Locals would think these foreigners whom go through the difficulty must like the Vietnamese or atleast really want to mingle in some way. 3. Any Western foreigner that can speak the local language is good for buissness. My family is close friends with an African guy that can speak perfect Vietnamese and English whom is married to a beautiful Viet women. Everyone loves him. Trust me though, getting good at Vietnamese is difficult because you gotta get the sound and tone right but practice is key.

If you ask locols to rent an apartment of 50-60m2 with 2 bedrooms in hochiminh city ,only 250 $ for month. But can stay up to 4-5 people. And you can also buy a used motobike for 150 -200$
Live like local, cause im local and it cost 7mils to 10mils vnd average to live ( just food, some bills , and rent) if u want some higher living yes there is out there but it not local anymore and cost around 15 - 20mils, district is important too, the price of living will be adjust to different area. Well done Phuc . Don't think I could ever live in Vietnam . Would miss California too much. But I would love to vacation there for a couple of weeks though. Expenses are relative. If you have the means, you don't have to worry about the costs too much.

It is $12 for Pho in the states now Phuc. Add tax, tip, and a drink to that bowl and you are paying $20 for a Pho meal. And it is not as good as Saigon's Pho.

I would say: Food: $10/day/person is sufficient Rent: most foreigners I know pay around $400-500/month for a decent apartment/studio Grab Taxi (car): $4-8 around the city (per trip)
If your family includes a child in the school going age, keep in mind that international schools are very expensive. ISHCMC, the American, British, Australian and French schools in Ho Chi Minh City all advertise their fees online. Cheers, OX
cost of housing depends but should be about 1000 a month to rent a whole house with yards. If rent econ units of 5x10m in the smaller towns, you will need to pay at lowest 30 a month but this is hard to find. 50 a month sounds more realistic for this in smaller towns. In Saigon, tiny AC units 3x3m with full bath cost about 200 rent monthly in 2017. In general, 500 is budget for rent monthly. All other costs add up to like another 1000 a month. Max you need 2000 a month to live here comfortably. If travel will need more

Can you make a video on what is the best way to get money from my US banks when I’m in VN and how do you carry money around, like in the US, we just use debit cards. Is ATM readily available ? in the big city, ATM is always available. If you use VISA card then you can cash out anytime with the cost of 0.5$ per transaction, but remember to look for VISA logo on the ATM, some local bank ATM just support their card only. For the SIM card is quite easy and cheap (around 5-10$ that already have some money in it) to buy one that support 4G and have it install on your phone.
VISA ? MASTER CARD ?? IS WHERE. VN is growing fast. Most local restaurant use credit. You can go to bank to exchange money. Take 10 000 USD in your luggage you can have comfortable life in VN for 6-8 months.
Living in the countryside or the minor cities is cheaper than in Hanoi or Saigon. We can buy a standard house for around 60 000 $ or even cheaper ( or 600k-800k $ if you try to buy a mansion). Living costs around 300$/month for the basic standard ( cooking by yourself). Of course, living in the countryside means you don't usually have many styles of entertainment, but you always can travel to Saigon or Hanoi when you want.

My expenses are 16 to 20 million a month. That's for a studio apartment, bike, eating local food, and going to western places three times a week

Tính cả tiền thuê phòng trọ và ăn uống cơ bản thì 300 USD là đủ cho một người

The locals love Western foreigners that can speak good Vietnamese for several reasons.
1. It's impressive and shows real dedication since Western languages and Vietnamese is vastly different.
2. Locals would think these foreigners whom go through the difficulty must like the Vietnamese or atleast really want to mingle in some way.
3. Any Western foreigner that can speak the local language is good for buissness.
My family is close friends with an African guy that can speak perfect Vietnamese and English whom is married to a beautiful Viet women. Everyone loves him. Trust me though, getting good at Vietnamese is difficult because you gotta get the sound and tone right but practice is key.
I feel welcomed by the community at home in Vietnam and abroad

If you ask locols to rent an apartment of 50-60m2 with 2 bedrooms in hochiminh city ,only 250 $ for month. But can stay up to 4-5 people. And you can also buy a used motobike for 150 -200$
Live like local, cause im local and it cost 7mils to 10mils vnd average to live ( just food, some bills , and rent) if u want some higher living yes there is out there but it not local anymore and cost around 15 - 20mils, district is important too, the price of living will be adjust to different area. Well done Phuc . Don't think I could ever live in Vietnam . Would miss California too much. But I would love to vacation there for a couple of weeks though. Expenses are relative. If you have the means, you don't have to worry about the costs too much.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but you should try it out sometime. It’s one of those things where you realize how expensive it is in America!

@@ChrissieSM Agreed, I could spend a year there and still not see enough. I call California my home so I would miss it dearly after just 2 weeks. Only know this because I have been all over the world traveling and most have been just 2 weeks at a time and have always missed being home.
@@phucmapvlog America has it's costs as compared to Vietnam and Thailand. I truly enjoy watching others vlogging and love Vietnam. It's just not for me. Especially the heat/humidity, the traffic and the air pollution. I would spend most of my time in Da Lat or Hoi An, Phu Quoc if I visited. I am glad you call it home though.

You should start a business to teach English in Vietnam or teach foreigners to speak Vietnamese since you are able to speak both language. Similar to NinjaTeacher with that guy Alex who lives in Saigon and has his own UA-cam channel.

It is $12 for Pho in the states now Phuc. Add tax, tip, and a drink to that bowl and you are paying $20 for a Pho meal. And it is not as good as Saigon's Pho.

I would say:
Food: $10/day/person is sufficient
Rent: most foreigners I know pay around $400-500/month for a decent apartment/studio
Grab Taxi (car): $4-8 around the city (per trip)

Regarding food, if you cook yourself it would be even cheaper, this applies to anywhere in the world.

If your family includes a child in the school going age, keep in mind that international schools are very expensive. ISHCMC, the American, British, Australian and French schools in Ho Chi Minh City all advertise their fees online. Cheers, OX

cost of housing depends but should be about 1000 a month to rent a whole house with yards. If rent econ units of 5x10m in the smaller towns, you will need to pay at lowest 30 a month but this is hard to find. 50 a month sounds more realistic for this in smaller towns. In Saigon, tiny AC units 3x3m with full bath cost about 200 rent monthly in 2017. In general, 500 is budget for rent monthly. All other costs add up to like another 1000 a month. Max you need 2000 a month to live here comfortably. If travel will need more

Can you make a video on what is the best way to get money from my US banks when I’m in VN and how do you carry money around, like in the US, we just use debit cards. Is ATM readily available ? in the big city, ATM is always available. If you use VISA card then you can cash out anytime with the cost of 0.5$ per transaction, but remember to look for VISA logo on the ATM, some local bank ATM just support their card only. For the SIM card is quite easy and cheap (around 5-10$ that already have some money in it) to buy one that support 4G and have it install on your phone.

VISA ? MASTER CARD ?? IS WHERE. VN is growing fast. Most local restaurant use credit. You can go to bank to exchange money. Take 10 000 USD in your luggage you can have comfortable life in VN for 6-8 months.

Living in the countryside or the minor cities is cheaper than in Hanoi or Saigon.
We can buy a standard house for around 60 000 $ or even cheaper ( or 600k-800k $ if you try to buy a mansion).
Living costs around 300$/month for the basic standard ( cooking by yourself).
Of course, living in the countryside means you don't usually have many styles of entertainment, but you always can travel to Saigon or Hanoi when you want.
But there is no job in those areas
