To be honest, Smash's music overall just notices the general and most popular, remixing them too many times to be faulty (there are some exceptions, but still)

It’s insane to me how some of the soundtracks aren’t even complete, like Splatoon 3 not having the seasonal splatfest music or side order. Also it is such a missed opportunity that they didn’t put any of the Luigi’s mansion soundtracks the day before halloween
I can say that the reason why the Splatoon 3 soundtrack is nearly not as complete as the rest probably has to do with the fact that there's a second Splatoon 3 soundtrack, ORDERTUNE, that is yet to be released this December, which will contain the remaining post-launch songs such as everything from Side Order. Nintendo probably doesn't want their music app to cause sales of the upcoming soundtrack album to stagger by releasing most of what the album has to offer early on the app. This isn't so much a problem with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (which already had its album released back in February this year digitally for Japan) or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (which has an in-game music player as of Wave 6 of the BCP).
@@rhysduross Well, it wouldn't exactly be fair to have the complete soundtrack to be available on the app everywhere BUT Japan, right? And even if they did that anyway, those same Japanese customers would've tried to find a way to cheat the system (e.g. use a VPN or something)

Maybe they'll get the music out faster than they do with the games for NSO? I imagine handling the music releases might be easier than games, which probably take a bit of time to keep coding stable and what not. I'm not a master at knowing this, so feel free to correct me.
@@madnessarcade7447 But why? It the same with NSO and the VC. The Wii U had all the games, for the switch they get added one by one for no reason then to keep their walled garden. Same here, do you know that there is a Music Player in Smash Ultimate with almost all Nintendo Songs? There is no reason that they not ad all the Songs they have already in Smash into it, but just to simply keep their walled garden
You hit the nail on the head. The exclusivity is what kills this pointless application. I've had 90GB of video game music, all in one place, on my phone and PC for 10 years now, and the majority of that music is Nintendo's. They took way too long to come up with a solution that does nothing for people like me.
I’m holding off on complaining until we actually get an idea of the rate at which new soundtracks will be added. Because other than this, the app is essentially perfect (at least to me).
The only thing I’m taking away from this video is that Nintendo is gonna go MAD against all UA-cam videos with 1 second of Nintendo music… Nintendo the apple of video games…
I think this move makes perfect sense for the company. Nintendo has always prided themselves on their strategy of doing exactly what people ask for, no more. They're a big corporate monkey's paw. When people ask for a new Wii Sports, Mario Golf, Mario Soccer, Mario Kart, console accessories, the Switch Pro, a way to stream their music, etc., Nintendo does it. But they don't do anything exemplary or fantastic, they just make a product that functions and cash the easy check. And release free updates for said functional products to excuse themselves for selling them in an incomplete state at full market price.
But still, even if it makes sense *FOR NINTENDO*, they're one of the biggest game companies out there, they have no excuse to release apps like this unfinished. I get Nintendo Alarmo, because it was probably the first time they did something like this, but Nintendo Music has no excuse to be so incomplete
I'm excited that Nintendo has finally launched a music application but I'm worried that Nintendo Music will be used to remove UA-cam videos from the soundtracks of their games to force people to use their app but I hope that doesn't happen and that they add much more music and give credits to the composers.
Legal my ass. Uploading their music on UA-cam is perfectly legal and I don't care if anyone says otherwise. Nintendo loses nothing by me listening to an F zero track that, the only way to do so, would literally be to just stay idle in the game (with all the sound effects and in game stage timer running) yeah no I don't care about legality.
It's not the only way, there is also a Music Player in Smash Ultimate and Nintendo is Releasing CDs you can buy, like the Mario Odyssey on BlackScreenRecords
My first impression was strange, because immediately I wasn't happy it required Switch Online just to work. $25 CAD out the gate for a limited, one-company-only music service was stupid, but I already have Switch Online so I just shrugged and signed in. Looked for Mario Galaxy and it was there, however if I had looked for any other game I likely would've seen the flaws instantly. Some features are nice, seeing as you have no ads, it's a bonus to the rest of Switch Online, and you can listen to it while your phone is off, however the limited library, lack of credits for every song, and just the bare-bones options you get lead it to be worse than it looks. My second impression, I'm much more negative of it now. Just the lack of 3DS titles is a massive misstep for me, the 3DS is my favourite console and one of Nintendo's most beloved and underrated, for it and the Wii U to not even be featured on the service, that hurts. You can tell this will be even more dripfeed like everything else that relies on Switch Online, like their poor Switch emulators or the Mario Kart Pass that took a full year just to be completed. Apparently people really wanted this, and I don't quite get it. Nintendo music was always accessible on UA-cam, or at least has been for quite some time thanks to channels like SilvaGunner. Trustworthy websites like UA-cam to MP3 allow you to download these uploads to your computer and use Nintendo music how you please. This was not necessary. The exclusion of a free version with ads also seems like a big missed potential from Nintendo. Being required to pay for the app just doesn't seem right, if you don't have Switch Online but want to listen to Nintendo music from an official source, you should be able to do it for free, if you have to endure a few ads here and there.
a couple of things. 1. youtube on mobile drains your battery really bad. even with the screen off it still doesn't handle very well. 2. you still need youtube premium to turn your screen off or do PiP, which is more expensive. given that this is a bonus on another service and not a paid app, I deem it fine.
I agree, but Nintendo won't do ads, as their main target audience are 5-13 year olds. And they don't want to have controversies for advertising weird or problematic stuff to kids. Probably the same reason why the switch no longer has a browser = targeting parents by saying their products are safe. I'm not saying that Nintendos pov makes sense or that this is 100% their reason for this but it definitely feels like that to me
There is actually an app dedicated to They Might Be Giants music which goes through a small rotation of their songs and solo project songs that changes each day.
@@Leeloo-Foxxwell, kinda. There's a resurgence for demand in CD, cassette and Vinyl, although within niche communities. Heck, even Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, an album from the band Tally Hall is still being sold in CDs and Vinyls last time I checked
There's a lot a music, even video game music that you could find on cds, Casettes, vinyls etc. Personally, I prefer to have the music that I care about physically then having on a digital platform like UA-cam where it could be deleted, copyright strike etc. Everyone does whatever they want to, I'm not in charged in anyone 👍
since it's the base NSO subscription and not the premium ones, I'm ok with it, and it's not too too bad. It makes sense not to be fully free, Ninty music is valuable it would be perhaps smarter if anyone could download, with a few sample tracks from various games to get ppl going and hooked on it, and then require the bulk of the music to be subscription only
20 a year is practically nothing though, and if you already have the online service for the switch it's like, free advantages for cheap, I don't see pricing as an issue honestly, 20 a year is already cheaper than basically every premium service there is, and if I want to listen to nintendo musics ad free I prefer having online on my switch than having to pay 10 a month for youtube or spotify.
They're using it as a means to strengthen the value of a NSO subscription. They aren't going to unload everything they have because for whatever reason, they think a slow and unorganized rollout of content is the best way to keep users engaged. If they legitimately expected people to pay for this app outside of NSO it would be more robust. Well, maybe.
It’s more of a thing for on the go stuff. You can’t do that on UA-cam unless you wanna pay 20 bucks a month. It’s weird to say, but I guess it’s not for you.

you could try just recording them with a screen recorder. turn on the screen recorder, hit play on the song, wait till the song finishes, end recording
320kbps audio playback is not studio quality. The CD release of the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack ranges from around 400kbps on the low end, to around 950kpbs on the high end. That's a studio quality release. Basically, even if they pulled from the highest quality studio recordings of these tracks, its not what you're getting.
@@lunalghtbetter yet you can rip the audio with audacity. Yes its that easy as nintendo forgot widevine still lets you listen to audio if you plug it into a pc. Though your likely only getting stereo anyways as the setup doesnt allow for dd+
Honestly, my only gripe, is that they don't even have the full Splatoon 3 OST. The OST on the app only goes up to circa March 2023, so the new Turf War tracks, Splatfest Music, Grand Fest Music, and Side Order OST are all missing, which makes no sense. So hopefully one day they have the entire OST available, also I hope they add Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 1's OST, and if they can do the Wii's UI Music, THEY HAVE TOO add the Wii U and 3DS UI music, since those consoles had the best UI and personality out of any Nintendo console.
From what folks have theorized, 3's missing music is most likely because the Ordertune CD hasn't been released yet, and having those songs already available on the app could potentially affect sales of the CD, even if it's Japan-only
@@OriginalGameteer thats pretty stupid, I mean getting physical music is already a niche thing these days, and Im sure people who want it, will still buy it. But yeah that makes sense.

4:38 So i haven't watched this whole vid yet, but the games listed are games that have had their soundtracks heavily sampled in rap songs from all sorts of eras. As a self-taught music producer, im a bit scared for how Nintendo will handle this app due to the music in it. We've seen how Nintendo handles their ips, so hopefully they arent THAT stingy to the point that labels with have to take down their artists music.
How do they fuck up the library STILL? There's frankly no excuse to not just have every album up to that point just on there. If any added details like the screenshots take time with them, just add THOSE over time. The games on NSO is one thing, but these are just audio files. We should expect their "adding stuff over time" mentality to only be for newer games. Just, why?
they added Mario Wonder today, so i gotta wonder how frequently they plan on updating the app Course, the lack of composer credits is a GLARING omission
I had so little faith in Nintendo that even something this lackluster was a surprise. But… yeah it’s still lackluster. I know it just came out but that few games is really dumb as a launch. I was personally pretty disappointed that Splatoon 3 doesn’t even have any of the music added after the Splatune 3 soundtrack release. Why???? It’s in the game why is it not on the app? (Not to mention that the app keeps just stopping letting the music play and you have to restart it) It’s neat but just use UA-cam music you can upload whatever music you want
As someone who loves video game music (including Nintendo music) this announcement was very insulting for me . I have hoped as everyone else that they would release their music officially to the public as other comampanies have been doing for years so that there would be no need for other channels uploading their music and risk getting a strike. But this is the worst way they could have done this in my eyes. Of course Nintendo had to be Nintendo and had to make their own app for their music so they could control how you listen to them. You are not allowed to listen to Nintendo music with music from other games, artists or bands. I hate the idea that it has to be its own separate thing and that you actively have to choose whether you listen to "normal music" or Nintendo music. On top of that comes the fact that only NSO members can use this service. Which effectively makes it to everyone who doesn't own a Switch impossible or very inconvenient to legally listen to their music. Which is baffling to me. Music should be accessible to everyone. They made this service in the first place to add value to NSO. If they treat this service like the NSO games it will probably take an entire console generation to have an acceptable library of their songs as they will probably drip feed the OSTs to us. Also I heard from other comments that the composers aren't even credited which I find very disrespectful. I guess it's the same reason why Nintendo doesn't want us to know who the developers of certain games are until they are released. They want everything to fall under the Nintendo umbrella. I find this behaviour detrimental for the companies making the games as I don' t think they get enough credit. It's as bad if not even worse for composers. Even most unofficial channels had the decency to credit the composers. In the best case scenario Nintendo would have provided their music on all the established services (UA-cam, Spotify, etc.) and released them in physical formats that everyone could buy. I fear that Nintendo will try to take down even more music from UA-cam as they now have an actual reason for it. As someone who has cherished their music for his whole life this just sucks. Anyway thank you for taking the time to hear my opinion. I'm just very frustrated with a lot of decisions Nintendo is making.
NSO games have gotten better with releases It’s for longevity even if people leave they’ll always come back when their favorite tracks are added also they can coincide with new game releases Also there’s like 4000 songs on the app that’s a lot No one will run out lol
While the app icon is pretty basic, I think it's trying to reference the note blocks from mario, since a simple note on the square icon, just with the nintendo's branding colors.
Nintendo could've dropped 100 soundtracks and it still would've left tons to add later. This just feels like a stingy lineup two executives agreed upon that only exists so Nintendo can start being more stringent about UA-cam channels that do Nintendo OSTs
The most disappointing part about the Nintendo Music App trailer? Nintendo taunt us by put under our nose a Star Fox video game among the music who are release with the fact, by doing that, they know it's still empty on the Nintendo Switch for any new fresh game, remaster game or port about the Star Fox serie but they still do nothing about it as they seem more focus about the same cash grab franchise who are announce and released every years since 7 years such more than 10 Mario and Pokemon games, 7 Zelda games, 6 Kirby and 4 Fire Emblem game while they don't care about Star Fox, F-Zero, Kid Icarus and Tomodachi game who don't have any new game and give less attention about Metroid who have just 3 games, Donkey Kong Country who have just 2 old video game port but nothing new and fresh yet and more. No longer wonder why, rumour or not, the next Nintendo console will be a failure when Nintendo will announce something official about it. What the point to buy a expensive console just for play mainly Mario, Pokemon and Zelda games every years while they put the others Nintendo franchise far away in the closet and the paying online who don't have anything special?
A few things I noticed playing around in the app: - You can have a max of 2000 songs in your Favorites playlist. However, as far as I know, you can have infinite playlists. - In the OoT soundtrack, they don't have the full version of the Fire Temple theme. This makes it a strange yet conscious choice to not include the actual chorus of even the "fixed" version from later N64 cartridges and the 3DS remake. - Regarding the songs with the ability to be extended, the ones that don't have that feature are largely songs used in cutscenes, as they're only meant to be played once. HOWEVER, I noticed that the entire Scarlet/Violet soundtrack DOES NOT have this feature, even for looping songs such as battle themes. Again, this was a conscious choice by someone (I'm guessing Game Freak or TPC) to omit this feature. Why, I have no idea.
It has wii music (if ur referring to the wii channel themes) and in general there's mario galaxy and we are getting wii sports and skyward sword. but honestly unless they keep adding more at a consistant rate thats all we got

Y’all I know it ain’t perfect but I personally have wanted this for the past 7 years now. Yes it still needs work. But the fact that there is finally a dedicated library (and preservation!) of Nintendo music is so huge. I’m so happy for the next generation of Nintendo kids who get to grow up using it, because it’s something I always wish I had. I’ve found my own ways to access Nintendo’s music library, but it’s very tedious. Yes you can use youtube, but many get stricken down. There’s never a worse feeling than spending hours building the perfect playlist and then waking up to a bunch of deleted videos the next day. I’m buying into a subscription now (also bc I’ll be buying it for Xenoblade X later anyway) to show nintendo that I’m interested in it. A spike in subscription purchase following an announcement are the analytics they’ll be looking at to gauge how much they’ll continue to add to the service. I understand that it’s corporation bootlicker mentality, but I’m personally willing to pay it forward for the next generation. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please consider this viewpoint before making the decision to support the service or not.
Welp The app is new, they put just a part of all The catalogue to SEE if The app works or not, if in a Month we don't have 12 new games whit their music on app is time to actually start a heavy criticism
To be fair, Nintendo has to take the in game music from their proprietary formats and convert them to a hi quality format that phone can understand. Also the Switch Online Games has to have the emulator tweaked to fit each game and play test and it being the reason why they only release a small number at a time
Nintendo does seem to be adding music relatively frequently. We've already gotten 2 new games added (although those were probably just not finished in time for release)
My main complaint is that my 2 favorite breath of the wild songs are gerudo town (night) and Zora’s domain (night). I get excluding Zora’s domain as it’s just a the same song with different instruments but gerudo town has a completely different night theme and it’s so much better
@@madnessarcade7447the point of a music app is to be a convenient place to listen to ALL the music you already like. You'd think they would actually do a much better job with adding more soundtracks but I guess they just want to slowly put them in there like they did with the retro games on switch.
Honestly, it's great that it even exists where we can officially listen to music. Can't be disappointed when it just came out of nowhere. Its great honestly
i agree as this is personally the best way for me to listen to the music on my phone and also the release schedule doesn't seem TOO bad... we got mario wonder and dkc2 in the first week so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
They literally added Mario Wonder music less than an hour ago. That wasn't even teased in the trailer like Mario 64, Splatoon 2 or Wind Waker. Maybe these dripfeeds are going to be more frequent.
Fair criticisms but people have hated that they don’t have music anywhere else but we have it so can people just be happy with what we have right now? there adding more later anyways
Me personally, I like having fewer options to choose from but they missed so many of their good soundtracks! They better add Wii Sports soon and all the other Mario games. How could they leave out so much from the GameCube? That was such a great console!
They haven't sold me, that's for certain. I'm keeping my SPCs, NSFs and OGGs that I converted from BRSTMs. In the case of the latter, the converter I used sets loop tags so I can get **perpetual** looping (rather than just 30 minute or hour extensions) without needing to increase the filesize just by changing the file extension to .logg and having it run through vgmstream.
If Nintendo really wants to get behind this, then I really hope they release Twilight Princess OST, the various Zelda Symphonies. As well as Splatoon and Splatoon 2. So much amazing music but they will probably drip feed us like NSO.
I personally prefer Sega and Capcom soundtracks anyways, so I don't care about this release. I just wouldn't want this to become a trend with other gaming companies solely releasing their music on streaming platforms.
Nintendo music is not free as switch online is twenty USD a year or four USD a month and how many are just going to purchase switch online for Nintendo music alone?
I think the worst part is that there is a lack of songs that should be here. Splatoon is missing a LOT of it's in game artists like Off the Hook and from what I can tell other Splatoon 2 music. It's shocking how little there is
I think its okay, its just another feature if you already have nintendo online subscription I don’t think people would get the subscription just because of the app though in its current state. Plus they will add more games later on.
I think that copyright and licensing are the biggest obstacle to adding to the platform. Additionally, streaming services don't pay their artists enough. It's funny to me because streaming as a new form of technology was marketed as more convenient... But now, it's nearly impossible to put all your music in one place, like a drawer full of CDs. It does beg the question why they didn't release it with a larger library. If they want to make this an NSO selling point, they'd have to make it more worthwhile than just listening to Nintendo music on UA-cam.
considering I have half a gig of only splatoon music I guess I kinda understand why they might be seemingly slow rn, but I'd give them some trust for now.
I was actually surprised they got with this music player. It looks like a copy of Spotify. The song selections are still a bit limited. I was actually surprised it was doing a lot of things right at the same time. The nintendo wii channels even has some songs that were not ripped or released. I hope that this is still a MVP version. I hope some features that you can not find in Spotify because they are related to video game will be added, like being able to add controls to play layered, dynamic music or set up the looping point count (most video game music is looped twice and then a 10 second fade out.
It’s so wild to me that they have the GALL to say “we made a music app!!! Listen to your favorite tunes!!” Then only put the current and mainstream classics like if you’re going to make a music platform for your music and your music only, shouldn’t you, I don’t know, put all of your music on there? All I’m saying is I think other games that aren’t the same five Nintendo online classics are important and deserve focus (cough cough RHYTHM HEAVEN cough cough)

That's what I was saying!

That sounds like tears of the kingdom. Tears of the fans.
You sound delusional
But still, even if it makes sense *FOR NINTENDO*, they're one of the biggest game companies out there, they have no excuse to release apps like this unfinished.
SiIvaGunner only posts high quality rips. GiIvaSunner is no longer with us 😢
I agree, but Nintendo won't do ads, as their main target audience are 5-13 year olds. And they don't want to have controversies for advertising weird or problematic stuff to kids. Probably the same reason why the switch no longer has a browser = targeting parents by saying their products are safe.

it would be perhaps smarter if anyone could download, with a few sample tracks from various games to get ppl going and hooked on it, and then require the bulk of the music to be subscription only
20 a year is practically nothing though, and if you already have the online service for the switch it's like, free advantages for cheap, I don't see pricing as an issue honestly, 20 a year is already cheaper than basically every premium service there is, and if I want to listen to nintendo musics ad free I prefer having online on my switch than having to pay 10 a month for youtube or spotify.

It’s neat but just use UA-cam music you can upload whatever music you want
also i don't know why but the splatoon 3 library is missing frostyfest, finalfest and grandfest ost
TLDR.
Stop being so whiny.

If someone wants to know so bad they can google it
While the app icon is pretty basic, I think it's trying to reference the note blocks from mario, since a simple note on the square icon, just with the nintendo's branding colors.
Nintendo could've dropped 100 soundtracks and it still would've left tons to add later. This just feels like a stingy lineup two executives agreed upon that only exists so Nintendo can start being more stringent about UA-cam channels that do Nintendo OSTs

A few things I noticed playing around in the app:
- You can have a max of 2000 songs in your Favorites playlist.
The biggest crime of the selection at launch is not having Wii Music.
Missed opportunity right there.
It has wii music (if ur referring to the wii channel themes) and in general there's mario galaxy and we are getting wii sports and skyward sword. but honestly unless they keep adding more at a consistant rate thats all we got
@@bitcrushed-thing I'm referring to Wii Music. A Game for the Nintendo Wii all about, well, music. Surprised that the one Game focused on music isn't there on launch day for this App.
@@blockeontheleafeon oh yeah i tend to forget that exists lol. if they rlly care about smaller titles then maybe it'll appear one day
@@bitcrushed-thing Yeah. Only time will tell.
I WAS HOPING FOR MORE SONGS :( I HOPE THEY ADD MORE GAMES SOON
i hope hotel mario ost will be there
Complaining for the sake of complaining, pipe down
i saw that the splatoon playlist has only 33 tracks and i was like What Are They Supressing From The Public
To be fair, Nintendo has to take the in game music from their proprietary formats and convert them to a hi quality format that phone can understand. Also the Switch Online Games has to have the emulator tweaked to fit each game and play test and it being the reason why they only release a small number at a time
I saw the notification on my phone for the announcement of Nintendo Music and my first thought was that the songs were already on UA-cam
Nintendo does seem to be adding music relatively frequently. We've already gotten 2 new games added (although those were probably just not finished in time for release)
The fact that Splatoon 1 isn't on here is a crime
My main complaint is that my 2 favorite breath of the wild songs are gerudo town (night) and Zora’s domain (night). I get excluding Zora’s domain as it’s just a the same song with different instruments but gerudo town has a completely different night theme and it’s so much better
I downloaded it, searched xenoblade and got no result. Immediate 0/10
Not enough water 0/10 -ign
Patience
@@madnessarcade7447the point of a music app is to be a convenient place to listen to ALL the music you already like. No sane person is going to wait months to listen to a track they like on a specific platform, they’ll just go somewhere else to get immediately access (Ex: UA-cam, Spotify, SoundCloud, etc)
@@madnessarcade7447 Quiet. "pAtIEnCe" doesn't apply here when I could simply UA-cam search the song I want. No patience required, no excuse either because this is an app on a versatile device where I can simply go elsewhere, I can understand "patience" for the NSO games because there's no alternative on the switch if you want to play a game that's yet to be added.
Could be that they dont have the rights? I bought all of them on CD.
I wanted to listen to the og Splatoon 2 Splatfest Plaza music but it’s not on here😭
You'd think they would actually do a much better job with adding more soundtracks but I guess they just want to slowly put them in there like they did with the retro games on switch.
I need my Nintendo moblie game section and wii u section
They literally added Mario Wonder music less than an hour ago. That wasn't even teased in the trailer like Mario 64, Splatoon 2 or Wind Waker.
Maybe these dripfeeds are going to be more frequent.
I got the app to listen to Blitz it from splatoon 2... You can only guess what I found out
They didn’t even add a Wii U soundtrack Nintendo land and the Wii U menu will be amazing for the app
Fair criticisms but people have hated that they don’t have music anywhere else but we have it so can people just be happy with what we have right now?
there adding more later anyways
i’m interested to see how often they will be adding games, cause we already have Super Mario Wonder added to it a day after it has released
Feels sad to know one of my favourite game osts will probably never go on there cause it hardly sold (ever oasis)
no side order? (insert megamind image here)
Me being the one person who actually looked at it and said "Yep. That's all I need"
If Nintendo really wants to get behind this, then I really hope they release Twilight Princess OST, the various Zelda Symphonies. As well as Splatoon and Splatoon 2. So much amazing music but they will probably drip feed us like NSO.
"Yo dude these songs from Sonic frontiers are lit! Especially Find your flame! Anyways what you listening to?"
"Yoshi album."
I personally prefer Sega and Capcom soundtracks anyways, so I don't care about this release. I just wouldn't want this to become a trend with other gaming companies solely releasing their music on streaming platforms.
And to use it, YOU NEED A NINTENDO ONLINE MEMBERSHIP
The App is also not giving any credits to any of the composers or what version it is.
I just hope they keep adding more music
