- Young Bob is back, and there's no better way to put him to the test than to act like a student pilot and make exaggerated mistakes to show him what his life is going to be like for years to come! This is one of my favourite type of flights and I hope you enjoy the chaos!

UPDATE: Young Bob passed his CFI checkride and is now ready to teach the next generation of pilots! Congratulations!
What a journey it’s been! Proud to say I’m a CFI now! Can’t wait to make some mini young bobs haha
Congrats young Bob.
Congratulations! What a laugh you two are.
Congratulations to young Bob!
@@conraddawson3956 Congratulations Young Bob!
I just got my CFI yesterday! Anyways, that part where LewDix was holding the controls with that death grip had me dying. I like y’all’s content! 🤣
When the instructor says “you did good”… you didn’t. I was rolling! Fun video!
that horizon changes in the right seat.
Can you guys put all your CFI videos into a playlist? I think it could be convenient for the next CFI trainees checking out the channel.
What a great video. I loved flight lessons with my instructor so much. Had a blast every second!
video has given me great insight just like all the videos you make!!. Finalizing the end of my instructor rating here in Canada, trying to remain calm and collected for the pre-flight test. Awesome Lewdix!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching my friend!
As someone who instructed with the “part 61 that feels a lot like 141” company for a long time, my advice to Bob is congrats, now run the other way as fast as you can and do not ever look back.
Best advice anyone has ever given him 😂
Awesome, getting my CFI rating next year... This video is really motivating.
Congratulations Conrad!
Just want to say thanks! Passed my CFI Initial first try and your vids were a huge help 😁
That's incredible! Congratulations! So glad to be of help.
Congrats Young Bob on your ticket. If you ever want to move up to the Boston area, you'll definitely have one guaranteed student 😉
That was hilarious and informative. Great job Bob lad!
Thanks!
You guys rock! Laughed so hard! Very educational!!
Glad you liked it!
Great video. Very entertaining and I think I even picked up on a couple of things that I still do wrong and I’m a ppl holder. Congrats to young bob. You’ll make an excellent instructor. 👍
Sweet!
Great stuff
This was a really fun flight. Recently started instructing myself, albeit as a CRI with qualified pilots, but what an interesting job it is! Lovely to see your positivity and encouragement as always Lew.
It’s certainly different from just flying yourself and family around isn’t it Jon? It’s a whole new world! Don’t let them try and kill you! The world needs The Flying Reporter!
Wow. Love the Go pro mount. Super smart.
It's a great product! Love MyPilotPro!
King Bob 👑
OMG I was LMAO! I am about to do first CFI candidate. I sent him this video and told him I can’t wait to be a student again. 😂😂😂😁
Awesome work! Keep it up… P.S. Congrats on your CFI rating Conrad!
I think my performance was worthy of a student pilot cert!
@@LewDixAviation you get an Oscar nomination for “Best Supporting Actor”.
"That's a nice lake" 😂
Watching Lewdix try not to laugh at 15:00 made it 10x funnier😂
😂 it was tough!
That amazing old BGSU Cessna
So amazing that BGSU got rid of it 👀
This may be your funniest video of all time 😂
😂 thank you!
Unreal video Lew. Hey question. Im a CFI in australia and thinking of moving to the states to instruct. Hows the market over there?
Good flying Lewis. One day you too will have good piloting skills.. hahahah
I doubt it 🫣
🤣🤣🤣 Not sure if I was this bad on my first few lessons but this was hilarious nonetheless!!!
HAHAHA My CFI is in for it tomorrow lol
Give em hell!
Congrats young Bob. You’re a chip off the instructor’s block.
Oh boy, do I really want to do this to myself is the question I have after watching. 😅
😂
Young Bob!!!! Lew, I have been recording my flight lessons. Holy shit they take up a lot of space. Show your video editing setup when you get a chance. Thank you, sir.
They do take up a lot of space!
Student pilot here on schedule for my first solo on Thursday. Love your videos! Could you share your GoPro camera settings for your external views? What frame rates?
2.7k at 30fps, wide angle. I set them and forget them. If they fail, they fail.
me not acknowledging to switch fuel tanks in a timely matter. getting too close to restricted areas. not repeating what is told to me by tower. I gotta lot of work. maintaining altitude another.
I had flying lessons from age 12-16, once every fortnight at the weekends. My first instructor was not very trusting. But as somebody now in my 30s, ffs if I was an instructor I would not want to be teaching a 12 year old whose version of VFR is staring blankly at the attitude indicator!
As an aspiring pilot and hopefully CFI in the future, I'm a bit confused by this...while I understand the wild scenarios may help if they encounter that one terrible student, wouldn't it help more to teach more realistic scenarios?
(I rewrote this like 3 times trying to make it not sound like I'm criticizing you but it still kinda does so I apologize if it comes across like that...I'm just genuinely curious)
Haha no problem. They actually aren’t so wild. While exaggerated a little these scenarios are ones that I’ve encountered many a time. I’ve had students do all sorts of things, including freezing up and not letting go of the controls. CFI’s must be prepared for literally anything. They are the only safety net.
I haven't seen the Cherokee in a minute.. where is it??
😬 no longer around. I’m very sad about it.
Poor N32042 impacted a forklift :(
What percentage of students do you get do things like this? Is it most or is the student role you're playing rare but something that a CFI has to be able to handle?
While some things are slightly exaggerated, each thing I’ve seen nearly all students do. There are exceptions though.
I would have a word with my instructors if i knew they were doing stalls at 2000 feet. I know you only lose 300 in a 172 but can lose 700 or more in a Tomahawk and might need 3000 from a spin.
How does a UK pilot get a flying gig in the US?
What did we learn today? It is necessary to hit your student once in a while. 🙂
Do you guys not teach APT PAT?
I don’t mention any acronym but yes, as a flight instructor teaching the fundamentals is important. So much so that it’s the first lesson when a new student starts.
…so funny
Now, how do you instruct a flight-instructor instructor?
