Practicing Flight Instruction| CFI Training

- Join Anthony and I as we go up to practice some instruction. Anthony is an aspiring CFI and a major part of training is practicing verbalizing what you are teaching in the aircraft.
I acted like a student as much as I could and made some common mistakes that I see my own students making.
Of course we had some fun along the way too!
Enjoy the flight!

This video actually is A1. Not a lot of people will post videos on instructor training flights.
Also, I approve of these flap extensions. Seems like Ant has whipped you into shape
~12 hour PPL student here. This is easily my new favorite aviation channel. I'm glad I found it.
pacadet I’m glad you found the channel too! Welcome!
I did my IR and CPL with Anthony... he’s a really good guy and instructor!
You absolutely nailed it! Over controlling on final and screams in the flare - laughed my butt off.
Ministry Of Twang hahaha it’s true! Happens all the time
Excellent practical insight for any CFI-to-be, delivered with a splash of humor! Great upload!
Windtee thanks Bryan! Wing rockin hello to you!
I have a big smile throughout this whole film. The perfect LEWDIX film.
The Flying Reporter hahaha Thanks Jon. You’ve put a big smile on my face now too!
Love these CFI training videos, it's helping me widen my CFI training horizon, keep 'em coming!
Excellent! Just starting to work on my CFI now --- this is exactly the kind of stuff that helps someone understand how the learning process and the teaching process go hand in hand.....
Student LewDix is probably my favorite.
Great way to end a weekend by watching a Lew Dix video. We need to always learn and laugh when aviating !
David Tesch nice one David! Glad I could bring you some joy!
oh my god adding in a "little" bit of power, that was gold
Absolutely brilliant video. Very interesting as I am training for FI as well, very helpful watching videos like these. Keep it up man!
Your videos are probably the most instructional I watch. I love the back and forth. Can you comment on what you are doing with rudders in landing
Amazing video dude. Going up for my first CFI job and there was some gold in this!
You are quite the student Lew! Keep em coming!
I love this video! You make flying fun. If you didn't mention that your CFI student was in the right seat at the beginning I'd say he was a veteran CFI. He will be (probably is a flight instructor by now since this was made in July 7, 2018) an excellent flight instructor. That is what I want to be when I get to that point. Thank you for the video. This is a great learning tool for CFI students and also future CFIs. It looks like you have fun training. That's what I been doing wrong since I started flying since 1998. This video has made me want to change my approach on how I train myself (and my future students), making it very very fun!! Again, thank you for posting this video. This is great for future CFIs.
Awesome video!
Definitely keep these coming man
I love it, Please do more
Brilliant. What a laugh that was! Good to see you again.
Darren Hillman thanks Darren!
It’s good to do the final checklist bf4 touch and go , really fun flight 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼
Learned so much from this vid...thanks!!!!
Terrance Brown nice! I’m glad!
omg....that was so funny. I had to laugh so hard at the landing :)))))
but there was a big mistake at 2:46...... NO WELCOME TO THE SKYS ;)
Jaguar79gt hahaha maaaan I’m gonna have to redo the video 😂
Passed my cfi checkride yesterday first try. Managed to pass ppl, ifr, cpl, and cfi first time. Never thought I could do it tbh.
HA! Anthony flies at my flight school!. Didn't know he was this good of a pilot. Does he have his CPL yet?
more of this please
Hilarious! Yet very informative. Awesome video as always.
Ethan D Smyth thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it
Lol final aaa aaaaa aaaaaaaaa good job. Nice vid going for my private doing my cross country from KISP to KGON at 7:00pm tonight
That was fun!!
Would totally come to Orlando to do PPL training with you! Great channel
Great video Lew. Try to come to UK to give my a flight lesson
Also would like to see you teach lazy 8s and Chandelles!!
Props for the Bongo Song! What a classic
jakesknolleus haha my friend challenged me to get it in there.. Mission complete
i am cracking up do more of these xD
Nice! Greetings from Argentina
Augusto Welcome to the channel man
I have some 536hf time in my book! Great bird.
Oh man! You gave me a good laugh here 😆🤣😂
Good tune added it made the video
Sam Tustin it was a good recommendation.. I always listen to the fans mate
I passed my CPLSE 5-11-2021 and I'm in CFI school now. I'm terrified.
9:55 reminded me of spongebob. "Floor it?" NO! "Floor it!?" NOOO! "FLOORING IT!"
Thanks for that! After 38 years of PPL flying, and MANY CFI's over the years, and with plans to retire from my regular job this year, I'm thinking of becoming a CFI - for no other reason than the love of flying & wanting to pass it along. I wouldn't be a "flight risk" to the airlines - so I figure a flight school somewhere might make use of me. Thanks for the glimpse into what CFI training looks like! Awesome!! Although, I'm a little wary about the likes of the young punk in the left seat. However, the pilot in the right seat was totally reassuring! 😀
I think the FAA need to have words with the guy in the left seat. He seems a bit too confident and need knocking back a few steps hahaha. I'm glad you enjoyed the video though and hope you do go onto your CFI. It's difficult at times but very rewarding.
Haha! The guy in the left seat makes the best aviation content videos! Looking forward to your next video. Major props for what you are doing for young pilots. Keep up the awesome work! ✈
D. Wayne Otto Wow thank you for your words! That means a lot to me. Stay tuned I’ve got 3 videos in the works at the moment!
wow I just realised how complex it is to be a cfi.. but the video was very fun to watch
She must’ve been so confused when the incompetent student came back on with perfect radio skills lol
I think he will make a good instructor
lol such a funny vid! and good, cuz im also training for flight instructor
I would love to be able to come over to Florida from the UK to do my pilot training is there a way I could?
What a stud in the right seat.....
Anthony Scott yea but he can’t fly for sh*t
"50 knots on base"
Anthony Scott I thought base was where you wanted the stall warning blaring?
Base to final to be exact.
Anthony! awesome job man. You're going to kill the CFI training/checkride. Do you have the CPL yet?
Oh! Almost forgot these days you can do CFI in C172 lol
But I’m still sticking with the old arrow in Deland :D
Tim Sun N5347F? I did my CFI in that and couldn’t see over the dash from the right seat. Had to sit on the sign out box haha
LewDix Aviation
Haha! I’m using that too and even I’m 180 cm / 5”10 but still needs a cushion...
but it’s a fun plane compared to c172
I’m starting my FI(A) course soon and wanted to ask about any books you suggest to maximize knowledge?
You might already have these . But, the pilots handbook of aeronautical knowledge, airplane flying handbook, AC 61-65h, .
The screams were priceless lol
You are such a fun instructor! Will you be at Oshkosh?
Malena M. Thank you! Unfortunately not this year 😔
Aw, too bad! I'll have to meet you another time.
Well acting!
After becoming an instructor and flying from the right seat for so long It’s always alien to me to fly on the left side.
Yea until recently I hadn't flown left seat for a while but now that I do more left seat flying it's become natural again
This is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
That was hilarious
Where are you located and how do I become a student of yours? Haha!
Haha Orlando, Florida
What does "airspeed is alive" mean?
Dee Anna means the airspeed needle is active and showing a speed. When at low speeds there’s not enough airflow to cause a reading
Lewdix where are you a CFI out of?
Orlando
Spice World!
Greg A Jurassic Park!
LewDix Aviation cashback! Love a bit of Parto. 3rd series apparently. I'll get one of your t-shirts on order man, support the channel. Videos are class!
Thanks a lot mate I really appreciate it! I'd love to get a shirt to you.. You based in the UK or out here in the US? I can't wait for his 3rd series. Can't beat classic Partridge though
LewDix Aviation UK (Scotland). Currently being bitter about England's run in the world cup. How do I go about ordering?
Greg A ahh North of the border! I’m from Bolton but get asked pretty much daily over here if I’m from Scotland.. So the only problem with shipping overseas is the cost. Send me an email and I can send you better info there: lewdixaviation@gmail.com
The ATC must have been *so* confused. Two voices, one of which is CFI level 50% of the time and first time student the other 50%.
:D:D:D:D
no welcome to the sky? lolll
Lewis, that looked no different from the way you usually fly!!!
He used a lot of abstract words like high and fast. Be more concrete and use actual air speeds and altitudes. Just saying. Good material!
Why would he say “ yah know what? F*** you” even if it’s casual. That’s still unprofessional
Really bad not professional at all
Lol. They're having fun while being safe. That's what matters.
