its a bandaid, I love it! I especially liked the idea of saving old guides that are still reusable from broken rods...nearly threw one out just now. I will be honest I am searching how to replace guides because I have some rods that have completely rusted guides but I love the rods so much.
I love seeing these tips. Sometimes you need a quick fix and don’t want to send your rod out for repair. 👍🏻 Thanks brother.
when you hit Ott in the head I laughed for 5 minutes , great stuff E
Brought 3 rods with me to work today because it’s a slow day and the job I’m on is on a lake, put em in the back of my work van. Go to grab my rods at break time and I’ve got one rod with two busted guide and one with one broken guide. Finna need this video when my repair kit comes tmrw !!
Good to know I’m not the only one who does it like this. And you are so rite, it definitely works.
Oh my! I get it Edwin, it gets it done but as a custom rod builder I had to laugh. I do rod repair and replace a guide for about $10. If you want it to look near new, look up a local rod builder. 😁
Thanks, E! I'm making ice fishing rods out of my broken rods and never thought to reuse old guides!
That's some good tips E2! Now I'll have to go and take all the guides off my broken rods
thanks for the tip, no more trashing broken rods !
Love how you do stuff the simple easy way. The "poor man's" way if you will. Quick easy and doesn't cost much. Love the videos thank you!
Just try to get it done ✅
That's amazing !. Will start keeping guides when getting rid of broken rods ! Thanks E!!
Great tip and tutorial. Definitely going to use this in the future. Functionality is key for me.
Thank you putting it out.
Thanks for basic, workable, solutions. So many of the other things on the Internet require special tools and set ups for your rod to roll, etc. This is good information. Thanks.
I bought some rods recently that were used and I was having some trouble with the guides, this will help me a lot! Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving!
That's the way I've been doing it forever now! That sweet!
Thanks for the tip. I also fix mine the same way. Its functional.have a blessed Thanksgiving.
I have guides that break every year. Thanks for sharing this alternative!
Nice! That rod you borrowed the guide from sure looks a lot like the rod you broke setting the hook on that bass when Jordan and I were fishing with you😂
Ah yes, the "field expedient" method. That's exactly what I was looking for. If it's good enough for Edwin Evers, it's good enough for me. Thanks!
It works every time!
Thank you for another good video. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I also use the same gel. I even have used that gel super glue to glue eyes back into guides that have popped out. It works, and your back up and running in 5 minutes!
Edwin, Awesome quick inexpensive way to fix a guide in a hurry. Unless of course you have a crack in a guide, and then you just have to buy a new guide. LOL really appreciate the tip as it will come in handy. God bless!
Great tip.
That’s exactly what I needed👍
I literally replaced a guide the day before yesterday... your way looks a lot easier than the way I did it. Lol
Again, Thank you for a quick and simple way to repair something. And here we all think ya'll just go buy another rod...Lol
Thanks for the tip just repaired three rods..
Great stuff. Thoughts and prayers, many blessings E.
Thank you and you too!!
Simple enough to do it on the lake imo. And Happy Thanksgiving E2
Thank you! I can definitely use that tip!
Awesome. Glad I could help!
I do pretty much the same thing only I will split a short piece of electric tape and wrap it around the foot of the guide one time, to hold the guide in place to get the thread started. I use sewing thread but I will try braid next time. Thanks for the tip.
Good idea.!
THANK YOU!
Down and dirty gets the job done... I'll do a prettier job if I'm replacing an eye at home, but out on the water, this will do the trick and keep you in action for sure
Very useful information and instructions on how to put a rod back in use and not spend much $ doing so. Thanks.
suoer glue to me is a must have when im out fishing
I have to replace a tip on my first rod. Its not great piece of equipment but its the first so its more sentimental.
Good stuff. Happy Thanksgiving
Thank you Al and to you as well!
Nice! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you and you as well Dennis!
On the plus side...you didn't hook him in the face😁 thanks all the vids this year. Happy thanksgiving
That’s true!! Happy thanksgiving
Good info, Happy Thanksgiving
Thank you John, happy Thanksgiving!
Helps me a lot have about ten rods broke
Yea I got that issue to😂😂😂
Can you make a video about how to put a rod tip back on? I have a lews ultralight combo that I broke the tip off and it is missing about 2-3 inches, but I still have the tip. Thanks.
Can you do a video on how to oil up your bait casting and spinning reels after the rain? Thanks for tip
HAPPY THANKSGIVING .. Good info, thanks. I find myself putting tips on 7' spinning rods that are now 6' 5 1/4" spinning rods. :0)
😂😂😂
Hey man id like to ask your opinion. I'm hoping to purchase a newer boat this coming spring, I've owned ranger ,skeeter, and current boat is also ranger. I like the way these boats set and ride in the water..ive been looking at the nitro boats but know nothing about them or anyone who owns one.. How in your opinion does the Nitro boats compare to ranger and skeeter. These are the 3 im most interesting in.. Thank you
William Otto........Thanks, E2.
I just used this tip to add a hook keeper to a rod that didn't have one.
Final step, try some liquid electrical tape vs super glue. Small dab and spread even with a small brush, no white residue like the super glue leaves.
I’ll try it
What about replacing a double foot guide, do the same thing just on both sides?
This is the story of my life
And Happy Thanksgiving E. Im thankful for your knowledge, still hope we can fish together sometime soon, bring ott, just dont hit him in the head
Edwin, I broke the tip off about 4" below the guide. Would you put a new guide on your rod or just scrap it for parts? It is one of my favorite rods and fairly new. Will it change the action? Was a 7' 4" long.
Me personally I would not use it. Scrap it for guides. That end is the most important
@@EdwinEversfishing thank you. I was wondering how much that would change the action. 🎣🐟
Matt Allen with Tactical Bassin said that you lost .00039's in sensitivity and it's gonna cost you your next PB and a check in the finals....😅🙊
Hey E what about the inner part of the guide? I have one where the guide itself is still intact but the inner smooth part is gone is there a way to fix that or just replace the guide altogether?
I believe those are pressed in and not fixable. I have a couple of rods with that issue I’ll be addressing over the winter
You can try to push it back in but does not work often. Generally have to put a new guide on it
@@EdwinEversfishing thanks for the response! Most appreciated and I’ll do that!
I always have trouble finding the guides?!! Leave a link please!
Mudhole.com carries Fuji guides which most rod manufacturers use. You need to know what model and hole size the guides are.
@@bassassin2ohseven584 thank you!
Please do not use super glue then expect to have that guide replaced properly by a real rod repair person in the future. I've built custom rods for 22 years and have repaired for that long as well. Super glue is a nightmare to get off the rod blank. I love your videos Edwin and I watch nearly all of them with great enthusiasm but I had to stop this one half way through. It was like finger nails scratching on a chalkboard to me.
Thank you for the great videos.... just not this one.
