In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I literally do everything exactly the same. But not by myself. Picking up small things from every UA-cam video I’ve seen on this topic has helped HUGE on the last few years
As usual a great information video. Went down to my boat and turned on my Carbon to follow you guys. Thanks for helping us better our fishing experience. Great job Edwin and Lowrance
Here's a tip for your tips: Lowrance LIve Quick Key -> MAXIMIZE. Set the Maximize function on a Quick Key will allow you to maximize the Active Screen Panel. First press will Full-Screen the active panel, second press will return screen to combo-view. Enjoy
I have a Lowrance Elite FS 9" = I have a problem? I have a hard time seeing the sonar screen while sunny and wareing sunglasses. Any tips? I have to bend down put my face right up to screen while shading area as best I can with my hand. Its like running blind when your driving boat do to not being able to see screen. It's the glare.
Great video. Just downloaded software updates to chip, installing in the morn. Then going back through my settings to match yours. Thanks for content, can’t wait for #2&3.
Just found your channel. Great info to see how much technology has advanced in bass boats. Guess I'm just a caveman with my 2000 nx882 with my HB wide100 in front, a vexilar flasher in the dash, and a tablet for gps. Best of luck to you in the coming season.
Wondering if y’all could go more into maps/chart settings. Been looking for videos to show how to change water levels, and adjust them based on lake levels being drawn up/down... also adding map chips. I have a Gen 3 TI2 with only one SD slot. Idk if I buy a Map Chip, will it alter the current unit setup. I want to get better contour lines than what the unit came with. No clear cut stuff I can’t find online about these 2 questions! Thanks in advance and thank you for the great content! 🇺🇸🤙🏽🎣
I have a Hook2 9 TS, that being said it’s much lower end fish finder but for the life of me I cannot dial it in, I have a new transducer but I can’t make it clean up and really help me differentiate what i’m looking at, that goes for 2D sonar and downscan
Just got my Lowrance Active Target on the boat tried it out today ! Question I have is how is it that you get the Active Target to point toward the direction of the trolling motor is going ! When I move the trolling motor the active target shows opposite direction? Hope this makes since ??
Can you go over how to stop the interference on the front graph from the trolling motor. Mine does good until I run speed above 7. Minn kota ultrex and an elite ti1 9. Appreciate your channel and the tips.
I just made the switch to Lowrance 9TI 2 units , I pick up 2 units and was able to pair them together, Question - I’m using Navionics card on the council unit for the main unit and other one on the bow . The bow unit it will not bring up the Nav card on it just the base map ? Thanks for your help.
There should've been a box that popped up on the bow unit to hit yes or no to read that card on your console unit, I just installed two Elite-9 ti2's as well....maybe go back and link them together again
Great information. I'm looking at this system to have installed on my sun tracker fishin' barge 22 DLX pontoon boat. Question: What type of trolling motors are compatible with this lowrance units.
How do I find my own "Jacob?" Just bought two Elite FS units and an ethernet cable and had Bass Pro Shops install it to share one transducer. The installation manager reported to me that one of the units is defective and won't find the "head unit" as my data source. I need some assistance but the Lowrance website just doesn't have a way to get support.
I've got a HDS Live 7 and some of the features that are described in this video do not apply. I would love to have the time displayed on my HDS Live 7 but cannot because the feature is grayed out.
Even better than RPM would be to have oil pressure on the screen. Oil pressure and temp will be your first indicator of an impending catastrophic failure.
Question. When I'm on my trolling motor and looking at my HDS LIVE trying to cast to a waypoint, my map is constantly spinning. Making it impossible to cast to a specific waypoint. What do I need to fix this ?
The most important part is setting data sources. Why accidently do that off camera? I’ve had nothing but issues with data sources since installing 4 new had live 12’s on my boat over 6 months ago. I get mediocre assistance from Lowrance tech support. I’ve been directed to all kinds of changes in the settings and it still does not work correctly. I wish someone in Lowrance would actually know what to do
Bro all this high tech electronics just to fish let me ask you a big question how did you catch fish before all this technology I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed just saying i know all these electronic components are major advantages in the sport but are we taking away from the sport the one true thing that makes the sport is us the people catching fish and the doing it with our own knowledge just a thought
Someone should start a fishfinder free tournament. I think there would be a lot of interest in it; however, prize money may not be as good because there wouldn't be a many high dollar sponsors.
That need to set your overlays up on every screen is a pain in the butt! At the very least, there should be a setting to show those overlays on every screen!

After watching about 20 videos this is the absolutely most informative. Thanks. Much needed.
I literally do everything exactly the same. But not by myself. Picking up small things from every UA-cam video I’ve seen on this topic has helped HUGE on the last few years
This has been the most helpful video that I have seen. Thanks guys!
As usual a great information video. Went down to my boat and turned on my Carbon to follow you guys. Thanks for helping us better our fishing experience. Great job Edwin and Lowrance
Thank you David!
What an absolutely awesome setup! Love your boat.
So glad I watched this today (while it is storming). I learned so many things that have been confusing me. Thanks Edwin
Here's a tip for your tips: Lowrance LIve Quick Key -> MAXIMIZE.
Set the Maximize function on a Quick Key will allow you to maximize the Active Screen Panel.
First press will Full-Screen the active panel, second press will return screen to combo-view.
Enjoy
Great job guys, really appreciate the depth of your talks.
You bet thank you for watching
That helped a lot as first time Lowrance user. Looking forward to parts 2&3.

They make a box that hides it . Mounts over it . Forget the name though sorry
This is EXACTLY the video I've been needing with my new Live Units!!! Thanks !!!
Great info, I wish we all had a Jacob in our boat for those Help Times…lol!
Haha I wish!!
Great video. Just downloaded software updates to chip, installing in the morn. Then going back through my settings to match yours. Thanks for content, can’t wait for #2&3.
Awesome! Stayed tuned, glad you’re watching willing to learn

Just order 2 HDS Live 9 inches. I can’t wait for them to get in.
Weird timing! Just got my lowrance fs today I was kinda lost on how to set it up! Very helpful thank you
Awesome glad you found this!
I didn't think lowrance had a product expert because there customer service sucks
Got a Lowrance now. Still missing my Garman!
Thanks, Edwin & Jacob! I’m going to purchase a new Hook Reveal TS in the very near future and will be referencing this video for that!
Just got a live 16. Timing for this is perfect!
this is the best video ever thank you for posting it! i never knew i can do all this with my hds live 12
Its all greek to me ,, but it sure was nice watching a smart person doing his thing :-)
Your smart phone, has more functions than this...
What do you add to get the volts, live well temp etc to show on the graph?
I have a Hook2 9 TS, that being said it’s much lower end fish finder but for the life of me I cannot dial it in, I have a new transducer but I can’t make it clean up and really help me differentiate what i’m looking at, that goes for 2D sonar and downscan
Great video. Very helpful for Lowrance users. I also subscribe to the Lowrance channel and this guy does some great videos that are very helpful.
What should the voltage readout say and what should I set the alarm at?
Just got my Lowrance Active Target on the boat tried it out today ! Question I have is how is it that you get the Active Target to point toward the direction of the trolling motor is going ! When I move the trolling motor the active target shows opposite direction? Hope this makes since ??
Thanks Edwin I love your friend and all your videos
Thank you Roslyn!

Thanks for all the information, now lets see if it helps me catch fish!
Absolutely good luck out there!
Guys, Jacob is a GENIUS!! 🤓🤯 What questions do you have for me/him about your Lowrance unit? I’ll do my best to answer them! 👇
What is the Lowrance transducer setting if you are using a Minn Kota Ultrex
Can you get him to discuss mapping or how to set up the overlays for map cards?
Great information. I'm looking at this system to have installed on my sun tracker fishin' barge 22 DLX pontoon boat. Question: What type of trolling motors are compatible with this lowrance units.
... Motorguide. You will need the Gateway cable to connect to the NMEA 2000 backbone. Of course the Lowrance has to be connected to the backbone also.
How do I find my own "Jacob?" Just bought two Elite FS units and an ethernet cable and had Bass Pro Shops install it to share one transducer. The installation manager reported to me that one of the units is defective and won't find the "head unit" as my data source. My HDs 12 doesn’t have sensitivity in the menu on the right of the screen. It just has contrast. How do I add or adjust sensitivity? Thank you
Really enjoyed this one great info.. thanks Edwin..
Absolutely thank you Jamie for watching!
I have a hook 7 im having trouble setting it up. It turn's on but can't get anything to work sonar water temp depth??
Can you run on plain and see depths
Do each of those 12s have they're own transducer?
Whats your favorite mapping chip/s for your lowrance graphs?
Me, I bought navionics
good stuff , I can use a lot of this on my HDS touch screen
Awesome glad I could help!
You left us hanging when can we see part two (2) of setting up your lowrance... LOL
I've got a HDS Live 7 and some of the features that are described in this video do not apply. I would love to have the time displayed on my HDS Live 7 but cannot because the feature is grayed out.
... 5:35 ... Where are you that it is light out at 10:18:47 PM !!?? 😉
Maybe later you show how to change to AM?
good luck this season
Thank you Kevin 🙏
Why 2d sonar instead of down scan?
Great video and tips! Gave me some new ideas
Good stuff E! I have older elite 9 but some things still apply.
Great glad I could help 💪
When is part 2 coming?
Even better than RPM would be to have oil pressure on the screen. Oil pressure and temp will be your first indicator of an impending catastrophic failure.
Simply awesome
Question. When I'm on my trolling motor and looking at my HDS LIVE trying to cast to a waypoint, my map is constantly spinning. Making it impossible to cast to a specific waypoint. What do I need to fix this ?
get a heading sensor. I believe Lowrance calls them a "point one" antenna.
@@derrickhouse7063 I've heard of that. I'll check into it
I love this video and Jacob
Great video helped a lot thank you
Awesome video..thanks
Great video
I love your videos and your friend
Jacob is a genius
Turn off key beeps and LOG YOUR SONAR! Upload to make Genesis maps.

What you have just done should be done by them for all units that they make. Then you could stop and rewind to learn better.

I can afford the new graphs buy can i afford Jacob???😆
I sure would like to ug my hds gen3's for those Lives but $$$$
Trade them in to Russell Marine Products
That need to set your overlays up on every screen is a pain in the butt! At the very least, there should be a setting to show those overlays on every screen!
Saw the title and thought it was gonna tell us to throw the lowrance in the trash and buy a Garmin..
garmin is a great unit and more plug and play but has less features. they are both capable of similar things. really need a degree to operate a furuno
Lowrance is trying really hard to get me to buy a bird or a Garmin
It's actually emberassing to see that a lot of so called pro's know absolutely no shit when it comes to setup their units or how they work! 🙄
SLOW THE FUCK DOWN. Not everyone is a tech person !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
