I like that they reused idle dialogue from Morrowind. “The blue plates are nice, but the brown ones seem to last longer.” It’s a shame that all of that was cut.
I wonder how does the concept of plates lasting longer even works. I have some plates back from the Soviet times, and they are just fine. I mean, the only way the plate can become unusable is when you break it.
@@InsidiousOne Two options: 1: It is a question of material - ceramic, clay, porcelain, brass and steel all have different durability. 2: It is a question of the paint wearing off, not the durability of the plates themselves.
3:57 I find this line to be my most favorite cut dialogue. Him bringing up the destruction of Kvatch in a depressing tone makes you think more about the world and in general immerses you.
I've always been confused with the amount of stuff Bethesda has cut outta their games. I don't know anything about game design really, but it seems pointless to me a lot of the time. Not just the dialogue too. Whenever I play skyrim with mods, the cutting room floor mod is almost as essential as the unofficial patch for me.
Lots of stuff gets cut in games in general. Typically developers have to first come up with an overall draft of what they want to accomplish (a scope, if you will), but then when they have to grind their fists into the stone they find not everything they planned worked out the way they wanted it to so they might have to scale some things back. Either they realize some things were too ambitious, they pushed against a deadline before they could finish up certain things, or the leads changed their minds at some point. The fact that there isn't any *major* content missing from the game is good, as it shows they're at least somewhat professional... although I weep to think of the waste of money all that cut dialogue was.
Considering Oblivion came out in 2006, it was more than likely that they literally couldn't fit all this stuff into the game. For example the Arena questline used to have an Arena in EVERY major city.
I thought the Oblivion guards were hilarious enough already, but their reactions to the beggars just made them even funnier Btw, thanks for compiling all of this. I haven’t found another youtuber who shows all of the cut content in Elder Scrolls games in such a complete and easily watchable format.
This game so magical, but it feels like something you can only play once, because so much of the magic was just seeing how each quest story would unfold.
The Lonely Hearts quest can still be done as an unmarked quest even without modding it back into the game. After hearing the rumor around town you can go through the steps and get the guard and the tavern owner together. There is less dialog involved and I actually think it makes it better because your on a quest that many may not even realize they are on. Also without all the dialog from the tavern owner you have to decide on your own to talk to the guard for her and in the end when you revisit her she thanks you for getting him to visit her.
Oh wow, kinda wish they kept Uriel Septim’s speech, because in the game his death was kind of abrupt. This dialogue and his final words to you make it that much more immersive and somber, cuz you really as a character were beginning to like the guy for saving you from prison and setting you free.
I once started a playthrough and was using the console alot (reviving the emperor after he was killed, messing with assassins etc) and when I finally got to Weynon Priory (my game was completely unmodded not even the fan OR official patches) Jauffre was talking like an Imperial like he is here 8:00. I guess they're placeholder lines?
It's like living Oblivion all over, but better! So cool that we can see this. I wish there were female guards. It would make sense. "I'm so hungry I can eat a Bosmer" and they can say the same thing about you. I love the idle dialogue and I don't understand why they took that out.
Tbh devs made a wise decision changing voice actors for the male Bretons it would have been hard to tell the difference between Imperials and Bretons if they had the same voice actor. (Female Bretons and Imperials still have the same voice can be difficult to tell which race is which sometimes) Oblivion turns 20 years old in 2 years maybe we will get a 20th anniversary addition with some of the cut content added 🤞🤞
I'm against modding Oblivion, because I believe it's perfect the way it is. However, if I were given the chance to replace cut content- like the part where the Emperor tells you to take his hand as you swore an oath, I'd gladly mod that back in! Plus all that idle banter would've been a nice touch to an already magnificent game. :) I'm also really interested in that cut ogre quest. I've always wondered if they put anything in that empty area north of Chorrol. Turns out it was just cut out. Shame, because it really caught my interest.
Yeah I never made videos on everything I found. Some discoveries were to minor to warrant a video. Instead I worked on most of this stuff to restore into my mod.

I’ve never understood why there were basically no yellow team combatants in the bloodworks. The whole arena questline is pretty weird tbh, like why are all these yellow teamers so eager to fight me when I just slaughtered half of their team yesterday?
Exactly. "Originally, there was meant to be an arena in each city. The only two that remain in the game are the Imperial City Arena and the destroyed Kvatch Arena. Lot of it is due to direction or the deadlines approaching
Probably just didn’t have enough time to finish up that content or didn’t think it was important enough to finish.
Either what they said above or it’s also possible it was simply due to memory limitations at the time
