You didn't lie. You are a UA-cam Sailing Superstar.
"UA-cam Sailing Superstar". That fits.
Sounds about right!
I love your videos for a lot of reasons!....One of the best features is that you do NOT dub in unnecessary, loud, obnoxious background music (noise) like a lot of folks so. I like hearing what's going on naturally, and being able to hear your commentary....
I hate that crap too! I'm glad to see someone else thinks the music is too much.
Best of luck on your surgery recovery. Looking forward to some boat repair videos.
It’s too bad I live in California or I would be over there helping you get her in shape. Love the videos!
By far my fav sailing channel.
Hey, Sam!
Best wishes for your surgery recovery!
But don´t forget, there´s a reason, the most cruise boats has there toilets near the center
of the boat! Imagine, you are sitting on the "throne" in heavy weather! 😨😜
What I mean is: I fear, you´ll regret it, if you place your toilet at the bow...
Also I would stay with the conventional bunk! If you fear for a wet bed in heavy weather,
You can put a camping camping mat on top of you bed. And even if your bed is wet already,
you will sleep warm and cozy - no way to compare with a pipe bunk, like in a racer!
Racer use pipe bunks primarily because of there weight, I guess!
The foam mat you can find some times for 5 or 10 bucks in a walmart or any supermarket.
And you don´t have to damage anything! 🛠😉
What you will really need, specially if you want to go to the North sea or Baltic sea
is a good radar, an two way AIS, or, at least, an electric radar reflector!
That dude with the hydraulic trailer is making bank. I might have to consider that as a future job opportunity. And yes Sam, you are a UA-cam sailing superstar.
Was hard to book. He stays very busy!
right after some major surgery back working. Hope you're all healed up.
UA-cam sailing warrior for sure. Always great videos and there is always something to come from them. Well done !!
If more people in the world had your attitude and commitment this world would be an easier place to live.
I might just drop by to see that tractor.
Look forward to your videos every week. Peace !
Well, that video answered alot of questions. Now, you just need to grow 6 arms!
I say it to myself every video, but I wish I was as excited about ANYTHING as you are about sailing. Thanks again for all the inspiration!
You are a true inspiration Sam, I hope to see you sailing for years to come.
Nice setup with shop and boat close. Wish you a speedy recovery!
Great show, I am a cape dory 27 owner Love to volunteer at your shop helping you with your 28
Would love to have you. Shoot me an email at samholmessailing@gmail.com
Awesome and I have a cape dory 27 as well. I am in St Pete FL area. Wish I was able to help. Not this time. Good luck Sam and thanks for the videos.
I used Paul at Triton also. Good company and great pricing.
As someone that suffers from GIS issues (not as bad as yours) I am glad you are doing so well. COngratulations I am very Happy for you!!!!
Sam, when you're putting this back together again in a few months, you'll wanna jump right to here: 1:50
At least he has it on film!
Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy this winter! Good luck, love the videos and your attitude.
Superstar no doubt at all 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I know that I'm late to this post but want to tell you Sam, that I am happy for you to have found a workshop and have all these projects planned for your boat. I'm excited for you. Good luck in your endeavors here.
(now on to your next post) (I'm catching up) LOL
Can you do a video where you lay out the goals for 2021? If you could do a 2020 recap in a video too, that would be really cool.
Who would want to reflect on 2020?
Another great video. Sailing and boat ownership entails a lot of maintenance. Many channels don't bother with the maintenance detail that you do. I never fail to learn something while you work to keep the boat ship shape. Thanks for sharing. Always interesting.
You've come a long way since that first crossing to Hawaii! Good for you, Sam! If your adventures ever take you through Richmond Virginia please let me know.
Love your videos because its all about sailing!
Always So stoked to see you videos.
Awesome! Glad to see you capitalize off your UA-cam fame with the 10% discount. I really enjoy your videos!
Man that sail bag shows the dry rot going in your canvas that salt and sun really takes its toll
💂💂📯VETERAN SCOTS GUARDS...DISABLED ARM CHAIR SAILOR...HI SAM ALL MY SAILING IS DONE THROUGH YOUR GOPRO. I'M BED BOUND 24\7..MY ADVENTURES ARE DONE WITH YOU AND I HOPE YOU WOULD SAY WELCOME ABOARD LEO.💂 AS THEY GIVE ME MUCH JOY YOUR A REAL SUPER STAR SAM ...💂
I just found this channel! I can't wait for these projects! Awesome!
Excellent video! We are all looking forward to see your progress.
Fantastic, Sam! Looking forward to seeing your progress in the months ahead.
"Unfortunately it's really frigid right now"
*stares in Minnesota*
Work never stops . Great job and good luck 👍🍀
Congrats, Dude! Can't wait to see the work done at the end!
Good idea re v berth. We had a withholz departure 35 with tg3 Bluewater cabin arrangement. 2 setees and 2 quarterberths, which one was a double. The forward compartment was all storage and head. Worked great and none of the clutter filled the main salon. I made removable filler pieces so you could remove some gear and put the panels back to have a double berth for guests. Then on trips it would convert back to a storage and head. Looks, like great service in Oriental. Once we male it to nc I probably would haul the boat for storm season and continue south. Was going to haul in Chesapeake, but nc is much warmer. Good luck on all the projects.
I like seeing your sweet Cape Dory 28 on the trailer and en route to your new shop....looking forward to watching you make winter repairs.
Good luck to you Sam, continue to follow on your 'haul out' and health journey.
Great move having your boat next to the workshop! I will be following your journey from Australia 🇦🇺.
So many project ideas. Cool stuff. Thanks for showing your rigging. It's very helpful.
Looking forward to your future videos. Particularly keen to see the Atlantic crossing.
A really good informative video on demast, haul out, and transport of Pickled Herring. Looking forward to watching the refit videos. Thanks Sam!
Keep putting out interesting videos! Your content is well worth the small cost of applause!
Looks like you have great plans and you always manage to get the job done ✅ your attitude is always so positive 😘⛵️⛵️
Should look into a Boom Kicker. They really help to put your boom back into your control without the use of a topping lift or lazy jacks. I single-handed all of the time and it has been such an indispensable piece of equipment on my boat. It's a simple, well-made and rugged device.
I had one on my ranger but haven’t really found a need for it with the topping lift and lazy jack setup on this boat.
You achieved youtube super stardom when you sailed to Hawaii years ago!
Great video as always. Looking forward to the upcoming project videos. Hope you're doing ok health wise. Take care
Really looking forward to refit/build.
I bought my first sailboat, a Pearson 26, from Andy Denmark who at the time owned Sailcraft way back in 1981.
I love everything about this channel. Your life and circumstances are an inspiration to everyone to follow your bliss. Good on you Sam!
This is so cool watching all of this process. Really awesome channel Sam !!!
All the best on your recovery. I’m following your channel closely as I’m doing a complete refit on my 1993 Compac 23/3.
We love the guys at Sailcraft! Also Oriental is one of our favorite spots in the world! Thanks for the Video Sam!!
Many thanks for the videos, your really living the dream :)
Looking forward to your refit videos, great stuff!
Hope all is well after surgery, looks like you have a great plan.
Great to see your work ethic . Lot of work and money to do. Snow flakes were fun.On Layoff right now in jersey. Wish the weather was better for my 30 catalina. Its in the slip waiting for my projects to start. Always good to see your VIDS
I think you got a good deal on the move and haul out, its worth the peace of mind knowing it's done right.
That boat has a soul. Some wear and tear like rest of us, I love the modifications :-) Keep on grinding!
Just bought a very infrequently used Alberg 30 and she sounded like your boat when I tried to get her started. A clean up of the carburetors and some fuel cleaner ...... yeah !!!
Totally love your vids. Keep it it up Sam. All this best with health and your new building. Looks like pretty sweet possibilities. When I sail past NC this September, beers and dinner on me. Look forward to your adventure stories
Great video and looking forward to what you do!
Just got home from Youth and Sam uploaded!!! Double win. :D
Seems like a lot of awesome people in the comments are willing to help! Cool stuff.
Looking forward to seeing the project develop. I’m going to have to do the same soon enough but on a smaller scale.
Fascinating process, It looks like a lot of work for the next few months getting ready for the BIG crossing. Wish I was closer I would love to be able to help you with the projects, Help for you and education for me. Best to you Rob
Wish I was on the East coast and could help out, looks like a fun project!
Thanks for the video Sam. Just a suggestion to stop the cable slap in the mast. The inside of your mast may be different. I took light duty pvc and sawed a slot straight down its length and slid the slot on the inside. The cables were run inside the tubing as it was installed. It will take more than one 20 ft piece of pvc. but it keeps everything in its place inside the mast and no rattle or slapping. Hope it works for you. Worked great for me. No slap sure makes things so much better.
We used to tied a line around the halyards and secure them to a stay to prevent them from slapping.
Great Vid Sam. Best wishes for the refit 👍😊
Youre a genuine lad, Subbed from the UK 👍👍👍
Nice work on buying the shop... great move for where you are at right now!
Best of luck with the Doctors, Sam!
Sailcraft is awesome. Great folks
Always thinking out your problems! All the things I've seen you do and figure out is amazing💯from building dinghy's to fabricating things you need,💯Most if all , sailing across the ocean in a 28ft sailboat alone 👍 I used to get nervous as a kid sailing to Nantucket 💯in a 27ft Catalina! Thank you Sam for sharing! 💯You have no idea how you inspired me to live again💯👍🙏🙏
Omg...excellent episode. Well narrated. Thanks Sam for walking us through that. That was very interesting. Not bad for $1100 or something. Anyways glad your health is good. Can’t wait for your Atlantic Crossing. See ya brother.
Really looking forward to seeing the refit
Sweet! Good stuff about to come.
Nice videos! I look forward to seeing hiw the projects turn out.
13:47 That is one spectacular sunset. Looks like you have a fine place to hang your hat for a few months & a fun project with the boat. 😎
Dam that has to be SO EXCITING lol, I remember having my little 26ft out front of my house to work on it was a insanely awesome feeling to work on it so easily. Good luck friend! take care and get better!
Sam I hope your surgery went well and heals good were it does not bother you. Having your boat next the shop is great. The cost may be better the paying the yard to having to be on the hard and their electricity and your traveling back and forth. All your tools are in shop and your more motivated as the boat is right beside you. In bad weather and cold you have shelter. Best wishes on the projects.
so stoked for the project videos.
Yours is my favorite thumbnail!
exciting stuff - well done to you
When you douse a head sail, pull down from as far forward as possible- it's easier and better for the luff tape. Remember it's a triangle, so as it comes down it goes forward and when you pull on the leach you are pulling it aft. On big race boats it used to be a thing (bowman hauls down from the stem, mid-deck gang's job to collect it and nobody tries to pull DOWN at all because that just slows the drop)
This is so cool!
Hi Sam. Love your videos.
I believe your Windpilot was a great deal and it should be capable of much better steering than the "S" curve you are seeing. I do not believe it is oversteering. I think it is not responsive enough to "check" the rotating inertia of the boat as it comes back on course. I believe one major contribution to this unresponsiveness is the backwards slant of the paddle necessary to clear your swim platform. This backward slant makes the paddle very hard to be rotated by the vane (as evidenced by the bent pushrod you suffered). The closer the paddle is to vertical, the more balanced it will be and the easier the vane can rotate it.
Interesting to see you de-rig your boat. Smart choice to use an outhauler with a crane. You've got alot of work/projects to do but I'm sure you'll know your boat inside & out when you're finished. Thanks for vid.
You had me hooked on your adventures.out thier at sea .
Thats awesome man! Can't wait to see the trans Atlantic trip. Just found your channel a little while ago and trying to get all caught up
Sam, my mind is officially blow away ! Oriental N.C. was my old stomping ground years ago ! I went to Pamlico County Middle School and High School until I moved back to Miami Springs Fl. in 11th Grade . I learned to sail when I was 13 years old - in ORIENTAL ! It is a small world dude, but look who I'm telling !?
Sam, great video can't wait for you to start on repairs and remodel your boat, and good luck with surgery?
Awesome stuff man, you look well!
By now the video has 68 000 views .... so you are a youtube sailing superstar for sure
Yes you are a UA-cam superstar😎
I don’t understand how u don’t at least have a mil subs traveling like that. Just keep doing it bro you’ll get it
Now the fun starts :)
No question... being a sailor is hard work.
UA-cam Sailing Super Star is an understatement!
I noticed other people who routed rain water into their onboard fresh water tanks, seemed like a great idea to me. Hard to do if you don't have a deck fitting to do it with.
Just a thought.
