  • The day has finally arrived! After lots of measuring, research, indecision, and going back and forth on wheel designs. I finally managed to decide on some new wheels and tires for my 2012 Mercedes E550 4Matic W212. The 4Matic and Airmatic on this E550 make fitting aftermarket wheels a challenge, but with a bit of work, I got it all figured out and the results are great!
I wanted to make sure I had the exact fitment I had in mind, so I did a lot of research before buying these wheels. This video is a reveal of the new wheels, but more importantly, it is a how to on how to figure out the correct wheel size, tire size, offset, and fitment for aftermarket wheels on any car. I hope this video helps you guys out if you are looking for new wheels for your Mercedes or any other vehicle. I am really happy with the look and fitment of my new wheels, really makes the car look a lot better!
Follow me on instagram at @therealbucksgarage for more pics of the new wheels.

nice informative video which will help folks out there who want to do the same. It truly enhances the look on the car! On my 2016 Mercedes E400 I reached out to Les Schwab told them I wanted 20" staggered Vossen HF3 gloss black double tinted on Continental Extreme Sport Tires. They immediately reached out to Vossen Miami and the rest is history. Amazing fitment with black weights mounted on inside of wheel so not easily visible. Much better than those 18" from factory and really changed the look of the car.

I just recently got your response thanks, I did find your video on the wheels you put on, GREAT LOOK (btw) I will have to bend my strut plate up some to make them fit i guess, (no air suspension) 😤 keep up the great work, I'm following your lead, car play next...keep you posted on my wheel progress soon. Thanks again B.

I have talked to people who had to bend the cup a little, it doesn't take much, just a few whacks with a hammer will do it. From what I hear, it isn't too big a deal. You can run a slightly smaller tire and not have to bend the cup, but I wanted that extra sidewall to keep the wheels nice. Thanks for watching!

This is so crazy that I stumbled upon this video. Excellent job and great video by the way. I wish you made this a a couple years ago, it would have saved me so much time and headaches, your explanation was spot on. I have the same staggered Rohana wheels and the same tire sizes (Toyos though) on my W212 4Matic but my fronts are 9", rears are 10". Literally the tightest fit I have ever seen on the spring perch (I don't have airmatic as my vehicle is the E350) If I were to do it again I think I would go with 8.5" and 9.5" though. It looks fantastic!

Thanks for watching! Nice choice on wheels too ;). I was really interested in some vertini wheels, but they just wouldn’t fit right and we’re hard to get ahold of, really happy with these Rohanas. 22:30 Quicker tip if you're watching and reading this in 2023.. "Winter rims" aren't necessary anymore they're not cheap plated rims like back in the day, they're both alloy and won't ruin because of snow you're fine keeping them on. If there's any real concern, then just change to winter tires (which also isn't necessary because it's a 4Matic and all seasons are more than enough and I'm in PA. Thanks for checking out the video, glad it was helpful for you. I would say it did firm the ride up just a little bit, but I thought the ride on this Airmatic car was a bit too soft even in sport mode before. I can always go to comfort mode if I want, but I am usually in sport and it is still plenty comfortable. No issues or damage with the suspension. You will notice a bit of lag off the line due to the larger wheel size, your speedo will be off just a bit. And I would recommend watching out for serious potholes as they can damage bigger wheels. Overall I am happy with the 20's and I really like the look.

Question would a 275/35/20 work in the back? I currently have a set up of 245/35/20 in the the front and the 275/3020 but there is a bit of a gap in the back.. The front sits perfectly! 20 inch is a but much and especially those. Holy NY/Miami 1998 drug dealer. I bought the AMG 19 inch wheels and only Michelin Pilot Sports go on any of my vehicles. From AS to Summer. MPG and ride is hugely effected. This W212 looks great but; I would want to ride for more than 1 mile in that car. Especially screwing with 4matic and offset. Alignment with balance is an issue as well. Looking great and be safe is no comparison. It's like I enjoy my W212 and older but, looks aren't the safety and technology of the new ones. Reliability and build quality is a whole other issue on the older and newer ones. Going to the Piggly Wiggly for 10 miles and highway coupled with potholes roads driving is another issue. You can do it in some areas. Looks great though .. tint as well. The safety and legality is an other issue as well. My 2014 in black gets the baby treatment. Much more than my newer much more expensive leased ones. Great information though. Again, the wheels, labor, time, tires, steering wheel are a huge chunk if the value of the car. I thought this was an E350. E550 Biturbo with 20" wheels and a V8 that's that year. Must fill up the 21.1 gallon tank every 2 minutes. I do enjoy it though. It's also a "New set of shoes.". Poke

Third party air suspension replacements can be bought cheaper and they come with lifetime warranties.

Please lower it. It looks horrible that high.

I may lower it a 1/4 or 1/2 inch from where it is. It is a daily driver, it needs to maintain some practicality. I have other not so practical cars that I can play with lowering.

20 looks disproportionate. 19 is about as big as you can go on a 212 without it looking like a car from gta5.
