That's jolly smart. It is pretty much what I did with my front and rear recording dashcam, including using a USB connector and the positioning of the rear cam. I managed to find an 'ignition on' the live wire behind the radio somewhere, though. I must admit I removed the internal mirror years ago. I also have tinted windows and the reflections drove me crackers. Yet ironically, it makes a huge difference to general visibility. I tend to use the external mirrors to reverse; however, my dashcam has a wire that connects to the reversing light, and when it detects power, it automatically shows the view from the rear cam, which is useful for blind spots. There is also a button on the side of the dashcam that lets me activate the rearview manually if I need it.
Hi Doc, I got to say that’s pretty smart, a real nice upgrade, you certainly aren’t afraid of having a go are you!!! Sawtooth Alloys and BFG KO 2 ordered today, can’t wait, like a kid at Christmas! Keep it up Doc! Kind regards Tony
I had the exact same one was very handy but I found over time that is created a bit of a blind spot being such a big screen etc - but deffo helped with reversing when I first got the car! I got used it it after a while then found I didn’t really need it. But a good mod overall!! Class video again Marcus ❤️👊🏻
It’s a neat idea for sure. So now that you’ve had it installed for a while, do you still like it? Personally, having a screen there vs an actual mirror would drive me up the wall after a while lol. I’d have opted for a double-din head unit instead, but that’s just me.
I still do (but my wife hates it) I think it gets some getting used to. It’s very similar to the clear view in the new defenders and helps witht he spare wheel mounted so high
This is a great channel to watch, I have just sold my 2010 60 plate TDV8 Range Rover Sport which is heartbreaking but it was unpractical, I am now looking for a Puma Defender and these vids are brilliant. thankyou so much!
I've also fitted a 'mirror camera' and although the features are good and the camera is OK, i have the drooping problem and also al lot of vibration when driving that causes the mirror image to blur. have you had that problem? I'm going to try some thread lock on the ball to see if it fixes the drooping. PTFE tape didn't surprisingly. With the droop and the wobble it's pretty much unusable, unfortunately.
do you think you’d have the time to make an introduction video on all your land rovers that just sort of tells us about them and what mods you’ve put on em? subscribed recently and have been rlly enjoying watching these :)
A good solution to the problem dashcam and rear camera. I have drawn power from the fuse box with a power thief on my 110. Unfortunately, the brake light is now permanently on. Do you have any ideas? Is there an unused area in the fuse box that can be used without complications?
A bit late now I know but could you have flipped the camera bracket around and drilled out the middle to allow it to fit around the whole for the rear washer jet?
Yeah mines close to having that issue to be fair- you could try putting a bit of rubber or Something on the ball joint to try increase the friction between the parts
Show that you know nothing about Landrovers without saying you know nothing about Landrovers.... The bodywork (other than the bulkhead and door frames) is made of aluminium alloy.
I like your socks

Great addition 😁 plus the forward facing dash cam is a bonus these days!
Thanks!
Brilliant improvement to a very special Td5 - well done 👍
Thanks Malcolm 👌🏻👌🏻

Picking up my 2015 D90 this week and these videos are really useful. Thank you.
Nice! Enjoy! Glad to hear you find the videos interesting 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great vid, made me order one and great bit of kit
🙏🏼🙏🏼👌🏻
Nice 👍 does the image from the back camera get saved to the SD card or is it just the front cam that is saved?
Perfect!
🙏🏼
Looks very interesting Doc. Might give it a go myself. The night vision looks amazing
Nice work. I installed similar in my 2008 Discovery 3 front and rear.
Great mod!
@@thedoctorsgarage Thanks

Thanks for watching Ian, glad you are enjoying the content. Good luck with finding your. Puma Defender 👍

Sounds annoying - fortunately I haven’t had that issue myself but thread lock
Sounds like a great idea to help 👌🏻
Just fitted a reversing camera to mine this afternoon
Nice!
looks good. Is it a good dash-cam also..?
Hi Ben thanks! Yes runs off an SD card to keep a recording loop on it which is good

Thanks! I may have in the future, great idea and welcome to the channel

I fitted the same camera to my merc B class and it works brilliantly , have you fitted an sd card?😃. get the biggest that the unit can take
I haven’t yet - but I need to!
Did you use white fir tree clips when redoing your head lining?
No used self tapping screws - I hate those fir tree clips!
That is a nice upgrade. Problem is it is difficult to get things like that in sunny South Africa.
South Africa has went to hell hasn’t it …. Used to be a great country I heard …. What happened 😂
A bit late now I know but could you have flipped the camera bracket around and drilled out the middle to allow it to fit around the whole for the rear washer jet?
😭 that’s a great idea! But yes damage is done. Thanks 🙏🏼
Do you sunvisors clash with it at all? I bought a similar kit but the unit was far too big.
They don’t as tried them for size… but I haven’t got round to fitting the sunvisors properly yet
My Defender's mirror doesn't seem to have enough friction for the extra weight. When you clip the thing on it just droops down lol.

Something on the ball joint to try increase the friction between the parts
A tip.... undercoat and paint that bare metal around the drilled hole, guaranteed to rust otherwise.
Show that you know nothing about Landrovers without saying you know nothing about Landrovers....

You sure you don’t work for Amazon 😆. Great vid. Might look into a new rear view as the current one isn’t great
I feel like I do sometimes with how much random stuff I end up with off there 😂😂
Such a great and cheap mob :D
Where did you purchase it from?
Links to all the gear are in the description 👌🏻
One day I’ll own a Defender. One day…
👌🏻
