great job, the extra 10lbs was comedy gold ;)
Thanks! 😁
How many cameras on you? Joking 👍🏼
That is SOOOO much better than the janky looking external camera that everyone mounts above the rear window. 👌
Thanks for posting this. I bought one of these a couple weeks ago and could not for the life of me figure out the power to the mirror. I didn't get that red plug adaptor. Time to dig into the spare parts box
No problem 👍
great job but the only thing i would have done is use self amalgamating tape if you have not already it keeps out any wet/damp and it will never come undone ,thanks for the video
I bought and fitted this kit from Optimill. The lamp unit is well engineered and looks really well.
The camera however is terrible. As soon as daylight falls close to dusk its useless and in the dark there is nothing - probably when you need it most.
I've bought generic cameras for 50 quid that were infinitely higher quality than the camera on this. it's a real pity its let down by this when i'm sure decent cameras are easy to source.
You may also want to note that the numberplate light is so offset that it's almost impossible to see the towbar if you wanted to use the camera to help hitch up a trailer.
I'd have to agree.
Thank you for that. It was the main reason I did watch this, to answer that very question.
Fitted one of these to my 90 a couple of years ago. Excellent bit of kit. Video feed goes to a flat-screen radio that I installed at the same time. Makes reversing to the trailer a lot easier.
Cracking kit!
I would love to see a version of this for the Disco II.
Think this one is a bit too much for me to have a go at. 😂
I like the camera but I'm not a fan of the screen in the rear view mirror. I took mine off years ago.
Love Optimil kit, love the light fitting and the concept is fantastic. However the quality of the camera lets the whole thing down. Has anyone found a better quality camera that would fit the unit… ?
If your radio has a camera option, would it be compatible?
If it had the same phono connection it would or you might need an adapter
Yes, worked for me. The yellow phono plug is pretty standard.
I have a 1999 130. How would I run the wire to the mirror.
There is enough wire in the loom but you'd need to run it externally with some sheathing to protect the wire.
