As a resident of BTM layout, I'm absolutely against this decision. Shops here shut around 12 am only after a police car comes and warns them to shut. As it is there is a lot of noise pollution and we cannot sleep until 12 am. Now this nuisance will definitely affect the quality of life for my family as there will be more people and more noise until 1-2 am. Thoughtless decision.

No we’re not ready, this is a pretty stupid move weighing the small benefits to shops vs the huge burden it puts on those working in these shops. They’ll be forced to work longer hours on the same wage, and it’s not like the employer can say no, manpower is abundantly available in India. In addition, Bangalore police simply doesn’t have the capability to keep the streets safe so late at night (they already are failing badly), nor is the public transit ready for this shift. All in all, just the government wanting to make a bit more money and pocket it I think. Milking the cow that’s Bangalore!

Well. Mixed thoughts. Imagine commercial establishments very close to residential areas. There will be a lot of noise all around and it might disturb the peace and rest which 'majority' of the people will want post evening.
On the other hand, I had personally done night shifts for 3 years approximately when I worked in those industries which demanded a 24x7 service. Yes I would have definitely liked it if shops would be open till late night or early morning. But let me tell anyone who is genuinely concerned about a good healthy life. It is bad. I could see my health suffer even though I was in my early twenties back then.
Eating, drinking late and night, going to sleep in the morning feels good for once in a while as told by the health and wellness coach here. It is true. If you make into a lifestyle, it is bad.
Hence, let the Government put new rules if they want. But we need to decide what's good for ourselves. It's better to live a healthy life rather than spending lakhs in a hospital later.
Everyone has their own will and choice. Unless it disturbs the peace in a fully residential area and employees getting transport and compensation, I think its fine. Live and let live ✨️

So, it's going to a norm, if you're young, you are going to end up having night shift. Why not schools be open after midnight, let's prepare our kids for "the city that never sleeps"

I don’t want to rub salt to the wound, however I can’t resist telling this : I wondered always why the rentals and property prices sky rocketed so much that it has gone in to the unaffordable zone. A city that has good roads, less traffic congestion, greenery, clean lakes, public parking, pedestrian zones, uninterrupted power supply, uninterrupted water supply (especially when it rains every monsoon). Bengaluru has none of the above, yet the real estate is insane. Only Malls and micro breweries can’t make a city amazing to live.

I really like Bangalore /Hyderabad 🧡 for their Sophisticated industrial base...
These Urban Hubs r so strategically located nested right in the heavyweight industrial zones of Karnataka n Telangana 👊

I am an NRI, it's strange not to see a single human being in the streets even during day time, feels like I am walking around in Ghost City.
There is a huge correlation between population decline and indoor generation.

"City that never sleeps." ? Even my hometown Kolkata which is not for recent developments have more occasions when it bustles at night than Bengaluru and have more spaces open at night than Bengaluru. I can compare since I have lived considerably in both cities.
