    The pricing makes sense only in Canadian dollars. That's a very big difference in starting price. For the U.S. market, the raptor is only $1k more ( not including dealer markups 😐) which makes this truck way less compelling. Nice video guys.

      @dcl97 2 роки тому +4

      It needs to be about $10k less than it is to be compelling. The Raptor/TRX have heavily modified frames and vastly different suspension setups. This looks like a regular 1500 suspension with a lift and dampers. And let's be honest. People pay big money for Raptors because of the image, not because they need a Baja truck. For the most part this just looks like a regular Silverado with a lift and some all terrains.

      Tremor is comparable to the TrailBoss and AT4; not the ZR2. ZR2 has an entirely different caliber of shocks, etc. The ZR2, doesn't really have a comparable Ford. It sits between the Tremor and Raptor. I personally think that is the sweet spot. I prefer a standard width over the widebodies to fit down the narrow trails we drive. ZR2 won't be quite as good at high speed desert or big whoops, but fair trade off for me. The stock width and high end shocks are the sweet spot for my needs. Now, if they just do something similar on the HD Silverado. Hoping the rumors of a HD ZR2 are real.

    Chevy managed to make a legit off-road focused truck that doesn't sacrifice any practicality. If you lived with a half ton truck, this is just another truck but with more goodies. No extra questions about parking or road size. No major sacrifices to fuel economy or fuel grade (runs regular). Still tows well and the payload is on par with any well equipped half ton. This really is the sweet spot. Other brands should be paying attention. The only real criticism I have is the price. It's within spitting distance of a raptor. Can't wait to see a full review! This does seem like a nice package in a full-size truck. Here in Ohio, we have tight, narrow, muddy trails, so the compact Colorado ZR2 would be a more practical choice for an off-road pickup.

    Nice truck, but to me the tires look too small. Needs a minimum of 35’s put on it. Would look and perform better. 37’s even more. You know it’s gonna happen. You’d think the manufacturers would figure that out and offer it from the factory. The Raptor has a 37” option.

    I really like this truck & it occupies a good price point for those not looking to get into a Raptor or TRX. It helps that the exterior & interior design are both more pleasing than the new Tundra TRD Pro as well. New Tundra is flat-out hideous, so the choice for me is either the GMC or this. 👍🏻

    • @MrChadx1
      @MrChadx1 2 роки тому +3

      This has been my biggest issue with some of the fun or higher level trims. All are only in crew cab short beds. No doublecab standard beds. Silverado High Country, ZR2 and Sierra AT4 and up. Same with HD. High Country and AT4 only in crew cab and not doublecab. Both have standard beds, but that stretches the Crew Cab wheelbase and overall length too long for the overlanding I do. Always forced to buy lower trims and add aftermarket rather than buy the cool or high end factory trims, unfortunately, because they are not offered in double cabs.

    • @skiptheroad
      @skiptheroad 2 роки тому +1

      Yah, a regular cab short bed is what Chevy should have led with. It would have been different, exciting, and original. They could have introduced it with an original bright red 1994 Chevy S10 ZR2 which only came in a regular cab short bed. Instead, it appears GM is chasing the competition. I am not impressed at all with their attempt at a full size ZR2.

    It’s only issue is the price is 70k for this truck which is entering raptor territory. Actually it’s real comparison is the Ford Tremor I think, they’re both designed for an all around off roader as opposed to just a desert runner

    • @khakiswag

      People also forget Ford offers the Raptor in a more basic XLT trim; all the off-road goodies without the luxury features. It would be the same price as the ZR2.

    Love the video. I agree the ZR2 is the sensible one, makes it easy to daily drive, will undercut the price of most of the others you will find of dealer lots, and the 6.2 is going to be the easiest to use on the trail, not too intimidating. I would easily get intimidated taking a TRX on a trail, desert running, not so much

    Perfect place to test the ZR2! I think Chevy will sell a ton of these. I like that they didn’t go overboard and compromise for on road. Chevy nailed it with this ZR2 to give most consumers what they will actually want and use. The 6.2L is plenty of engine. Front and rear lockers makes this a capable off roader.
