i like it when people complain about filling up a 36 gallon tank. it costs the exact same amount monthly filling up that tank once or twice, vs filling up a 20 gallon tank 3 or 4 times lol! I'd rather have a huge tank and 700-800 miles of driving non-stop and get where i'm going. which is why i'm really considering a 60 gallon on my super duty!

I drive a 2021 Toyota Tundra and it has a 38 gallon fuel tank. It is such a huge blessing! The fact I can go over 600 miles on a tank without filling up makes my somewhat regular road trips much more manageable because I do not have to stop usually in-between stops for work. Not only that, when I am towing 7,000-8,000 lbs and I am only getting 10-11 mpg, I do not have to stop every two hours to refuel like I had to with my F-150 ecoboost because it has the gas tank size of a 65 year old woman's bladder!
Trust me the bigger the better when it comes to fuel tanks.

You wouldn't even notice the extra weight, and if you really care, just don't fully fill the 36 gallon tank.
However, the fact that the Silverado 1500 doesnt even have an option for a larger tank makes it immediately useless to me. There are places I tow my travel trailer where I physically could not get to and back out with a 24 gallon tank. When you are towing into a bad headwind getting 7 mpg, that 24 gallon tank is a serious problem. It has an actual towing range of

So my dumbass bought a 23 tundra with the self grenading engine feature. Tundra sucked but i sold it before the recall. I was looking at the Tremor, the Rebel, and the ZR2. I couldn't find a Tremor with an 8 cy. The rebel financing was outrageous and Ram got rid of the Hemi! The ZR2 had the 8 cylinder and 1.9% financing. First chevy truck I've owned in 20 years. So far so good - if i don't drive like an idiot I'm getting high teens even 20 mpg. Ram has the best interior, I prefer the Coyote 5.0 and the F150 interior, but the ZR2 was the best option available. So far, I love it.

For most of my life I have been pretty pro-Toyota (even growing up in west Texas). I ordered a 23 Tremor Coyote Gen 3 last February and it took about a month to get it. I easily get about 20 mpg combined if I stay out of sport mode. I didn't buy a Toyota this time because they dropped the V8 and recovery hooks (and I don't like the huge grill). I didn't buy a GM because we had horrible luck with a 2018 half ton, even though I thought the truck's looks were solid. I sold my 2013 Rock Warrior Tundra to our company for a work truck when I bought the Tremor. It has been the best (and oldest) truck in the local fleet since then (we work in the four corners where O&G work sites are generally not friendly to get to). I still have an 02 Taco TRD that needs a new slave cylinder for the clutch after 200k miles (one of the few trucks that has never left me stranded). I've owned a lot of trucks (many Toyotas, Fords, and GMs), but the thought of potentially getting rid of that Taco bothers me to my core. I never became a Chrystler/Dodge guy because I grew up in an era that was not favorable to them reliability-wise. They have some great-looking trucks and cars though. Peace, Love!!

I think you've underestimated the Torsen front differential in the Tremor. Having had them in both axles of my Jeep, as well as lockers in other trucks, I would pick Torsens over lockers any day in a truck that gets daily driven in a wide variety of conditions. There are very very few situations where that front locker would given an advantage over a torsen, and it would probably involve dragging your frame over rocks while you have tires lifted in the air. Even then the Torsen would still do well.
Honestly, I'd be happier if the Tremor came with Torsens in both axles.

Around here, diesel is at least $1/g more than gasoline. That more than offsets the higher mileage of the diesel. There are other reasons to buy a diesel, but on a 1/2 ton, it just doesn't pay fuel wise. Life of the engines may be another factor, but only time will tell if the diesel is that much better. Lastly, DEF and super expensive oil changes need to be factored in.

" There are other reasons to buy a diesel, but on a 1/2 ton, it just doesn't pay fuel wise."
I get 28 to 30 mpg highway with the 3.0 Dmax. Diesel here is 3.69/gallon. A 6.2 recommends 91+ octane for best performance which is hovering arond $4.20/gal. Even with 87 octane, it's 3.39/gallon here. 30%+ better fuel economy more than offsets the cost of fuel here.
DEF is cheap at truck stops and it's usually higher quality than jugs that have been sitting around for months. The 3.0 Dmax might use 5 gallons over the course of 7,000 miles. It's nothing as far as running cost.
The oil changes for the 3.0 Dmax is slightly more, maaaybe $20-30.
The 3.0 is a great choice. 460 lb ft at 1500 rpm, 495 lb ft at 2700 rpm. Mini-cummins engine note. There's a lot of reason to consider the diesel engine.

Modern Diesels get better highway and towing mpg than the equivalent modern gasser; there is tons of evidence and videos at TFL alone to back that up.
Modern Diesels really only suffer in the city, where not only does their mpg drop below gassers but they also need to burn extra fuel to clean the DPF which normally cleans itself at highway speeds. I’m surprised that diesel trucks haven’t incorporated hybrid systems yet, as that would help immensely with one of their biggest drawback.

    Well a couple of things.
First off with the payloads being so close, I don't really see how you're actually going to get nearly 2000lbs more towing out of the F150.
Second the Duramax I6 is all aluminum, heads and block. It might have iron sleeves? Not sure, but other than that it's definitely aluminum.
Last, those stupid useless hood bulges on the Chevy would force me to go looking for an aftermarket hood...or for a Sierra AT4X, which would eat into the price discrepancy between the two.
If I was in the market I might have to call this a wash.

99.9% of the time, a Torsen/helical front diff is better than a front locker. Unfortunately, the other 0.1% of the time the front diff can save you from needing to be winched, but these are giant 1/2 ton pickup trucks and as such are the wrong vehicles for those situations anyway.

Not crazily priced and offers everything you’d need in a full size pickup. Got mine for 32k w/4k miles as it was a loaner and comes with a 6 year 100k cpo warranty.
I looked at the ram’s but didn’t like the new hurricane engines and hear they’re already having problems.
Took a look at Chevy’s offerings and even drove the 2.7L 4cyl they had for a little while as a rental but it had electrical issues.
Then was introduced to the new 24’ F150 Supercrew with the larger fuel tank, tons of leg room for passengers, and awesome fuel economy especially for a full size pickup. Have been averaging 24-25mpg on the highway. With the 10 speed it shifts wonderfully and gets great fuel economy.

700 miles is nice, but more niche then actually valuable; the odds of going more then 500 miles without finding a good place to gas up, but then finding that good place in the next 200 miles is pretty slim.
The real benefit is towing, when range is cut in half or worse and not all stations can accommodate a trailer; that extra distance can then be a real life saver.

Comparison was done using the 4A that you could get in the ram 1500 (BW44-44 t case) vs the part-time in the wrangler/gladiator (BW44-45)
I think only the raptor (and tremor) have a unique engineered system that has the transfer case using special clutches to simulate AWD in 4A while still having a proper lock in 4Hi and 4lo.

Tremor is too expensive when compared to a Raptor. It's meant to be Raptor Lite, not a less capable Raptor for the same money.
If that ZR1 had Supercruise, I'm taking it all day long over the Tremor. But only with the Duramax. That engine is a pleasure to drive, I really prefer it over the Ecoboost. Plus MPG will be way better. Why GM left Supercruise off this pricey truck is a head scratcher.

8:52 yeah definitely a bummer they only pair that feature with the High Equipment group, but worth noting Ford's Hi Lock transfer case is the same (or very similar) to the Raptor. It can mechanically lock fully unlike the ZR2 which just uses it's clutch packs to maintain coupling. Most people will never tell the difference, but worth noting.

Chevy is counting on you to convince everyone else; don’t trust the numbers or the facts, just remember that Chevy is always better no matter what. Even if it keeps getting passed by other vehicles towing each time it encounters a hill, it’s still better. Besides, being behind everyone lets you see what everyone else is doing, so really Chevy is doing you a favor back there.

It would be the ultimate overlander if it had a larger tank. I know guys running 40 gallon auxilary tanks in their land cruisers in addition to the 24.6 gallon factory tank. When you arerunning on dirt roads and trails with your tires air'd down to 15 psi carrying water, food, a roof top tent and 1000 lbs worth of other shit getting 9 mpg, 24 gallons is gunna go quick.
