Exactly, another technique that could have been cool is to spray water between the dark and the light layer in some places, it would have created some kind of halo when drying like real rust does :p
That's a good effect the only way I'd imagine you'd get it any better is if you did a few metal colours to look like the metal colour underneath before the rust also some stencils to make the illusion of texture
Your personality is so inspiring. Your art pieces are amazing, but I really like watching these videos for your comedic commentary! It’s so refreshing. Thank you for being a genuinely good human being! 😁
I love the way your videos are edited. Just the sound of the spray can and the cars in the distance is perfect asmr. I have binged your videos so many times.
Bro why all your vids so relaxing and calming to me... If I'm feeling down or bad I just watch you painting some shit and it's automatically a good time for me. don't know what you're doing to achieve this or I just like your style but I feel good watching your content
this paint would be great for model making would be perfect for scale buildings and train waggons, would be interesting to see if changing the cap to something smaller would affect the paint flow?
yeah that's what I was thinking too, like do some rough textured edges and only do some rust there (and maybe some rust on scratches and holes in the chrome fill or something)
pienso que se puede sacar el mismo efecto con colores normales , incluso con una gama mas amplia se puede hacer algo mejor, gracias por enseñarnos estos sprays !
I've recently started using the montana rage to spray paint xbox Controllers and i must say the quality and finish is lit👌🏻😍😍 best spray paint I've ever used......
this is super fun, it would be interesting to try adding textures to your artwork by spraying glue and chucking different things on it like sand, dirt or glitter (like when you use black for shadows or add other effects over the top of the letters)
Might be worth taking some transparent fixer and acetone. With those cans they kind of miss the weird watery, woodgrain look to rust. Some model kits have “Rust kit” paints where you layer water-based, heavy bodied and oil based paint to get a nice rusty look. If you use some acetone to take out a lighter layer above a darker one you might get something similar.
Very nice. You can buy paints that have iron pigments in them, I think black, red, and yellow. I suppose if you use a mix of those, it should give you the right colors since they are made of iron to begin with.
Do a piece with montana glow in the dark sprays. Let it absorb the light during the day and then come back when it starts getting dark. Should be interesting
Random thought when u mentioned this paint more for craft projects, Tufting for some reason came to me. Would love a I try tufting vid, I want a doke rug!
What I like about you, Doke.. Is that you constantly try new things. It's more difficult to make progress that way (believe me, I know) than by doing the same style over and over again, but it keeps being interesting for yourself and others. And it seems like you always learn some new skills that make your next piece more interesting / realistic / dope. I find that there is an overlap in everything - graffiti, calligraphy, wood carving, DIY, repairing things, making your own tools, modding your musical instruments, making music, designing merch, customizing sneakers, etc. At some point you will use skills you learned for one thing, to do another thing. Curious to see what you would do with art on canvas or maybe wood carving some graffiti or something. (But please DON'T take that as ADVICE - I'm only curious. I am not the one with 1.5 million followers on UA-cam ;). Simple. People clearly already like what you do right now :)) - As someone who had brand endorsements, Maybe consider incorporating the MTN logo in your video (like SMOE does) in the intro and/or outro. (On videos that are released during the time of your partnership, I mean.) Could open up some doors for extra awesomeness. (Maybe giveaways or something. Or just extra gear for you & yourself ;))
I work at theme parks as a theme painter, and if I were to try to make it better, I would use the space paintings approach where you use a piece of paper or a bag to create distresses in the paint. But that said, that paint looks like it can be mimicked with orange and brown and then throw some sand on top of the first coat of paint. In your case, the orange. But those are my thoughts on it. Not worth the money probably. But cool video.
i am a big follower of yours doke, Ive seen you improve ur can control, style techniques buy u have not worked on ur letters.. would love to see uou go back to ur roots like the Venice Beach piece u rocked.... just keeping it real..
Only been following for a year or so, but just wanted to say I frickin love this channel. Doke has unreal talent, and always entertaining as hell to watch. Thanks for sharing your art with the world brother!
That piece turned out pretty well! Great job Doke! I do think there is room for improvement and I agree that using a better orange would have helped the piece. If you decide to do another rust piece I'd love to see how you tackle creating a rusty item. Perhaps a rusty spray paint can?
the auf wiedersehen at the end killed me xD mayb its the fact that im german but it was absolutely awesome. keep it up. not my favourite one but looks good as always ^^
you can try sprinkling iron powder on the still wet paint, wait until the paint dries and then spray a mix of hydrogen peroxide and salt on it. The H2O2-Salt-Mix should oxidize the metal powder pretty quickly. I think the best effect can be acheived when the liquid is running down the walls (so you have rust-traces down to the bottom - should look like a rusty sheet of metal). However - heven't tried it yet but maybe it's worth a try for you. have a good time!
The best thing that helped me with painting rust effects is weathering. I make weapons and armor from Eva foam and when I do my rust I use different things to apply the different shades to achieve the grainy texture of rust. I find that spraying it directly on the piece doesn't look quite right.
Maybe try putting down a dull silvery/metallic color first then use the rust spray paint on top of that but go orange first then brown on top since that’s how actual rust is formed. Looks great keep it ip
New subscriber I have to say your Graffiti prowess is on point, and your commentary is fresh! Thank you for your content. Further more to see your gestures as you paint a piece is really awesome. Oh yeah Snow is the cutest guard dog I have ever seen!
it looks cool but the E is so unrecognizable to me.. the only reason I knew what it was is because I knew what I was looking for but it definitely looks great regardless
Would taking a screw driver and hammer to a heavily painted surface maybe work out for giving it some real texture too? I'm not a painter so I don't know if that would break any unwritten rules just thought it may be good way to rough up the surface
The leaves thing was dope, do you think it may be possible to glue some leaves on a graffiti (or something sheet-like perhaps with more durability) and paint them to make that effect?
Try doing all the Montana effect sprays in one piece
@@chuckberry1853 ye
I second this
GENIUS
Expensive shit but yea a cool idea
Do it
Next time you could maybe put a gray under the rust first. Then apply the rust on top in a way where the rust would be. But the piece came out dope
That's what I was thinking. When he did it with the leaves it looks super good
Either grey or chrome but yea I agree
It came out...doke 😶.

yes
I imagined that in a very different way aswell
Yo! That was so fricking cool. Didn't expect it to look that realistic.
Same

This reminds me of graffiti on the side of freight trains that have sat there for so long. Love it!!
Lets go, new Doke video while im sick, this'll probably make me feel a little better.
this paint would be great for model making would be perfect for scale buildings and train waggons, would be interesting to see if changing the cap to something smaller would affect the paint flow?
You are a real artist
Just had a thought. The rusty effect could look really cool when used with a chrome spray paint.
yeah that's what I was thinking too, like do some rough textured edges and only do some rust there (and maybe some rust on scratches and holes in the chrome fill or something)
Doke plsz do a chrome Piece and and rust to it ‼️

Buhahahha

LOL I SEEN THAT
Watched GAWX first😂😂
@@loicb1511 bad decision
Maybe the lighter color should have that spider spray paint effect to get that optical structure? 🤔
The way u r using the reallife-reference is pretty good and helped the piece a lot! Nice result!
the fact that the auto-captions keeps thinking the spray paint noise is applause makes me smile lol

Snow is beautiful and the piece is amazing as always
I love how Doke brings snow to mostly every piece he does
Do a piece with montana glow in the dark sprays. Let it absorb the light during the day and then come back when it starts getting dark. Should be interesting
I rally can see a use of those effect spray paints in propmaking, they look fantastic on objects.
really nice grafity i love it

Would of loved to see you add the leaves to the painting as well
You should try to make a piece using the paint already on the wall, like chip at the wall for depth and color at the same time
I already know it's going to be a win.... i mean cmon he's DOKE 😉👉

Bro when you started the rivets I was confused but then then it just popped out and looked dope as hell
This might be a good idea for you. Try using a bunched up newspaper on wet paint with both colors mixed for that metal flack appearance.

I might try this on one of my motorcycles 🏍 final piece looks amazing, love the "natural" references people have kindly left behind for you..
That could actually make for a cool rat rod build.
This would make a really great color for a MadMax mural
I wonder how these would look with the mixing cap
Can u make a grafiti by throwing waterballoons what are filled with paint
hey man your the best love your vids man keep it up
It actually does look really rusty, amazing :)

Wow that leaf thing 😍😍 nailed it bro 🔥🔥
Any advice for painting on rusty metal? I think prepping with a metal brush (I call it a wire brush) will help

Could you put green/blue colour on top to make it look like patina on copper?
