  • #skcrappie Crappie jig tying is a lot fun, I enjoy it as much as fishing when I can't go fishing. Catching crappie on them is a very satisfying accomplishment. I can tie any color combo I want & I get to experiment.

For anyone watching, this is solid instructions. For any beginners, the part where he says you need to start with a solid foundation is the most important part. If I could add a little tip to anyone worried about that, or anyone that has trouble with material twisting on the hook shank, you can add just a dab of super glue to the hook shank, then wrap your thread. That’ll stop it from twisting

Thanks a lot brother for a fantastic lesson on how to tie a crappie jig! I’ve seen a lot of tutorials here on UA-cam on how to tie a fly jig, but none of them comes close to doing as fine a job at teaching people how to tie a jig as you do!
Most other fly-tying instructors skip steps or do part of their steps off cameras when they show people how to tie a fly, but you actually show us every step! Including how to cut and stack the tail feathers on top of each other to create the tail for the jig! As a beginner, you don’t know how important these little steps are to me!
Thanks a bunch sir for actually showing us how to tie a crappie jig the right way! There are many fly-tying experts here on UA-cam, but none of them measured up to you in teaching!

I tried to buy that large bobbin that you suggested to me, but the person who was selling it on Ebay never answered my emails. I wanted to know if his bobbin was large enough to hold a regular spool of sewing threat, but he never answered any of my email messages to him. I don't want to buy it unless it is what I need since I already have two small bobbins and the last thing I need is one more of the same size. Don't give up on it.... Tie up several color combos as these fish can be very picky at times in what they want....Good Luck and thanks for your support.....

DJ Duke its really not hard but you just can't skip steps....I tied several jigs that were not very good but I feel in love with tying and its a great pass time when you can't get out on the lake.....
