Great video. I would rather catch 30 + crappie a day than 6 bass. I’m almost strictly a hair/feather jig guy. I tie my own and have various color combos, but all white or chartreuse combo are my go to.
Hair jig is the way to go, been tying them for a while now. My opinion is with hair jigs more time for the bait in the water less time fixing the bait on the hook and they are tough. I fished plastic for years and still do from time to time. I tie a lot of 64th and 32nd I like to downsize, big fish eat small baits.. Nothing better than an 80th ounce Bluegill jig catching slab crappie.
yup been tying for 40+ years when tube jigs came along I used them a LOT bought them by the 1000 pack mostly blue and white . then I went back to hair and chenille and different things to add a little sparkle . the longevity of these jigs is off the charts . they just don't come apart more time fishing less time loosing money. one 1/64 oz. jig last for days and catches tons of Sac-Alay. ( Cajun for crappie)
Been making hair jigs, feathers, and rubber skirted crappie jigs for a couple years now. The only time I like plastic over hair is in muddy water I like a curly tail or boot tail for vibration purposes.
For me the discipline is this. I keep one of each tied on two separate rods. When going to lakes where you know that certain colors of hair work all the time then hair it is. When going to a lake where the fish will change up on you ill go with plastics.
Love all of your videos. What do you have around your cables to protect them? I’m scared I’m going to hang mine on the trolling motor putting out or picking up
To Each Their own I guess , LiveScope is just another tool in the tool box , I use it to pinpoint but once i fo i Really don't pay it much attention as a Rule, it's extremely useful on open water fish, a Brand New Hammer,,10 lol 🎣 How or what We do in our own boats is our own choice, nobody paid for Mine but Me , what I do in My boat is My business , some Like Bass Fishing, some like Crappie , Some prefer Catfish Bream Shell Cracker or even bowfin , some prefer salt water, red fish speckled trout, sheephead , flounders , some like Creeks and streams, some like bigger Water and Rivers, some like LiveScope and some Say They Don't, most that say they don't just won't spend the money on it , whatever floats your own boat is what I say, To Each their own and thats my Honest opinion on the subject , And its not debatable

I love this video, I’m just now getting into the hair jigs so that was very helpful
Looks like feather! I think of squirrel tail as hair!!
In my opinion Squirrel tail is the best to use. Best motion, durable, and only hair Mepps uses on its spinners so you know it’s good.
Hal fly, plastic with a feather insert and tail. Unbeatable for crappie and hybrid bass.
Great video as usual matt! Always a knowledgeable fun great experience with 3poundfishing! A+
My name is Michael Lockhart I had just subscribed to your channel.
Using a boat and a sonar like that… you can hone in on anything. The challenge is…. Finding the fish.

What kind of stand do you have your screen on? Does it fold down? Thanks
Cornfield Fishing Gear - The folding mount. Its awesome
So no movement needed..just toss it in and not on the bottom.... So a slip bobber setup would work too?
yep
How far apart do you put your split and what weight do you use
18”
Weight of split shot?
Wow! When did real fishing become a video game?
Takes the fun out of fishing.

I’ll take a plastic over a hair any day. Never had much luck on hair jigs.

I’m here to find out the size of the split shot. That’s all I need to know
