Man that is indeed a beautiful jig😁😁..... Now I know why I like your background music it reminds me of my father-in-law because he definitely loved his westerns.... he's the one that started me on this whole crappie Journey ... I wish he were still here to see these beautiful jigs you make😢 man I definitely want to see y'all sling some crappie from the boat👍👍👍🎣🎣
Eric, thank you for the great information. The first jig I tied in several years was with grey squirrel tail. It had been eating my pecans and a blue jay, a neighbors cat killed. A friend gave me a black squirrel tail from MS. I am looking forward to using some jigs I tied from that. Thank you for sharing. I am also looking forward to tying some Jokers, they are great looking jigs.
Awesome. Squirrel tails are great for bluegill red ear green sunfish perfect for those panfish. As soon as I started tying late January 2021 I saw your video and immediately started using Sally Hansen hard as nails.
Do you only use the tips of the hackle? What about the rest? Also, what size thread? I’ve used 8/0 for trout flies, but that seems too small. Thanks, I enjoy the videos.
Just wanted to say thank you. At 72 I just got started tying jigs and I've learned a lot from your videos. Where is a good place to get supplies and do you have any recommendations what to get. I followed your recommendation and did get a Peak vise. Thanks again.
Just so ya know....I blame you and Lyle Stokes for me wanting to do this like I do. 😁. Lyle’s been tying a few on Saturday nights and you keep feeding the fire. Thanks for taking the time to show how you do things.!
If you try squirrel tail, you will indeed like it. More of a natural color. Myself I save my own from squirrels I get with my tree dogs, Mt Feist. I love the way squirrel looks and ties, you will to.
Waiting on my new rotary Peak vise with base and other goodies. Hopefully next week. I just checked. Couldn’t pass it up fir $200 including all the upgrades and tool attachment. It has the add on turning handle and so on.
Great looking jig

I use saddle hackle
