Not a furry, but I know that the costumed characters at amusement parks sometimes wear vests with cold packs in them under their costumes to stay cool during hot summer days. I definitely recommend them to anyone wearing heavy costumes at a convention, as it can get really warm when you are surrounded by crowds of people, and being unable to properly regulate your temperature because of layers of fur or foam can cause you to develop heat exhaustion pretty quickly.
@@lioninguccisuit I said that I wasn't a furry because I wanted to make it clear that I didn't have firsthand knowledge or experience with this type of costuming, as those who do will be much better resources for guidance on the cooling mechanisms that can be used.

OKOK you (and every cosplayer, or fashion enthusiast really) needs to know about this. I found out about smtg that looks like headphones, but it's actually a fan that you put on your neck. It's sleek and won't be out of place in your outfits or cosplays. You could probably wear it with a fursuit with no trouble. It's a bit pricey, but it beats dying of heat! I won't put a link caus I don't want my comment to get flagged, but just searching neck fan will make it pop up. Also found out about smtg called mesh yarn, which is great for adding texture to your wigs (I'm doing a wig similar to Dollightful's Sakura doll). It probably also works for making claw clip ponytail extensions. It's used for crochet and some people come up with really intricate designs. It could be great for certain design elements (fringes, gloves, headpiece, idk) Just thought those were great tools to use that people don't talk about or know of.
@@icantthinkofanything798 aw thx! It’s been hard to translate to real life Caus dolls don’t really need to concern themselves with heat and weight XD I figured I can make the ponytails out of yarn and detachable so that I can not die basically XD

Embrace it, become a fur suit maker! But in all seriousness fur suits and mascot costumes are a vital resource for anyone trying to make large non human costumes, definitely a good resource that everyone should be willing to use.
Furries are the most fun, kind, and cool people at cons tbh. I feel safe whenever I see a group of furries vibing and having a great time. 💛 Id make a fur suit if I had space to store it lol
As a furry, I can confirm it's normal to sew as much of the fur as possible. It's pretty forgiving so you absolutely *can* get away with gluing it all the way through the process, but it won't hold up as well. So seeing that was pretty painful lol. The resulting worm is so cute though so I can forgive it. ANd yes, most suits are EXTREMELY toasty. Planning for ventilation and cooling is extremely important. I'd recommend buying one of those necklace fans. A good set of under armour can also help you cool down while wicking sweat away from the fur for longevity. Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Your safety is more important than the illusion of worm.

As a fursuit maker this is amazingly hilarious, fursuiters very much do sew the seams and make sure its durable and no backing is showing and hot gluing seams is a thing most beginner fursuit makers do and we all collectively see it as a painful mistake but when you just want to make a silly suit nice and easy then glue it is XD You did a fantastic job, i have been planning to make a worm on a string fursuit for the longest time so this is definitely given me even more of the want to make a little precious wormy! And YES. it gets very boiling in these suits, i once had a nosebleed by wearing a fullsuit in the summer for a pride parade :’)
A suggestion in case you ever do this again, don’t worry about using foam for the entire tail, just make your tube/cone out of fur and only foam the top half that connects to your body, it’ll have better movement than the foaming process you used for it while still being easy to do. Another thing to do is use a thicker foam to make a circular base if you want the tail to not squish at the base at all. Overall excellent work! For a non fursuit maker you’ve done a great job!
