@@keenonyogayes I am !! I did my first 500 hr ytt with her and learned so much more than Asana. She taught us to “celebrate impermanence” which is the key to reducing suffering! And her beautiful energy is contagious… she changed my life for the better in many ways .

One of my earliest yoga teachers was a student of Beryl Bender Birch. We regularly did Beryl's sequences. The sequences were extremely energetic including most of the standing and seated asanas from primary series but with additional arm balances, inversions, and backbends put into the mix. I loved it.
It sounds like her Present Power sequence has been modified further, possibly to make it safer for aging bodies.
I had both of Beryl's first books, Power Yoga and Beyond Power Yoga. My Power Yoga book was signed by Thom Birch at a workshop I took with him. Thom was Beryl's husband, and also a great teacher who sadly passed away a couple years later. It pains me to say that my signed copy was lost, stolen, or borrowed and never returned - I'm not really sure.
Anyways, I really enjoyed listening to this interview. I hope to maintain a practice in the long run as well and Bender is quite the inspiration.

thank you for sharing all this. Beryl is certainly one of the most inspiring people for her continued energy and optimism I’ve ever interviewed to be honest. Also in the loss of Thom, and also aa last year she had a bad fall and broke her pelvis , but has recovered amazingly.. sorry you lost the book 😞 🙏

I don't think video and people complaining is circumstantial evidence. Circumstantial evidence refers to inference to connect to a conclusion. Bruce Lee was also thrown out of the club.

Savasana for 3 hours without moving…no problem 😂

I’m deeply hurt that she thinks yoga should be mixed with politics and for this conversation to get completely partisan at the end…what a supreme disappointment!

well , i think it’s a valid topic these days regarding how yoga should relate ‘off the mat’. You may not agree (i don’t either), but there’s
no reason to feel offended or hurt about someone else’s opinion.
