Started producing about 5 months. I’m learning the rope and it’s super scary cuz it seems like there’s so much to know and makes me feel like I won’t ever make it. But I’m pushing through.
That’s how i felt when i first got serious in music but just watch as many tutorial videos as u can and things will start to make sense as u go on. U cant learn the next thing without learning the first so keep going
Ong I've been tracking out a lot of songs stem by stem while watching videos or something and i wasted hours with this yo this info is priceless how has that been in front of my face all the time and didn't notice. Bigup to you sir
So “enable master track” doesn’t get added to the individual stems? What if I have just a loop without drums and track it out how can I have those master effects with the stems? For example my loop has rc-20, delay, a soundpitcher ect on the master
I'm trying to export stems but it just gives me a full audio file of "current" and "master"... When I open the files they're just the full song, not seperated. I followed your tutorial step by step and that's my result. Any advice? If it helps, I'm using a windows laptop.
Hello my new friend I appreciate your help getting me started using my Artiria key lab 49.I clicked midi hardware port and I have no sound. If you could possibly help me out to get me some sound. Thank you for everything that you do. Hope to hear from you soon.
Cool, but what when I route channels to a bus, e.g perc bus, bass bus etc? Will the bus be exported as a separate track with all these bus effects applied, and then the tracks themselves will be dry? becuase then it looks like the export have to be done indvidually anyway, true solo-ing and exporting each track manually, that would suck
I don’t remember exactly how it works with busses, but you can open up FL, try this method out and see what happens. Then report back and let us know so everyone knows what happens too 👌🏽
Hello Jay, awesome tutorial! I have a question about exporting stems. When I am making drill beats, I often purposely clip the kick and put a clipper on the master channel to get hard kick sound. But if I exported all these beat stems in fl studio and listen to them all together, the beat sounds clipped and bad. This beat sounds good in single master WAV, but there is clipping when I listen to all the mix stems together. Do you process any other works separately in this situation or just upload it?
Thanks! I’ve never had this problem but an easy solution is to just export the kick by itself so it has the sound you like and turn off the master effects for the rest of the track when exporting those stems. I hope this helps!
this might be a stupid question but for trackout n unlimited lisence is the same thing right? and when i export my beat for these lisences does that mean the untagged versions?
No. The track outs usually come with the unlimited license but they’re not the same thing. When you export trackouts, remove all tags except the tag at the beginning of the beat. Hope this helps!
is there any possibility to export waves without this long names ? i mean i Want files names like kick bass sample etc without project name on the begining
It's not stems. It's just individual mixer tracks. What is a stem? Stems are stereo recordings sourced from mixes of multiple individual tracks, such as drums, vocals, and bass. For example, a drum stem will typically be a stereo audio file that sounds like all of the drum tracks mixed together.
You’re technically right, however: Referring to stems as individual mixer tracks a colloquial term that other artists and producers understand. Both are stems in our vocabulary.
Nah keep everything at the level it is when you mix it. If the artist/engineer wants to turn it up they can. You want your trackouts to sound how YOU intended the beat to be mixed. This is a good starting point and it makes it easier for an artist or their engineer to mix the beat. I hope this helps!
so i’m trying to export stems and i followed it step by step but it’s only saving as two files. it only says (current) and (master). am i missing a step?
It sounds like you've done something wrong...but I've never had this problem so I dunno how to fix it. The only thing I can suggest is to follow the instructions in this video carefully and make sure your tracks aren't muted... Lemme know if this helps!
Then I dunno what's going wrong here mate... It's likely a problem with the project. But, I can't help without seeing exactly what's going on. I suggest you try contacting FL support if this bug happens in multiple projects. If not: Try and copy the sounds etc to a new project and it should work in there.
It sounds like you have your other tracks besides Master in the mixer muted when you were exporting. When they're muted, they won't be exported, so maybe check and see if all the stems in the mixer are green lit, meaning it's not muted, and try exporting again?
I want to export a song with split mixer tracks, but i only need the bus tracks, not all the inserts routed to those buses, how can I select the mixer tracks that will be exported?
I don’t know how to specifically select mixer tracks to be exported, sorry. I suggest this: Export all the tracks using the method shown in the video. Then simply delete the tracks you don’t need. That’s what I do all the time. I hope it helps!
how can you export the stems so that the reverb bus effect exports onto the sound itself, not like a dry sound with no reverb and then the bus with all the reverb as 2 seperate things?
Jay Cartere that makes a lot of sense! It seems like it would be a lot of work too, and idk if that’s what everyone else does but I guess the time saved by using a bus is given back in the exporting process lol
Hi Jay Catere, how do you export stems which still run through busses? I've been trying to export stems to be mixed, but want to include the automation and affects I applied through bus channels. Thanks :)
The thing is that this doesn't work if you have buses setup. You either get a bus with all the instruments routed to it, or you get the instrument without all the bus effects.
Yeah, having a tag at the beginning of your song is very common these days. And you might become a super popular producer. Give your customers the choice to leave your tag in or take em out themselves!
No, usually not. However, if you’re using a lot of vsts and plugins then it’ll be best to bounce to audio before exporting to avoid any sync issues and delay
