In emo rap is pretty common to just loop da shit i think, like guitars mostly, i like that authentic vibe but its lil bit scary for me to loop samples like that because of clearance issues, lol
Depends on how it is used. Mac Miller was a sampling god while some people just take a loop and drop some drums on top of it. It can help to get out of a beatblock though
You already said chopping was where the creativity comes in. If everyone used the same sample, how would your's be different? Plus, I love the chop gods and if you saw how well they can flip samples, you'd probably want to emulate that.
So glad to see someone making tutorials who puts a huge emphasis on subjectivity. Been going back through your videos and can easily say they've been exponentially more helpful than a majority of other FL tutorial makers for trap/hiphop, if only because you leave everything up to experimentation and don't try to force weird rules on your viewers. It also helps that your tips are genuinely unique and not on the "this was a cool a year ago and now I'm making a video on it just for the views even though everyone else has a similar video" bandwagon.
Dag thank you man! I definitely know what you mean. I try to avoid the "If you want to make X type of beat, use this sound, this synth, this preset". I moreso like to talk about fundamental principles and concepts
This was fantastic video to watch. As someone who can both “make beats from scratch” and make “sample based beats” fairly well, I thoroughly enjoyed the in-depth descriptions of small key elements like chopping so it sounds “musically correct” without technically being perfect, etc. Do more sample shit.
@@NavieD Facts your tutorials are always the ones I default to. You keep it engaging but never sacrifice the lesson for flashiness/laughs. Humor is on point though you got me rewinding and loling sometimes
Dude I’ve been wasting SO much time chopping samples manually making each clip “unique as sample” and pitching and and stretching. Good fucking shit partner
Yeah Newtime can really help you out. And you can use it to experiment in cool ways (as you will see in a video I plan on putting out later this month)
I've watched so many tutorial videos, some are great and some are hard to follow but the presenter is clearly very good. Yours are super easy to follow, perfectly paced and you really go into detail with an easy to understand method for viewers to grasp what you're explaining. Thank you!
First video I've seen about sampling in FL Studio - I've wanted to learn to make beats, but just now getting around to it. Sampling is something I've been really curious about - and this video gave me a lot to go on. I'd REALLY like to learn more about chopping. Hope you do a video on those chopping styles and techniques you mentioned, if you haven't already!
I really like how you show us step-by-step, cause some other Producers pull out some stuff and we don't even know where they clicked at 💀💩😐 but you show us where to click which is dope makes everything easier for us. 🔥🌍
I learn faster from your videos. Thank you. And out of the 50 sampling videos I’ve watched in the past two days, you were the only one to show us how to quantize the sample. I appreciate you.
Thanks for another informative tutorial vid, Navie! I've never been that confident with my sampling, but have recently been trying more in the FL playlist. The first technique was very helpful. I wasn't aware about what NewTime really did, but it looks like it will help me out with problems I have been running into. Thanks again. You always put out quality content, man.
Thank you for watching! Glad to help. Sampling is truly a skill on it's own in my opinion. It can be really difficult when you start out, but you will get better the more you do it
Hahah thanks Beezy. I am sure there are a lot of weird little things that can go wrong in other ways, but hopefully I showed some of the more useful tools to fix them
I've watched plenty other producers talk about sampling but none and I mean none break down the topic the way you do and I appreciate that... So I am subbing👍🏼you a great teacher
Thank you Kyle! I love sampling and making videos on it. I am thinking about doing a vid where I show off a few different techniques when it comes to sampling
Bruh I learn a lot so much & you teach a lot more simple & clearly, really appreciate it! Now I have more confidence to use FL Studio. Also, just upgraded to FL Studio all plug-ins bundle edition definitely worth it & will use all the stock plug-ins. 🔥🔥
What a really lovely gesture to plug another artists channel. You are brilliant at what you do and that impresses me but who you are impresses me more. Wow my faith in people is reassured by virtue of your existence. Well done and great channel too.
I cant emphasize enough how amazing this tutorial and your channel is. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wish you nothing but continued success. Thanks again!
Of all the fl tutorials I've watched, you're the most easy to understand and just overall great at teaching. And damn that beard is fire. You've got yourself another sub 😁
Very nice. A lot different than the other sampling videos on youtube. Your tutorial style is changing a lot, I like it. It's very concise. But as always very strong content. Thank you!
Thank you for making these videos, much appreciated. Just wanna make beats again like when i was in my 20´s and 30´s using 12 sec samplers, 4 tracks and later an MPC 500 and 1000. Is about 17 years ago...just can´t get a real hold of the software. That´s why i am so thankful just starting out again and see where the journey goes. God Bless you.
I don't know why I watched half of this video when I don't even us FL studio, but I mean, there is still helpful information in here, and I never heard of that new time plugin.
I have been sampling for years and I never knew. I tried to fix these issues with extra chops and adding random sounds to fill it up or leaving pieces out. Thanks man!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!#ThisIsSpartaaaa
Bro. This video was impressively well "scripted". You speak in a very concise way. I appreciate how you dive deeper into explaining a topic such as this in such an artistically minded way ... Unlike most kinds of tutorials... this is an *instructional* video. I appreciate your work here, really awesome!
Great going man. I like your channel content. This is a great tutorial for beginners like myself. I remade a beat to loop as a sample and was not sure how I was to go about it properly with chopping it up.

Bro, just found your channel. I've been using FL for two years now and still didn't know some of the tricks you showed here. Keep up the good work man. ✌
Looping is totally fine, every song is different and whatever sounds good, sounds good. You can chop and loop both at the same time to make sure you can mold the loop to your preference!
Whats your opinion on looping? Is it lazy? Or is it just as valid as chopping?
I don't think looping is lazy, but easier to start with.
I don't like to loop but when beatblock arises?...I turn to looping lol up until I can start building melodies around the loop then I delete it.
You already said chopping was where the creativity comes in. If everyone used the same sample, how would your's be different? Plus, I love the chop gods and if you saw how well they can flip samples, you'd probably want to emulate that.
Navie's hands in every single video be like: 👏🤲👐🤝
Some kind of jutsu maybe?
that's the navie vodoo gestures and the reason nobody leaves the channel ever
I am secretly hypnotizing my audience with my hand gestures
Now it’s all I can look at.
@@NavieD lol true that. Do you do it because showing your palms when speaking makes you look more trustworthy?
