Crude partisan politics was responsible for it. The building was privatized and could have been luxury condos by now, but because the federal government was a different party Tinubu and his acolyte Fashola frustrated the project. SMH
nigeria has the most abandoned projects in Africa what a shame. like the abandoned tower and hotel in the beautiful capital abuja. this should not be allowed in the capital. I can not believe with so many millionaires in Nigeria no one can take over all of these projects.
Lagos state recently passed a law that gave it the right to seize abandoned buildings, that's probably why they are fencing the Ijanikin 19 floor building. It's sad to see what's become of Fed. Sec. Ikoyi. Fond memories of that place, I have.
The airport hotel project is a great example why no sane investor should do business with governments in Nigeria, who do not respect the sanctity of contracts. Lekki Expressway and Falomo Shopping Center are other prime examples. SMH

I said it at the start of C19, on several sites. I said why not make the abandoned buildings into C19 centers rather than spend money building those make shift marquees they had popping all around.
Never knew that Ijanikin tower was for NSITF. When I saw it my first time passing to Badagry, I was wondering what the heck was this magnificent structure doing in the bush (the place was bushy then).
Am not sure judging by the kind of houses and lack of access road to the NSTIF tower that any of those landlords have any kind of approval. The tower is a stack contrast to the environment on which it is situated
I am wondering are they making sure to study the infrastructure that environmental decay does not damage the physical structure and endanger people's life and also the initial construction that contractors use suitable material because steel will erode when sitting for so long and exposed to the element. I hope so because I don't like to see on the news we're building collapse and take many people's life.
If they are indeed govt buildings, it is becuse the crooks got their cuts upfront; so it did not matter to them anymore whether the projects were completed or not.
Converting a highrise building into an apartment in a country where power supply is intermittent may not be the best idea. How many people want to climb 19 flight of stairs daily?
@@innoju Mr. Common sense, I wrote from a well of knowledge. I still remember when people were climbing up and down 1004 building by staircase. They probably still do now. These buildings should be put to use as quickly as possible...
Shame PDP
The one about the Federal Secretariat Ikoyi brings tears to my eyes. I remember when that place was a hive of activity. Nigeria my country!
Absolutely 💯 the complex is rotting away caused by a combination of politics and clash of business interests.

This building should be transformed to a housing estate project
You're talking sense Uncle. I pray that your ideas manifest & benefit many people with secure homes & jobs.

You're right about the law, but they might not be able to seize federal buildings.
@@NedMedia True!
Seems there's a court case in respect of the former Federal Secretariat.
Another great video! 👍
Thanks 😊
Thank you.
My brother I like all your videos, good job, they should give it to the poor
Thanks Comfort😊
Because the Nigerian Government is about the most irresponsible government on the Continent..
God have mercy this building could have bring so many jobs to the youths
This is sad and disgusting. I'm so glad they are other countries in Africa that are serious about development.
Which country in Africa that are really serious in development apart from their capitals
Nice

Wow the building in Ikoyi/VI is sad and so many people are homeless in Lagos
Absolutely, they should quickly resolve the issues and renovate this complex so that people can have homes.

The amount she stole can complete this building over 3 or 4 times.

Too much bureaucracy and red tape
Yes, it hinders the ease of doing business.
