Pumped that y'all are liking this one so much. Thanks for the 10K so fast! More coming soon
Because this is so helpful hehe thank you! :D
Thomas you are so cool.. Love from India
Love from Philippines
ua-cam.com/video/xkOMaMuk6jY/v-deo.html hilarious!
Plz cemera name and detls
Thomas, I find it so very helpful when you demonstrate beginner mistakes before you show the pro technique. Thanks so much for your channel!!! I'm learning so much!
I agree, the context of what you're thinking about as your composing your shots is so important!
Now THIS is the kind of video (on making videos) we really need!
Just want to second this comment. The style of showing what we do wrong vs what we need to do right is much more instructive. Thank you.
Agreed.
Exactly!
I like the way you put this together. It shows that we can go from below average to much better and how to do it. Most educators dont go from this to that likle you have. Well done Thomas.
Thank you for keeping things super applicable and showing how you can capture all of this with basic gear (no stabilizers, SLR, Filters etc.). This is super inspiring!
Why did only found this video! This is what I need ughhh. Thanks mate! Please keep making vids/tutorial for beginner's like us
So cool to see how those small "dolly" motions make a huge difference!
You know the way you broke it down made a lot of sense and comparing the beginner style was a great visual. Thank you!
This is actually the best video I've ever seen on b roll. This video is very underrated. Please make more videos like this.
What an amazing tutorial!!
I have looked everywhere for a video that not only shows me the "before" and "after" shots, but also the camera man's movements to create those shots, thank you so much for this BTS view. Please make more of these.
Are you going to release your "Uganda Series" as a DVD? I absolutely love it! And I cant believe what you created with a Sony, a Mavic, a Gopro (same gear I've got) and the knowledge and vision in your mind (definitely haven't got☺️)
I would love to support you, buy that DVD and proudly display it on my shelf, and use it for inspiration.
(If anyone else would like to see this DVD released then please "thumbs up" this comment and maybe it will happen☺️)
i've been watching cinematic videos tutorial for years but this one is the most epic tutorial i ever watch thank you so much
Since 2017, everytime I watch your tutorial videos, I'm taking down notes. I hope you may help more beginners. Love you Thomas 💕
I rate what I watch by how they make me feel at the end of the presentation. Unlike other video instructions, you leave your viewer with a positive and hopeful feeling that they can do what you have just taught them. A hallmark of a great teacher -- making what would otherwise be overwhelming information a doable, enjoyable process. You have the gift of simplifying complicated concepts. You, sir, are right on the top of the heap. A class by yourself. Thank you.
Nice one and gives a clear illustration. The tips on breaking up the whole scene into a cinematic sequence is amazing. 👍🏻
You never fail to deliver some value in every video I watch of yours
Great tutorial. I like that you start with how a beginner does it. So people can see what the difference is. 👍🏻
So, You made me realise how beginner am I 😅
So do I, lol thank so much Thomas
Exactly lol in guilty of the 2nd beginner shot
Erfan Tabarak hahahahahaha SAME!
Me too haha
Same Here Dude
This change my perspective on how to do transitions, thanks m8
IDK why this video has many dislike
Being a content creator and coming across a vid like this is fun. You did a great job at putting this together to create a strong visual for people who want to see how to make a video more impactful. It's definitely a great way to teach people how to break away from a general "Establishing Shot" with pans and getting up close and personal with the specific elements that are involved with the entire scenery to show how they connect to make the whole thing work. Film making definitely focuses on personalizing the individual things that make the whole story and letting the imagination do the rest.
Wonderful job.
I've just bought your Bootcamp 2.0 course, and think you're really hitting the nail on the head with these kind of video tutorials. This is *exactly* the kind of information that a newbie videographer needs, and for some reason there is very little of it to be found on UA-cam etc.
Many channels talk about the gear, the camera settings or spend large amounts of time on wheeled boards of one kind or another :-) , but almost none focus on the basic skills of *how to film stuff creatively* or describe the film-making process in the detail that you do.
This material is gold for beginners! Keep up the good work.
Make say 100 videos like this, please. But at the end show both results, beginner first. Giving due respect to both. I would, heck, we all would watch every one beginning to end! Thank you!
This is like one of the best beginners tutorial on UA-cam
Wow, this really helped. You shows the comparison between beginner and pro style. Easy for me to detect my usual mistakes. Thanks lot Thomas.
this is the BEST video for demonstrating how to shoot b roll film. other youtuber didn't get the Real point of what the b roll shooting is.. thanks for sharing
Exactly what i was wishing to find! From theory to action...thank you! Greetings from Greece!
Do you know what camera did he use?
Excellent. Please make more like this. Very good to see the behind the scenes nature of the shot. What your thoughts were, how you executed it. This was a VERY good tutorial video. Thanks.
Huge thanks. Very clear explanations. Thank you very much Thomas
so happy i found you. exactly what I've been looking for. thank you I CAN DO THIS
You made it so simple bro. I love it! Beginner here.
I had to come back and thank you again. This video single handedly took my shots to the next level!!! I would probably still be shooting that amateur style and wondering why my videos don’t look professional. Now I’m a beast no matter what camera I’m filming with.
Thank you ! I just realized.. this should have been my very first lesson. You explain it so well ! Love fram India !
Thomas, thank you for the video. I truly appreciate the way that you broke down what a armature would do vs. an experienced videographer. I am teaching a class that focuses on b-roll and I truly think that this video would help my students understand a bit more. I can show them all my vids till my fingers break on the keyboards but sometimes it’s just useful to show another professionals work.
Concept then application. Lovely tips to apply in my UA-cam channel videos. Awesome!
agree sir galing ng mga tips nya eh..
Thank you Thomas for these tips. I am a newbie, but one thing that i've learnt from you is, Take time in shooting! and slo-mo shots. Love it!
This video is so good. Works way better for me than someone telling how things work. Actually seeing it helps a lot. Thank you!
Thanks Thomas for breaking down each shot to film to keep a cohesive feel. This was definitely helpful.
This is really what I need to watch. I always do the pan and only once. I love how the way you explain things. I'll keep that in mind. There are connections in between the shots. I hope in my next video, it will be interesting 😅 Thank you so much by the way.
So beautifully explained my friend. Mistakes shown, theory explained and actual shots taken.
This video was directly sent to my Playlist. Thanks Thomas!
I have learnt more from this video about videography than all other videos put together. It really brings out the nuances in video-making that even the top UA-camrs don't talk about often.
Very valuable lesson here Tomas. What impress me the most is that fact that you actually thought from the perspective of the beginner, communicate the idea and deliver lt, in very simple, yet engaging way. I’ve been following you sporadically, but this is maybe be, because you upload like that:-). I wonder, what would it be, with the same level of value, same non formal style, but with the consistency the ocean waves?! Thank you and till next time.
You made this video for me, Thomas. Thanks so much
Great video! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
love the before and after.such huge difference
Amazing! It's nothing I wouldn't find on another tutorial video but it's put together a lot better! I can already feel my videos are going to look better! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the in depth tips and tricks! Trying to apply all of them while making videos. Loved every video you share!
Omg no one explained that good how and what to do and what to don’t do. Thank you so much for this video!! 🙏🏼 Now I know what I have to do 🤗
Here again with the one on one coaching! you are the best!
This is so helpful - I have been working on this already. I find I default to panning, then catch myself and reset and shoot again! Cheers.
Just little shots, little storage space, and good footage.
Great, thanks, Thomas !
This is exactly the sort of video I needed. How to take my footage to the next level and I love seeing your thought process and how you actual film movement with the camera and it was handheld, great vid
You just describe my videos. At first I didnt understand why my videos looks boring. Coming from a phone to a sony a6400, I thought that will change, but its really not. I always do panning and some good but what you illustrated in this video will really help me get it more cinematic and make it look like a pro. Thanks a lot Thomas! New subscriber here.
This was great! Loved that you used a point and shoot to make clear that it's about the technique and not about the camera.
I never have the confident to shoot B-roll without gimbal. After seeing your video, I think I should give it a try.
He used warp stabilizer too
Thank you! Learning a lot from your videos, straight-forward and very informative. Keep it up! 👏👏
Amazing tutorials and explained so well.
Hey Thomas, thank you for answering my question in your live webinar the other day. Really, really appreciate you taking the time to answer it. :)
The slowmo shot of the waves is really awesome
Great video! Adding motion to your shots makes a huge difference. When you keep practicing, it becomes second nature to you.
Wow. Thank you for sharing. 💓 this is really helpful for me as a beginner
Perfect short Tutorial! From theory directly to action... Thanks Thomas!
Thank you so much. I wish there were more videos like this breaking down the shots when you are in a location travelling or sightseeing
Great video! Awesome tips! I’m working on a vídeo tomorrow & I Will def use some of these! 🤘🏼
Really appreciate the video and you explaining the thought process behind the shots and how to connect your shots. For slow motion, were you shooting in 50/60 or a faster 120? Thanks!
The higher the frame rate the smoother will be the final shot
@@MarcoCarpinella the rule is that you take the framerate so for example 60 fps and then double that to get the shutter speed...
@@froznfire9531 true but he asked for just the fps I guess
I love your video! Thanks 🙏🏼 i learned a lot on your video and the demonstrated, this is what im looking for.
I clicked because I saw Barcelona on the thumbnail and I'm going to Barcelona in two days!! Of course, also as a filmmaker!
Basic lesson here: if you want good shots, you will be 90% of the time on the ground
Many years ago I started laying on the ground when taking pictures. People are still amazed to this day from my output :D
Soooo true you basically crawling around with a camera
Wow! This is so informative. I can't wait to try this out!
It's the first time that I got pulled by the hand (like the newbe that I am) and was carried into the cinematic of a sequence. I have watched a ton of videos ant tutorials but this is the ONE that made it so clear. Thanks so much, I subscribed to your channel.
LOVED IT!! I think we all want more of these videos,
Lovely video Thomas. Congrats !!!
Very good video, love the way you explain and how you show examples on what to do and what not to do. You should do a video editing tutorial for b roll too!
I'm pretty sure that being in such a beautiful city like Barcelona helps a lot to get good shots and good filming clips ✌🏼
Great Video Mahnn!! Thanks..very straight to the point and no useless talk like d rest, useful tips!! Cheers!!
Thanks Thomas...I always find a pearl of wisdom in your videos.
Greetings from India! You are my biggest source of inspiration for cinematography. Love watching each of your videos from start to end as they are full of things to learn. Keep up the great creations...keep rockin' Thomas! Love you!
This Really Helped me a lot to Learn New things
Thank you so much. This motivates me to get the hell outta my house and film things instead of being scared to explore!
I really like that you broke down the differences instead of just showing the “pro” version.
It's always great to come back and relearn from your tutorials! Keep up the great work!
Excellent bro you are amezing thanks for teaching such awesome tips I definately try to use it in my videos Thank you so much

Thank you for sharing this video brother
Enjoy these helpful how to's, great work
Such a GREAT tutorial! Didn't expect much of it from the beginning because of this weird "old style look" of the main camera, however I DID learn a lot practical knowledge to make my videos better. I've subscribed already - thank you!!! Keep up the good work!!!
This video randomly came up on my feed and I am so happy it did! You earned yourself an instant subscriber bro. This is probably one of the best videos on Broll I have ever seen my man.👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯💯💯💯
I just realised im not even beginner yet.
LOL I hear that!
Yo

Wow, this was incredible and very helpful!
That was very helpful video. Thanks for sharing.
Woow me encanto mucho el video !! Esta increíble !!
YOur videosare amazing Alex. I like the modest way that you are. and you got so much knowledge in filmmaking. you give so many useful actual tips . respect man!!
Hey Thomas, this was amazing content brother! I do have 1 question however. Was this shot all on 60fps or 120fps to slow down in post or did you shoot only spefice shots at a high frame rate? And if so, what frame rate?
"Instead of doing that..", I'll probably keep that in mind. Cool tips. Thanks!
