Black players are a lot like Blue players, but instead of stopping them from casting spells, they let their opponents resolve their creatures, giving them the false hope they'll get to attack, only for removal to ruin their day.
Once made a white/black deck with 12 destroy target creature cards and a bunch of white enchantments to back it up. I don't regret what I did, but I do understand now why I no longer have friends. Perhaps murdering them was *not* so good for me.
I totally understand you, Orzhov Lifedrain Control is fun to play, but not to play against. I had the opportunity to bagin playing Commander with my friends before draining them completely.
my favorite arena deck right now is my good old mono-red aggro burn pile. is it so wrong of me to enjoy a mono-black aggro burn pile with 10+ removal slots when all I'm trying to do is play lands until i can flip a corrupt off the top?
Here's the thing. I am unequivocally a Black player. I've been playing Black since I first started the game, and most of my decks are Mono-black. And this is the inside of my mind. This is exactly how I build decks, right down to the "I don't care how I win, I'll just kind of drain them out I guess."
I'm the opposite, I almost exclusively play white deck combinations. I like to have as many creatures/tokens on the field as possible at all times. I love watching mono black players run out of hand cards and then concede as I summon the next wave.
I played blue/black back in planar chaos when blue was basically black for a set. 4 piracy charms, 4 funeral charms, counter, bounce, discard and creature destruction. It had 3 creatures and no win condition.
My mono black tastes have evolved over the years. Originally, it was about killing my opponents. I tried guns, maces, elaborate rube-Goldberg machinations that delivered polonium on their last untap step, but now, I find myself playing 12 swamps and 48 copies of thoughtseize. Nobody has lived to correct my deck construction illegality thus far.
I have an artifact creature that gets stronger for every artifact and enchantment in my graveyard is in my deck just to counter milling decks (all I have in that deck are artifact and enchantment spells)
I used to play an Abzan deck (which later became a WUBG deck) whose goal was to kill, counter and control everything the opponent played. No win condition but to shuffle my things back into my own deck so I would never run out of things to kill their stuff with. The only win condition was the opponent drawing through their entire deck one card at a time.
@@MerlinTheCommenter So I played this deck for a long time and I honed it down to a pretty precise tool of evil. After lots of testing I eventually decided that there were certain effects that I just absolutely could not allow to resolve. Namely graveyard hate, but there are others. You can have all the removal you want, but if someone exiles all your important stuff out of the graveyard you're just cooked and there's no other way to stop things from resolving in the first place than with good old counterspells. Plus there are cards in blue that go really well with the strategy. Devious cover up counters and shuffles stuff from the gy back in, clear the mind can get my whole gy back and replace itself in one card, and my personal favorite became disinformation campaign. Ripping cards from their hand prevents them from building up a big hand and shotgunning it all out in one turn. Discovery / dispersal let me dig for cards I needed or have nontargeted removal at instant speed plus the surveil resets disinformation campaign...I really hate blue in general, but it was just too good a fit for the strategy not to include.
I feel attacked. My horobi deck… it does this on a grand scale. He isn’t even a murderer at that point, in the words of Stalin, “The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of a million is a statistic.” Horobi has killed literally millions of creatures, so anything that dies to him is just another statistic at this point.
Oh my Jeebus. I thought I knew what to expect when I opened this video, and I had no idea. I love the comedic format of this shit; I laughed harder in more repetition at this than I have in a long, long time. Touchè fellow dark magus. lol
Notice that most of the games his opponent barely took damage and died anyway. This is the power of asserting that much dominance. You don't need to kill your opponents when they kill themselves out of despair.
I play Anawon the ruin thief as commander. I get the murderer buzz from making my opponent mill all of their favorite cards before they are even able to try to cast them. I’m not really interested in winning from mill, I just love that milling my opponents happens as a side effect of just playing straight forward magic. The deck has a little bit of everything magic has to offer. Play a creature, attack, draw a creature mill a couple cards. Pump some boys, attack, and mill an exponential amount of cards. It’s sorta a mill deck but it’s really just a damage to face deck. The milling is just the side quest, but really what I like about it is that it’s got all sorts of win conditions that work well off of each other without really being a combo deck. I got big creatures like green but they grow off of cards in the grace yard, I build an army of unblockable rogues and pump them up like white and they through the commander supply the milling and food for the big beasts, I have one two card combo that supplies infinite mill if I do decide that milling a person out with a 2/2 unblocable is something I want to do. I don’t have anything that obviously red, but the low to the ground unblockables does not feel like it belongs to a dimir deck. It’s very aggressive and quick to do damage. I have black cards that raise creatures from my enemyies’ graveyards. That’s as black as it gets. I don’t have a lot of cancel spells, but the milling is the second most blue thing ever. The excessive amount of card draw? Delicious. I’m missing ramp for sure but the only cards more than 4 manna are removal spells.
1:06 I got that feeling when I used turox (you know the giant slug) on a player who has up to 50 1/1 creature tokens and then used deadfast demon to turn those slug tokens into 6/6 with flying. And the opponent still felt they had a chance man that felt satisfying.
I play a mono black rats deck that functions more like a white deck with its token generation, a red deck with its speed, and a blue deck with its card draw.
This exactly why I run 4 weatherlight compleateds in mono red… urabrasks forge as well…. You kill enough stuff I scry through my whole deck to deal as much face damage as possible
I got my first deck at the age of six. I started with black and I always will play black. I love playing black. And yes killing things is the best part about it. 😌
I remember playing a game against a Black player in Arena with only one monster and I played it out just to spite him because neither of us could finish the game but he would run out of cards eventually and I could infinitely summon tokens.
Black players are a lot like Blue players, but instead of stopping them from casting spells, they let their opponents resolve their creatures, giving them the false hope they'll get to attack, only for removal to ruin their day.
Worse than blue players
Black is slower blue
I play dimir :)
Just play Sultai for ramp.
@@theshreddedone8322 at least you get some value out of the cards, blue can be even worse
As a lover of mono black, this is scandalously inaccurate.
I also love to make my opponent discard.
Yay more misery to inflict :)

That's just killing before it gets played.
This is correct, I also love when they don't have cards to play
That's just killing before birth. AKA abortion.
You see that guy right there? He doesn't have health insurance- People who play black in a nutshell.
I went to the comments and read this at the exact time Noah was saying it 😂🤣😂
Even better when you're a White/Black player like me because you get to choose who gets insurance. (Hint: it's only my creatures.)
Edit: Typo
You heard it hear first, for-profit healthcare is just WB control.
Is this a commentary on capitalism?
