Unban meathook would be neat for the speed of the format, but I doubt they'll ever do it since the meta is so diverse nowadays.
For BO1, this would be pretty reasonable. For BO3, it’s already slow and grindy, so adding another grind-em-out card doesn’t seem necessary.

I love that you show the deck as it is, with wins and losses. Other content creators only include winnings on their videos so you never get to have a real idea on how the deck work against different match ups.

I love your idea for the ability to auto-board on play vs draw in Bo1. I can't stand being confined to play 3 straight games with no pause or break, nor do I have any interest in playing against the same deck/player over and over. But it's not right that Bo3 decks get to make changes with the knowledge of play or draw and Bo1 does not. Even if the swap is not "auto" but just have the die roll and then 30 seconds to "board" would suffice.
The one in best of one sounds great, but considering that you are asking for best of one with sideboarding, perhaps it's time to play some best of three?

That's a stellar idea for BO1, having a "on the draw" auto-swap of 7 cards. But seeing as it took them months to fix a 5 minute bug regarding direct challenges, I am skeptical about their interest in good ideas sadly.
This change would actually get me back into playing BO1
Couldn't watch the video right now, but put the audio on in the background just to hear what your B01 idea was when I saw this comment. Glad I did because having 7 flex spots for on the draw vs on the play that would automatically load is a really great idea.
They broke touchscreen support for Windows over a year ago. It's a built-in feature. All you have to do to have it, is not ruin it. Embarrassingly enough, not only did they ruin it, but they haven't fixed it in over a year. They don't even bother coming up with an excuse. They just ignore it, even though it's one of the most upvoted bugs in their issue tracker. If anyone had the illusion of these lots listening to their players, I'm sorry to break the news to you.

My suggestion is in Bo1 standard, if you're on the draw you get a free mulligan
Some kind of best of 1 improvement desperately needs to be made for the overwhelming advantage of going first. Especially when there's no system in place to make sure you ever go first. I was on the draw 86 games in a row once.
That would require Wizards to recognize that Bo1 formats are not true competitive formats and thus should have a separate Ladder just for it (o no Ladder at all) and Banlist than Bo3 (which are the true formats competitive wise)

@@alpha34098as much as good of bo3 is, people just don't have the time for it. Some of us only have 30 minutes break everyday and we still want to climb as well.
I'm confused by what you mean? Bo1 has some extreme problems (obviously) but it seems plenty competitive, especially in light of the fact that "cEDH" is a thing: a format expressly built to be casual.
Don't get me wrong, I like Bo3 far more. I also don't have time for it. As Clockwork points out, I would not be surprised if Bo1 and Limited are the go-to formats on Arena. Being so picky about what is a 'true' competitive experience is a bit strange, but maybe I am not understanding your position correctly.@@alpha34098
I'm also pretty sure Bo1 ladder can be both fun and competitive with slight rules alterations. Mulligans have been changing so often since I started that I still get confused whether its "free mull" or "draw n-1 cards" or "draw new hand and put n cards back", etc. Changing the rules slightly is probably fine.
Plus, it would be a good touch if they could answer issues people have with the format by making it have its own rules. Its digital already (hand smoothing algo, whatever algos that lurk beneath the surface: whether thats good or bad is up to you) and other digital games do wild things with design. Some fairly tame digital only responses to a digital only format that people enjoy could go a long way. @@alpha34098

cgb, you are talking smack to the UW control because UW control is a joke right now in standard, that's what all other decks are saying as they play against our useless counterspells and instantly deploying two to three creatures after every board wipe.
edit: my mind was literally blown away when I heard your "sideboarding in bo1" proposal! that's the single best idea I've heard since 2017 about mtga! I would sign any petition to make this an actual thing

32:22 Anyone else confused by the life total here. They had 6 damage on you and you were at 9, but you end at -3. Is that a Arena display bug or something?

When you concede, Arena often freaks out and counts the damage twice, or at least part of it twice. It's a just a visual bug.
so, I built a Hylda of the Icy Crown deck with Toxic as the way to clos the game quickly and not worry about getting to 20, just to 10. and the Jawbone dualist with double strike plus Skrelv, Defector Mite for the extra toxic 1, make 4 poison counters every time it connects. so that for 2 turns, plus the unlockable/ hexproof makes it really hard to stop, then proliferate to finish the job. it's super reliable because the rest of the deck is tap down. also if it goes late game, Hylda's +1/+1 synergizes really well with proliferate for the beatdown plan.

Why do you say you can't bounce your own creatures? Of course you can, block bunny with the 1/1, bounce it before damage, and with 2 priests on the table the opponent gets 2 poison counters?!

Hey CGB I been trying to get venerated rotpriest from buying decks in arena with no luck. Which pack can I find it? Mythic, alchemy or regular packs?
I'm the mono red player (ThicknNasty) that got wrecked in Game 3 lol. I didn't realize I was playing CGB while it was happening.
Just beat some world championship chump with 5 mono lands and some fetchlands. If you aren't stacking using the handsmoother and shuffler you are either a streamer or ain't playing mtga right.

I’m honestly surprised it doesn’t run at least a couple of Cavern of Souls to protect against potential counter magic play. That’s be the main thing I’d tweak with this list.
In my experience on the ladder... counterspell control is pretty dead. Cavern of Souls is in too many decks. It also has a cost associated with it, it can't pay for low-cost instants/sorceries, so if your deck isn't 100% creatures of a single type, you will have a bad draw every now and again.
@@MorganTheMadThere are more than enough creatures in this list to make at least a 2 of work; to say nothing of them all being Phyrexian.
Cavern is there to fix your mana for creatures and nothing else. I think it’s reasonable to substitute a Yavimaya Coast for a Cavern since the only green card in the deck is Rotpriest anyways, but if you need to hit a certain blue source threshold then maybe not.

One of the worst things WotC has done lately is to add the stupid toxic mechanic. Didn't they learn from infect?
I remember submitting a similar sideboard idea to the arena team on their suggestion page years ago, also that the games should oscillate between play and draw when you make no changes.
It would be nice for bo1 to see some love, it is by far the best way to play but the flaws are also really frustrating.
Maybe a creator with some clout could put in a good word, spin up a petition and fight for the right for skrelv's hive to be playable. ✊

And because I feel I need to, let me defend the hive for a sec: It's lifegain helped me survive a few matches long enough to proliferate the opponent to death and it presents something that looks dangerous and needs to be taken care of. Because all I want is for the opponent to ignore my little toxic creatures until I have them at 4-5 poison, then they die to proliferate that they can't stop

Tje double strike can easiely go up to toxic 5 and kill the enemy in one attack. Really fun deck
This deck beats me all the time. I tune against mono red and control and do well against those decks, mono white with Thalia probably only other deck that runs over mine every time doesn't feel fair

Can someone explain how CGB dies in the last monored interaction at 32:26? I thought with 8/5 trample would only deal 6 damage since it's being blocked by 1/2 but it did 14 damage. CGB life was 9 and it dropped to -3
He dropped to 3 as you’d expect, and then conceded. When you concede the game it always puts your life total at a negative number in my experience, usually between -1 and -3

I don't get this. Yes, next turn you might be dead, but if you draw Mist you can save yourself. Genius has 8 trample damage, and you have 2 toughness and 9 life, meaning you go down to 3. This is not quite a "We're dead; we're so dead.", it's more of a "I don't think I can live another turn, so I'm leaving.".
Ability of that creature. Sacrifice to deal damage equal to power

What's up with the toxic having such a resurgence in the standard meta game?
He explained it at the start, too many lifegain abilities in the meta. Better to go to 10 toxic than try to outdamage turbo lifegain.
As a blue white control player I've found this matchup very difficult. With venerated rotpriest on board it just feels like I'm spending mana to kill myself. And mirex + march of swirling mist makes it so hard to wipe the board.

@yavivanov6650 no I play best of 3 and find it to be a dead card in a lot of matchups since monored isn't very popular. I prefer to just maindeck depopulates

But CGB...How can new players enjoy a ggod game of casting beasts and moving them on the field towards victory when the top meta decks are "Removal", "Toxic" and "... Counter spells"...Some cards are getting seriously to strong to deal with other than remove them from the game...so, you pay money to not let the other play...so, do you play? actually? Or are you just "Negating" play? Thanks for the video by the way.
I wish on-the-draw either gave you the option to immediately sideboard or just gave you the Commander free mulligan.
The free mulligan part would even work in Bo3, so that's a bonus.
Hearthstone started you with a free Lotus Petal without the artifact synergies; I might take that too, but Blizzard might see it as plagiarism, given how unique to HS that Coin mechanic is.
