Just want to add, for anyone who gets this far in the comments, don't give your tiny new-age store owners a hard time. This video is a great example of how they don't have the resources to track their crystals. If you are interested, ask them if they now the origins, and when they say they do not, ask for the names of their suppliers, some may give that info out, some may not, but it will show you have an interest in ethically sourced crystals, so the shop owner has a larger investment in also asking those questions in the future, and contact the suppliers to show you have an interest in ethically sourced crystals.

I can’t thank you enough for speaking about this because I am from Myanmar and seeing my people are dying and families are destroyed and destroying is killing me and I felt like no one care!!!

I've never been interested in buying crystals but have seen a big trend on the internet of people using them. Thanks so much for raising awareness on the topic and teaching us so many helpful things!! <3

I got into crystals probably 30-35 years ago when I started being interested in paganism/wicca. I didn't get far with the spiritual bit, as I found it silly after awhile (no shade to those who believe, it's just not for me). But, I still thought crystals were a pretty decoration and continued to buy them. About five years ago, I had an epiphany with how bad it was for the earth to mine them in such quantities when a local shop posted their buying trip to the trade show that they get them from. Seeing table upon table filled with crystals just hit home the sheer quantities that must be being dug up. I haven't bought one since.

Love this video! A balanced look at the harms of an industry without hitting down at the little guy 🌞

Thank you for this video! You had such good points and still remained very respectful. It's sad how these industries are taking advantage of people who want to feel connected to earth and then they end up doing the exact opposite by destroying it further. This is exactly what happened to me. Many of the things that are big in spirituality are actually bad for you and the planet (crystals, essential oils, essences etc.) The realisation about this has actually made me grow so much. I now appreciate the thigs around me more. I collect pretty rocks from nature around me, grow my own herbs and just take long walks and enjoy the smells of the different seasons. The foundations of spirituality are within you and you don't need anything else. Of course different things can be nice to have in your practise and can be helpful but you can do without them. I will from now on by my crystals and essentials oils etc. preloved (I've seen them quite alot on apps for second hand items) if I feel like I would really like some in the future. Thank you for bringing awareness to this, your videos are always spot on💓

As a witch, I occasionally use home tumbled rocks and crystals. I live in a gold mining area where our gravel crush contains large amounts of quartz. My driveway probably has hundreds of quarts pieces. I have some amber and amethyst jewellery as well as vintage onyx, bought second hand or gifted me for birthdays decades ago. Magic and spirituality doesn’t come from a rock, it comes from within oneself.

I've always believed in the spiritual qualities of crystals personally, and I could say one thing that has been helpful, ( if you're in the US at least) is online secondhand shops. Goodwill auctions specifically, is a really good source for second hand crystals often I'll find single crystals and sometimes big lots of crystals and Stones that they are trying to get rid of so you'll get a really good deal for them.

Oh this video hurt me deeply 💔 😢 but obviously was necessary for me. Something I took such pride in, I am now ashamed of 😥 I have hundreds of Crystals. As a Pagan, these are more than just pretty rocks to me but iust as a cross on a wall is not necessary for a Christian, crystals are not necessary for me either. I can say however that I've been collecting them since high-school (I'm now 31) and I've never bought any from big cooperations. They've all been small mom and pop type shops. But after seeing this, it's very likely I will never buy another and cherish the ones I have even more. Thank you for this video.

I'm from the state of Arkansas in the US and we actually have a lot of natural mineral deposits and you can mine for diamonds and crystals, especially various quartz crystals. I have seen with my own eyes the degradation of the land from this type of mining just from the time I was a child to now as an adult. The state motto is "Arkansas: the natural state" but between mining, fracking, and animal agriculture it won't be very natural for much longer...

Such an eye opening video! Honestly never thought about that side of it. While I was never into crystals for healing or decor I do really liked natural crystals in jewelry and such and was kind of always on the look out for the perfect one. Having this side of it more ion the forefront of my mind, I feel like I don't even want that anymore.
