I love to read so many of the comments. Thank you to Janica for creating this beautiful shawl. I love water, the color blue, the gentle movement of the waves created by the stitches. . . thank you Chandi for making these weekly patterns available to us. I have to make my mention of the Blackstone River too. It's such a gift of nature and beauty itself. It's one of the little things that thinking about my memories of it makes me smile. So thank you for reminding me of the memories too!

I live by a river called, the Santa Ana River. It is a small meandering river that is very near my house. I used to love to ride my horses along it and, in the summer time I would take my dogs down there to run around and play with them in the water.
One river I remember fondly though, is the Platt River, it ran behind my dad's house where he grew up, in Nebraska. My dad was so special and important to me. He was an awesome man and the kindest, gentlest person I have ever known. I lost him a couple of years ago, but this was a wonderful memory that was a part of him, remembering his childhood home and the river that ran through his back yard, just down the rolling Hill. Thanks for bringing that to mind.
I hope you have a blessed day.

Oh my, our Little Duck River is not as majestic as the Seine, but when I was a little girl in here in Tennessee, my brothers and I would slip down the side of the bridge, wade near the banks and walk for miles up the river. We spied on beavers building the dams, floated little walnut shell boats, caught crawfish, and would occasionally knock each other over in the places we knew to be little swimming holes. My Pa taught us to fish there and as a teenager I was baptized down in that river right by the bridge we had grown up fishing from. Rivers hold a special place in my heart. They remind me of the constant renewing and movement of life, and I admit I don’t stop to stare at the river as much now that I am grown. This beautiful shawl is a great reminder of that with its pretty little waves. I hope I make the time to sit on that bridge and knit someday soon now that I think of it! Thanks for the idea!
PS the little bridge is out in the middle of nowhere and I won’t be in the way of traffic because I just know someone will think “that might be a bad idea” 😂

I look forward to Friday mornings just to watch your lovely and calming tutorials. This is such a beautiful pattern and I can't wait to make one for myself. I would like to mention the Mekong River, which always reminds me of the stories of what my parents (and so many others) went through, during the Vietnam war, to get us here, across the world, to where we are now, the US. I would love to make a version of it for myself to have, to remind me of how wonderful Mother Nature can be. ❤️❤️

I love this one! And I hope Janica brings us the sister crochet pattern in the future; that would be lovely ❤️
The thought of a river brought the Yalu River to my mind. I've been reading about brave people from North Korea that had made their way to freedom by crossing that river and going to China. But that, of course, is just the beginning of a long and dangerous journey. Those smoky tones reminded me of a winter night, which are the most likely for them to choose to escape, because the river will be frozen and easier to cross.
Thank you, Chandi and Janica, for bringing us this gorgeous shawl pattern.

The Missouri River has had a major impact on my life. Since moving to Missouri in the mid-70s, there has only been two years since where I have not lived within 30 miles of this river. It has affected our weather, it has flooded and caused chaos, it has fed nearby creeks, it has provided a home to numerous species and has inspired thousands of artists. When I first saw your video for this pattern, I was immediately reminded of the ripples of the flowing Missouri River (although it's not anywhere NEAR that color!) 😁
Thank you again for your continued generosity. The outtakes were also SSOOOOOO much FUN!!! 😁

When I’m thinking of a river, I think about the Surinam River in the beautiful country of Suriname. Although I’ve been living in The Netherlands since I’m 19 y/o, I can still recall the smell and feel of the days when we went over there with our parents for a stroll at the waterside or for shaved ice with almond syrup. I’m a crocheter, but this beautiful pattern and stunning yarn calls for a journey that takes me back to the Surinam River, but that also introduces me to the skills of knitting. Perfect!

JoAnn, I hope you take the plunge. I just started learning to knit last year about this time. I watched a ton of UA-cam videos. There are a lot for beginners (no experience at all). I chose to use the Continental style as I have crocheted for years and the yarn handling is in the left hand. I thought knitting with the same yarn hold would be easier for me. I think it was a good choice.

Thank you for a lovely pattern with beautiful yarn to enhance the design.
I'm in Southern CA but several yrs. ago I lived with one of my sisters for several months in a tiny town along the east coast of southern PA. Lately I've been reminiscing about the long walks I used to take during the winter months along the Delaware River, next to the canal there__serene, walking meditations. 💖🙌😺

Illinois River, goes by Peoria, IL where I live. It runs into the mighty Mississippi. I love watching your 'how to' videos. I am so thankful for the free pattern options you give. I love the yarn I bought from your fabulous dyers. I have a lot in my stash that I plan to use as much of this year as I can! I also love it when you email with the greetings, "Hello Sweet Pea".

Love this pattern! Thank you so much for being so clear and easy to follow in your videos. I have learned so much from watching you!
Those yarn colors are the deep cool blues of the Bow River that originates from Hector Lake in the Alberta Rocky Mountains until it meets with the Old Man River and becomes the South Saskatchewan River near Bow Island in southern Alberta.

Hi, I am from Tamil Nadu, India. Here in Tamil Nadu, there is a river called River Siruvani which is a tributary of River Kaveri. The water of River Siruvani is considered the world's 2nd tastiest water. I am blessed that I am drinking Siruvani water everyday.
Also I love all your videos and patterns. Your teaching is easy to follow. Plz continue with this good work.

I live on an island, surrounded by a river known to the Algonquin Nation (my mother's paternal history) as "Kitcikanii sipi" or "Large Water River". It better known by most as the St. Lawrence River. 🙂 My paternal grandfather was born here, but moved to Ontario in his youth. Many decades later, I move from Ontario to this island for work. The circle is complete.
The four row "fan & feather" pattern has been my go-to when I want to knit something simple that looks complicated. This pattern will be a great spin on it.
Meegwetch (thank you) for the chance to win such beautiful yarn! 😍 ❤️🇨🇦

I can’t wait to do this. I went through my yarn stash for ideas. Since I live in Ellijay, Ga. I must say that the Ellijay River flows through our beautiful little town. It’s moving rapidly today because of all the days of rain that we’ve seen this week.😅

Wow! What a beautiful shawl! Thankyou Chandi and Janica for the inspiration to create. The first river that came to mind is the Crystal River in Florida where the manatees come to play during the winter months.

Such a beautiful pattern and yarn combo!! The Mississippi River is less than an hour away from where we live. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be if it matched the blues in your shawl! It's more of a murky brown most times... LOL!!

Love your videos. I look forward to them ever Friday. My grandmother lived on a small river in PA when I was a kid. It is called the Lackawanna River. I have great memories of playing at her house. There was a tree that was half in the river. It was my "pirate ship". Thanks for the giveaway!

Chandi, thank you for your tutorials. You make it look so easy. But that's not the only reason I watch your tutorials. Your voice is also calming. It's great to just listen to you and relax at the end of a hard day. You can also relax by going tubing in our local rivers, San Marcos, Comal and Guadalupe rivers are the big three near Austin. But there is also a secluded place in Austin that offers a relaxed floating option--Barton Creek. If you ever come to town, be sure to work in a tubing trip while you're here.

I love this pattern!! I grew up swimming in the South San Gabriel River in Texas. There’s a huge park next to the river in Georgetown and it used to have a very large playground with a wooden castle. We would take school trips to the playground a park and could skip rocks and feed ducks. The park has changed a lot in the last 20 years, but the river is a constant.
